Getting Started

|
pls bear in mind fren, IT industry, especially IT industry, it look for hands on / practical experience/knowledge.
fren, b4 u take up those course n take the exam, have u really study IT industry? what does this ind. really need for / look for?
does anyone tell u that once u get those "paper", u will get the job relate? cisco, does it need hands on or paper to proof? windows, does it need hands on or paper to proof? the "windows" i mean here is those that knowledge cover on the book and not cover. IT ind. really ask for hands on, not like other job, admin, account that u can start from the scratch.
well, IT do hav job that u can start frm bottom/scratch but not mean for those ccna/mcse! if u really want to jump to those field, u better arm urself!! u swallow the whole book of ccna/mcse, get the flying mark on the result, does it mean u able to handle those hardware?
again, bear in mind, IT knowledge, writing on the book is all abt THEORY, but come to real life, is all abt PRACTICAL. does the book teach u everything abt that hardware? abt every situation/scenario? teach u how to solve every single problem/issue happen? how abt the problem u face does not teach u on the book?
go n check with those work as network engineer, system administrator, talk with them, u will get a picture how does they work, what does this field look for, nn u will know what does those field mean.
and.... there is one thing i want to phrase out, THINK OUT OF THE BOX, i know, i m frm this environment too. every single cent provide to u is parents/family hard work income. n i believe, lots of family hav such a thinking or "myth" that take this course -> study this course -> graduate on this course -> get the job relate to this course.
so our thinking been "frame", if i study A, n come out work on B, our family, especially parents will think it is wasting the money last time they invest or perhaps ourselves too coz we get to different envirenment. this kind of thinking hav set themself to a straight line, with 1 direction only.
there is lot of opportunity that u can go to the field u want but u got to understand the environment that it is require. i believe u hav realise that those field require experience, then y not u think of other way, study it, n make urself jump to the field u want? u got to know that those equipment r work on real time, does company allow u to touch the hardware if there is nothing happen? unless they hav extra router/switch for u to play around. if the router/server is down, again, remember, it is real time, all the folks unable to continue their work, u got no experience, do company let u sit in front n start to scratch what is going wrong or they need someone hav experience, having a "clue" whats go wrong n fix it out?
frm the msg u post, i assume u hav no work experince, hav little idea abt IT industry or the work environment, just gradute. what u need is experience, yes, experince, no matter what kind of experience! start frm bottom, learn frm bottom, then u starting to work on it, touch on it, n gain knowledge/xperience, n slowly u will hav chance to work on what hav want frm early.
work frm the low level, IT support, support end user stuff, u will starting to know that u known little or nothing!! trust me.....
cert means nothing, experience count!! go n find out frm ur fren/ frm those hav been working or u may ask the interviewer what kind of candidate they look for, what requirement they look for..... then u will realise....
go to pasar malam, throw a rock to a pool of public, who hav no degree? who hav no mcse or ccna or ccnp? but do all of them hav xperience? do they work on it? this pool of public is same like u! take the study, pass the exam, n want to be on top of the world, does this really happen? there is no free lunch on the world. u got to work hard, earn everything that u need to arm on the shoulder, then only u success.
do not put urself on burden, look of job that fresh graduate are welcome/training will be provide/work experience no necessary. go to interview, then u will starting to know what actually does IT want frm u, wht u hav lack of, wht u hav been failed else other success. then u know what u should prepare for urself.
hopefully my 2 cents opinion may giv u some idea/clue/understanding/realistic
wish u all the best
