Oh Great IT Guru, ape backup program to use that can back-up everything ( programs, password, n EVERYTHING) in case HDD kaput? So that I dun have to reinstall EVERYTHING all over again for a new HDD.

I manyak confuse as to wat is image, boleh enlighten this old IT noobie?

It depends on what you want to backup.

For daily files, if it is that important, then do daily backup to pendrive or external HDD, otherwise just a weekly backup will do. Copy and paste nia those folders you want to backup. If you want, you can create subfolders by date backuo so that you have few copies of the backup.

You can also alternate 2 or more external HDD, just in case the external HDD also kaput? Since the files are that important right?

These files should not be too difficult to do backup, relatively small unless you do design work.. Dont tell me yr jav collection is important

For windows system, it can be done using the link I gave you, freeware ghost. Since your notebook just reinstalled, you can experiment how to ghost the image and most important how to restore.

The frequency of the system type of backup could be done once you got all the software installed, together with windows update or if later you got new and important software being installed.

an image is like the whole disc but in soft copy format. you run it like putting the physical disc into the CD tray except this is done by softwares such as Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools

reminds me of last time i use acronis to create image of dozens of notebooks released in those 2 years. lol... walk-in customers that want to format i charge rm30 to rm50 depend on mood, help them backup, ghost back the image, all done in less than 30 mins easy money

nope, i'm not that smart. when new model come, for example new shipment come, acer got 5 models, we install win xp and win vista (back then no 7), and we create images of those new models after we install driver and standard software. if got 160gb and 250gb models, then need different image. and we also create 2 partitions.

so when customers come, mostly is new notebooks that don hav os, or recent notebooks that have virus inside, we just move all backup files into d driver, then use boot disc to wipe c, scan d for virus, and ghost back c using our ready-made images.

IMHO, get Z1, got image stabilizer. 1020, looks par with Z1.. yet Z1 has more advantage.

During Night shot, the screen on 1020, u can't see sh*t captain. Can't even focus on the subject.

While Z1, what you see is what you get from the screen. Therefore you can focus on the subject even on dim conditions.
