Those pics sure looked good. Can't wait to test the full capabilities of the camera when I go on vacation next week.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Finally, someone with 808PV experience posted 1020PV samples here. Those pics you uploaded here seem to have lesser noise than expected. They are taken straight out from the phone without PP? Actually what is your take about image quality vs 808PV? Two things that I noticed 1020PV doing a better job that 808PV are OIS and manual focus (macro focusing with 808PV can be a PITA). |

yup, right from the camera...no post-processing
the OIS is huge when comes to image sharpness even for daylight shot. I have alot of 808 shots that are out of focus when view at 100% crop. Manual focus is faster and more accurate too. The 4.5" screen also helps a lot. This post has been edited by hox: Oct 4 2013, 03:11 PM |

But it's great to have the ability to control shutter speed, which is what I always wanted in 808PV. As hox mentioned, another great improvements is the "focusing speed", and I think focusing as well from my short test. 808PV sometimes or quite often, unable to lock focus, gives you red box. When I tested the L1020, seems like OK, but need current 808PV and L1020 users to confirm. |

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Oct 4 2013, 03:14 PM) Those are outdoor daylight shots, plus you need to view in full resolution to see more clearly. Those are taken from 5MP files I think. Need to see the full resolution file which I think 808PV is cleaner (except in low light?).But it's great to have the ability to control shutter speed, which is what I always wanted in 808PV. Even the infinite focus distance is not perfect. |

QUOTE(hox @ Oct 4 2013, 02:57 PM) Finally got time to test the camera and now abit less intimidated to post here since i m no photography expert nice, a very brief insight from a designer as well as 808 user, might want to "vsco-fy" your shots sir? posted below are resized 5MP version to fit the forum, 100% crop if from 5MP. No editing except the downsizing and cropping. Thoughts on Lumia 1020 camera From a person who has been using Pureview 808 for long time, I think Lumia 1020 is definitely worth the upgrade if price is not an issue. There are clear and very noticeable improvements in term of overall operation and focus speed, colours, bokeh, sharpness and especially lowlight performance, thanks to f2.2, BSI and OIS. Although missing the extra settings in 808 (eg. ND, sharpness, saturation controls), 1020 still managed to produce higher percentage of sharp in-focus photos with good colors rendition for me than with 808. For those who never bother doing any post-processing on desktop, Lumia 1020 photos is ideal as they can be used without much further tweaking with the higher saturation and sharpening compared to conservative 808. They might looks Samsungy oversaturated on screen because the default screen colour is boost up ala Xperia Bravia engine. On desktop, they just looks about right. Will test night shots when I have the time soon. Thoughts on WP8 This is my first WP experience and I have only one thing to say - aesthetic and UX/UI-wise, it's at least 5-year ahead of iOS7. Love the minimalism, suits me as a designer perfectly. Despite the imperfection when comes to features and apps, the simplicity and typography win me over. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Keep them coming! |

QUOTE(TongCN @ Sep 30 2013, 04:02 PM) But I can see the quality of the photo will like downgrade after taking the shot. use HD Photo Viewer ---> http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/ap...f8-5c9e7597a2df Maybe like bit blur and color tone become warmer. Doesn't feel like 34mp :\ was wondering do we need to access to computer then only can see 34mp ? |

The other great improvement over 808 is wide angle barrel distortion which is very bad with 808 for subjects like people at the edges of a shot. With the new 6 elements lense in 1020, almost all distortions are corrected despite the wider lense

QUOTE(Zephyr_Mage @ Oct 4 2013, 08:06 AM) Nope. i see.. at first i also didnt want to apply sp on my ex-920 but after i watch the review from pocketnow in the 'after the buzz' episode, where the reviewer showed what become of his so called gorilla glass on his 920 without any sp, it made me determined to put the sp to prevent the similar issue from happening to my phone.1. I couldn't find any from the stores. 2. The guy at the nokia store suggested that I didn't need one. Fortunately it's barely noticeable but I'm pretty upset and pissed off. I didn't put it together with keys or anything. The only time it could come into contact with anything is when I get out of the car and I'm holding the phone and the keys together for a few seconds. Gorilla glass 3 my ass. anyway, if u dont want to add any more scratches i suggest u apply sp asap. can really rely on the gorilla glass.. it's just gimmick.
