Choose the design you like most. If both also don't like, look for other cars.

Both cars also I like lor, that's why hard for me to decide. Honestly I think Suprima looks better, but in term of practicality, Preve wins. Plus interior of Preve is better than Suprima's I guess. But still exterior design, Suprima win.

interior of preve better?? because of the colour?
*
haha. Yes, and looks more neat and less pasticky. laugh.gif

QUOTE(mystvearn @ Feb 23 2014, 10:39 PM)
Comes down to, do you need that boot? Preve 5" screen right? SS got 7" screen.
IINM, SS got bigger rims. Though if you like comfort, this may be a slight downside. Engine is tuned slightly better. What else SS have over Preve?
I thought SS got better materials than Preve??? unsure.gif
*
Ya, thats the main reason why I'm in doubt, the boot space, either sedan or hatchback. Im a single guy, but planning to get married this year or next year, so let say later already have family baby etc, the boot space will helps me a lot right to carry big stuff such as stroller. Need to plan about it now coz if buy this car, will be using it for at least 4-5 years. So need to decide properly.

QUOTE(MasBoleh! @ Feb 24 2014, 01:47 AM)
Since you cant decide, how about think it based on financial sense? Preve now is cheaper a few k compares to Suprima. That few thousand ringgit can be your maintenance and fuel expenses wink.gif

Other than the leather and different infotainment system, what else is better than Preve?  hmm.gif
*
Ya. Thats the other reason to look into, preve is cheaper, but only for few thousands ringgit. So i dont think its gonna be a problem for me. If u, what will u take? Preve or Suprima?

QUOTE(mrhaz @ Feb 24 2014, 09:32 AM)
why do u say preve wins on practicality and interior design? what do u seek for bro?
its important to get a car based on ur needs. else, u'll regret paying it later.
i got mine bcoz of the 6 airbag, leather seats + trims, 7" android HU (which can be manipulated) + 6speakers, hill assist, parking sensors + reverse camera (very bright even at night), DRL, blue colour, 17" rims, better response CVT, euro style rear headrest and the hatchback.
strong body cage, turbo engine, auto head lamp + wiper are all also in preve..
hope this helps  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
What i meant by practicality is because Preve got boot space, so in future in case need to carry big stuff its not gonna be a problem. Plus the FC for Preve is better than Suprima right? Coz I will be using this car a lot in city driving, so gonna stuck in jem, so need a car with a better FC. But once in a month will do the long distance driving back to my hometown.

Btw u own a Suprima? How is it? U satisfy with your car? Got any problem? coz people usually scared to buy proton bcoz of quality issues, such as when I read prevoc facebook page, got few of them complain need to send car back to SC even just after bring the new car out from SA. I think that is unacceptable, coz u spend a lot of money to buy a new car, and finds out the car got problem on the first day.

I afraid this might happen to me. If the probability is high, i will just buy the new City. sad.gif

Lol so I assume you got a lot of money and dunno where to spend. If I am in this situation I will go for suprima s as it got more feature and you feel more unique since not many people buy it. Haha..
*
Lol no lah bro. I mean rm5-7k difference is not very big and significant for long term loan. Mana ada banyak duit. Currently I'm just driving a kelisa. But I need to pass my car to my little sister bcoz she still studying. Thus here I am thinking of buying a new car.

Im a fresh grad, just started working in oil and gas industry, so the pay is quite ok if not good, so wanna pamper myself a bit with buying a car for myself. Orang muda bro. biggrin.gif

And yes, one of the reason why i like suprima becoz not so many people using it yet. Very rare car to see on the road even in KL. Even me myself when I see Suprima drive pass thru me,I was like WOW, nice car. Lol. thumbup.gif

If go for loan then better take preve. Although you loan through bank but with added interest the few thousand ringgit become a huge different. So since you plan to marry after a year, the added boot space may be an added advantage.

