Got 20 Malaya for my 2 ft tank from Mr. Ray yesterday. Recommended seller. Just Got back home from work today and found out almost 50% of the hair algae gone! I'm very impressed with the Malaya. Much better than the Yamatos I got earlier which never seems to touch the hair algae.

QUOTE(arrow @ Feb 12 2014, 01:57 AM) Good to hear that, i use 30 tails in 2ft test tank(intentionally infested with 60% fully covered with hair algae and some staghorn algae) ,after 24hrs 80% hair/staghorn algae gone, total control within 72 hrs. Till now hair algae/staghorn never able to regrowth whatever Malaya is still around. Now need to feed the Malaya shrimp food. Jiro, they also very good in clearing fish food debris and diatoms in soil, in some incident they got killed by digging ammonia landmines in soil and eat poisonous rotten stuff in tank. As of today, almost all of the hair algae is gone! Since there is not much algae left i think they started to feast on some of the rotten plant roots in my tank. perhaps i really need to get some shrimp food soon.

QUOTE(arrow @ Feb 12 2014, 03:53 PM) Great , less than 72hrs control here, beside shrimp food , they happily take fish food like algae wafer. Just don't overfeed them, once a days is enough, just feed the quantity they can finish within 1-2 hrs. Did some of them gain and changed color? Full black with golden stripe so far is the most beautiful color they change to. Yes, some of them changed to black and some to other colors. I was surprised when I see a black Malaya in there. I agree it looks really cool.
