The back cover, is it hard plastic made to look like leather, or plastic covered with real leather, or some fake leather-ish soft rubber material?

NFC needs to have a coil coming very close contact to other NFC antennas. It also needs to be of a certain shape. The antenna is very different from other RF antennas on the phone. If its embedded underneath the battery then it is too far away, and is out of spec as far as the NFC for mobiles spec is concerned.

So for sure no one knows. Weird, because even from reading all the IFC coverage news, none of the sites actually describe in detail what the back cover is actually like. I'd love to see it in real leather with a solid internal spine. Then it'll be hard to scratch, can develop a nice stained look, and actually feel nice in your hands. Compared to cheap crap disposable plastic feeling on S3, S4 and N2.

They're gonna die anyway. I eat them. Daily. Don't mind if its faux leather. At least something nice to hold not crap cheap thin plastic that looks and feels like chap fan microwave oven box.

PETA might want to have a word with you... I still wish for leather. The leather ipad smart covers are sooooo nice.