My advise for now go for preve 1st as you may still got other commitment such as house loan , after that you go for better car like continental car as I am expecting you to get promote and have better salary smile.gif
*
lol. Thats why cant decide. But thanks a lot for the views. Really appreciate and all are taken into consideration. notworthy.gif

No lah bro. Biasa2 saja. Buy car also cannot really utilise it. In a month can only use for 2 weeks. Another 2 weeks offshore so just gonna leave the car at home with no one touching it. Lol.

Preve! brows.gif

*hijacking suprima s thread

the latest premium variant of preve have covered suprima's exec variant already (with exception of 7" HU, 6 speakers, rims, achilles tyres). 508 litres boot space in preve is a lot, but u still can fit in kids stroller inside suprima too.

i almost buy suprima, but after extreme consideration bought preve for sedan look. (way better after u put in R3 BK imo) tongue.gif
*
Oh so u already went thru the same dilemma as me right now? And finally u decided to go with the Preve. What color bro? Your car got lemon unit? Its good or ada rosak2? And how much for BK R3? I plan to put phantom BK once i get the car. Its cheaper, and i like the spoiler. Lol. Eh, did u regret or not for not taking suprima? brows.gif

Huiyo work offshore lagi. I am sure you can afford continental car in future hehe. Ok la good luck in purchasing your car, can't wait what is the end result of your decision hehe.
*
Haha. I think most probably will go with Preve bro. Listen to your advise. biggrin.gif

preve.. cannot say satisfied, this car no major issue, but alot small small problems which can be equally frustrating. now whenever i drive above 80km/h, i can smell my engine metal smell.. shit..
*
Wow, Im sorry to hear that bro. I didnt expect it would be that bad. How old is your preve? Must be sad mang if buy new car but happen things like that. Now im worried already to buy Proton. cry.gif

My cousins, same age work in this industry, offshore. Matric pointer only 2.6. He work with private international company. 1st pay USD2k/month. His jobs is calculating where to put this oil platform at sea. 1st car, Civic 2.0. That time I have not finished studied yet.

I am very sure you are planning a massive wedding. RM50k difference Civic and SS higher with Preve laugh.gif
*
Lol. Your cousin is lucky. And yes, o&g pays quite well compared with other industries, hence comes with the high risk of working environment. sad.gif

Civic is a good car. At first I planned to take Mazda 3, but after thorough consideration, better start with something cheaper, and work my way up. Plus Im still young, so better save money for something else. And no I didnt plan to have massive wedding, Im a simple guy only. Plan to save money for a house. biggrin.gif

Guys, do u all satisfy with your Suprima? I plan to buy Kia Cerato, but I heard Suprima got good discount + free service. So now my mind kinda swift a bit to Suprima. Overall do u guys satisfy with the car? I heard the FC & NVH for Suprima is not so good. Is it true?

What are your priorities when it comes to buying a car? From my point of view, the Suprima's interior will probably not be as impressive as say a Cerato, the City and the likes. If you're more picky about a car's interior material and fitting quality, I suppose it isn't really the best choice.

What it can offer though that most cars around its price range like the Cerato cannot match is probably its handling, and by far I believe. If this is important for you, I'd say look no further. If you can contend with cars that have a relatively average/mediocre handling but better interior fitment and etc, then go for the Cerato.

P/S: Not an owner. I speak based the owners' opinion, feedbacks and others relating to the Suprima. Oh, and the FC? Don't expect it to be good when it comes to city driving. It shines when it comes to highway driving; not so much in stop-start traffic.
*
I think I care more about NVH and the interior premium feeling which Suprima lacks of. I think will just proceed with Cerato then.

QUOTE(dares @ Jun 8 2014, 05:23 PM)
Cerato aint exactly 1NZFE either whistling.gif

Korean cars are not known for pretty FC figures anyway.
*
Yes, but Cerato FC can be considered good for its size.

QUOTE(dares @ Jun 8 2014, 05:28 PM)
Pick Cerato if you mind the Proton badge. Suprima have quality issues ie, rattling, tailgate that is difficult to open, not-so-stellar NVH, poor interior fitment etc....What mitigate these shortcomings is the cost of ownership: not just the price of the car is cheaper, the spare parts are cheaper and better availability, and there are Proton SCs anywhere.

