I can just say, regardless where and who, it can be done, and very strongly believe that the price can be actually much lower.
Besides, check 808 PureView thread before it's launch, if not wrong, people also worry it might go over RM2K.
Pricing wise, as my experience and sources, it's very much "adjustable", whether it's country/region or decide by HQ in other countries.
It's not misleading, and it's didn't happen just for Lumia 1020.... many other brands and phones have the same problem. Even the recent Note 3, Ebay special deals at RM1899, that's much more difference compared it's RRP.
Long ago, I bought the N81 at Nokia Store when it's just launch. After I purchased, I went down and saw a shop selling the phone RM100++ cheaper! I ask and found it's the same authorised unit by Zitron.
They're not Nokia Store, so they don't have to follow RRP strictly.
I've been telling few times, no need to rush; unless you really need to change your phone like, immediately.
If you already bought it, then don't look back and ENJOY your phone.
Some people buy things, then next day suddenly price drop or got special offer/free gift, it's also very heart-breaking; the point is, you already make the decision to buy at the price, don't look back and enjoy your purchase.
