Despite all the suggestions for slim casings and naked phones, my personal recommendation is to use something that covers the entire back and bezel, and should have a lip extending onto the edge of the screen as well.

My take on those "cases" with exposed top and bottom bezels are that they offer very very minimal protection during a drop.

Spigen SGP case with cover is nice, especially for ladies.  Been using for my Note 1 and my wife's S3 and Note II.  She is loving it.      I change to UAG though for my own Note II to get a different look but feel unsecured initially because the large piece of glass in front is naked.    Now get used to it already.

Agreed... my sister in law who owns a note 2.... fell from stairs and the note 3 dropped and bounced of to the street... her first worry was not even her but the phone

she saw a long crack on the screen and she thought... oh shit!!! but it turned out to be scratch on the screen protector only... after changing the SP, the phone was okay...

Don't have plastic cover at the unit. it actually look nice from the Note 3 screen but when i go back and open with my PC i also MEH lol

yes light conditions is bad. All the photos of Note 3 and Gear I have to use flash.
Maybe as u said is fog but it doesnt happen when I do macro, look at the photos of my Olympus and the Samsung sign
