i wonder what does the Optimized backlight actually do. Isn't it the same as adapt to lighting condition on the brightness setting?
*
It adjust the backlight brightness like some of the monitor with dynamic contrast or what not.
When screen has most black, the backlight will dimmed down.

Sony shall remove that Optimised backlight, Z Ultra is pretty stable until Optimised backlight is implement. Seems not everyone face it, probably due to different panel use issue.

That the main reason I selling of my Z Ultra.
*
Turn off the backlight feature. Dont need to sell your phone.

optimised backlight on, adapt to lighting on, phone function as per normal

Switch settings optimised backlight off, phone function normal.

Restarts phone with backlight off, Sony logo turns up, phone turn blank with backlight remained on for 5 minute before i decide to hard reset from the SIM tray. Phone vibrates 3 times.

Turning on the phone again, same thing happens, SONY logo turn up and screen turn blank again with backlight on. xperia logo turn up after 2 minute and booted with wave animation and home screen appear. Turn off display with power button, screen shuts up completely. Attempt to turn on the screen fails. Force reset needed again.

Second reset attempt successful wih xperia logo appears instantly. Phone behaves normal now with display setting optimised backlight off and adapt to lighting on.

Restarts phone for 3rd time. Screen halted again after sony logo. Xperia logo appears after 2 or 3 minute. Home screen loaded with maximum brightness, and sudden dimmed and regain brightness.

Turned off display with power button. Screen cant turn back on again.

Same behaviour again after hard reset with screen halted for 2 3 minute after Sony logo. Home screen loaded with backlight at maximum. Power off screen immediately will turn off the display but the backlight remained on. Pressing power button again and the screen turns back on with max backlight. Phone functioned normal with backlight problem.
Restarts phone similar behaviour again with halted boot screen.

Conclusion, problematic backlight. Possible firmware related.

Solution
Turn on optimised backlight.

Pointed out from andrew, similar problem with xzu.

by switching off Optimized Backlight, the brightness will be constantly the same for every screen, not like the screen will go dimmer on dark screen right? hvnt got time to go thru the guidebook tongue.gif

by doing that it's still lower brightness.. i guess IPS LCD got higher brightness?
Will go and compare with some demo set when i hv the chance.. if its the same then im ok with it..

Yup, it doesnt work when transferring using Mac until an NTFS driver install is done. 4GB limit plus incompatibility with MAc OS X when it comes to transferring filesizes more than 4GB. No problems when transferring via Windows 7. Transferred my most fav movie this year, "Pacific Rim" in 1080p into the Z1, looks super gorgeous!

Also, the Z1 fits nicely in the Z Ultra dock. Z Ultra dock comes with two inserts and the inserts meant for the thicker Z Ultra with case fits the Z1.

The Z1 dock also comes with 2 inserts/brackets but it look like this:

The one on the right is the bigger bracket it comes with some kind of notch at the 2 ends, which blocks my phone with extra casing doh.gif