But if you want a nice looking car and don't mind so much on performance and handling, Cerato it is. But, buying either car you will still have to suffer the same question from relatives and friends "WHY U NO BUY VIOSS???"  rclxms.gif
*
HAHA. Exactly bro! Most of my family members bising already when they know i wanna buy Korean car. They all ask me to buy Vios and City instead. Lol.

Fortunate to have both cars.

Cerato has better interior fit and finish then Suprima. Cerato is for people who like to travel in comfort and win for rear passengers. FC town driving better than Suprima. Outstation about the same. I believe Cerato now comes with 7" screen. Mine still the 4.3". Also the Cerato I bought comes with 3 year free service/oil thingy. SS only now have. My SS does not have that free 3 year service.

Suprima is for people who want to get there fast. Rear passengers will suffer  laugh.gif The 1.8l Cerato is hopeless between 80km-120 km on B-roads (non-highway roads). Hopeless because the max torque at about 5k RPM. There is no way to overtake quickly in the Cerato. You need a huge distance to overtake cause you need to rev the engine to get to 5k RPM. Then when you do get that 5K RPM, your overtaking chances are gone. To make matters worse, the EPS is dull. No road feel. I wasted 30 mins total driving time unable to overtake which is annoying. Arriving 10 mins late (reported by waze is annoying especially since I claw back 30mins with same route using the SS). The turbo in SS is intoxicating. Even better since it comes at 2k RPM and stays there until 4k RPM before dropping a little. Max torque gives you lots of overtaking opportunities with lots of power to spare.

Which am I more satisfied with:
Daily commute-including jams: Cerato or SS. Makes little difference. Rear passengers will prefer Cerato
Outstation driving: SS

Which one more beautiful: SS>Cerato. Particularly rims. The Cerato front end tries to hard at imitating BMWs.
Rear end Cerato is better.

Interior HU: Cerato better. Actually Cerato has different layer bits, but the bits which you touch are the soft touch bits. SS has a good soft touch dashboard, but no use since my hand is not going to touch all the way to the screen. Cerato has better soft touch management. Though one part I hate about the Cerato is the steering wheel. Too big, too hard and the stitching at the lower left and right corners hurts my hands if I grasp tightly especially during cruising.  SS steering is miles better.

Coldest AC: SS is way cooler than Cerato. Cerato is better at temp management. SS seems to think the entire car needs to be the level you set before slowing down the AC. Cold AC is fine with me.

Aside from that I believe Cerato is better than Suprima. It is worth the price difference. Just don't buy it if you like to drive. If you stay at highway place all the time town driving, then it is a good choice. However, since the SS is RM20k cheaper but has slightly worse FC, I got extra 20k of fuel income to play with compared to the Cerato. I'm reserving part of that 20k to upgrade better HU and converting the rear end to twin exhaust...if R3 will come out a kit about it.
*
Wow thanks a lot bro for the long and helpful review. So overall u satisfy with Cerato? Between SS and Cerato, which car gives u less headache?

In the end I think I will stick with Cerato. Coz afraid with the quality of Proton car. Must be sad if u spend lots of money to make loan for new car, but ended up need to always visit SC to fix the car.

QUOTE(Mr.Docter @ Jun 9 2014, 12:02 AM)
Not to be biased whatsoever, but NVH will be SIGNIFICANTLY reduced by foaming the chasis. It cost less than 1.5k for the whole package & can be done within 1-3 hours without voiding the warranty or anything.

It also will provide a firmer, confidences rides too in term of handling.

May I know if you consider that as well?
NVH is something that bugging to too before decided to opt for Suprima S. But upon reading, I found the solution that I just mentioned. That just somehow seal my decision laugh.gif
*
Have u ever tried Cerato bro? Go try Suprima and Cerato on the same day. Then u will fell what I felt before, the premium feeling of driving Cerato. Yes u can try to improve NVH of the car, but it will just help a bit, i mean around 30-40% the most, in the end the noise will still be there.
