QUOTE(waveweaver @ Oct 8 2013, 08:38 PM) Then if you root your phone..the Knox warranty flag will go 0x1 and it's unresetable. Yeah. The rest is pretty straight forward..you can flash custom or stock ROM but not any downgrade. That's what i asked before. If i root, will it effect my phone, beside the warranty. I don't mind about the warranty anyway. If all ok, then i'll maybe root. Thanks! |

QUOTE(waveweaver @ Oct 8 2013, 08:46 PM) Yes..should be okay for rooting. But flashing different kernel or custom recovery sometimes bring problem. I sofbricked my phone twice and need to go to service centre. Oh. If i wanna flash custom ROM, wouldn't i need a custom recovery?Safest way is either you root and stay on stock rooted ROM or flash custom ROM and use it without tweaking anything else. Well, thinking of flashing Wanam or ARHD. |

QUOTE(waveweaver @ Oct 8 2013, 09:04 PM) Look at that custom ROM thread and follow each and every step. I see. But after root, what recovery that i can flash? CWM or TWRP?Then you should be okay. If that custom ROM need to be flash via CWM then use CWM and not TWRP or Philz. Like I said..follow each step carefully to avoid any problem. Good luck to you Or look at the ROM i wanna flash and use that required recovery? Cause i know the steps from scratch are, Root > Flash recovery > Flash ROM > Flash other Kernel (optional). Right? I always flash ROMs with S3 and Asus Prime before this. Thanks. |

QUOTE(waveweaver @ Oct 8 2013, 09:15 PM) Forget bout S3 flashing...with SELinux and Knox combo..everything changed. Using different custom recovery can get your phone into bootloop. Got it. Root phone then pick which custom ROM you want. If that custom rom state use CWM then only you flash CWM. After flash and install CWM..do Nandroid backup first..then proceed with flashing that custom ROM. Thanks! |

QUOTE(waveweaver @ Oct 18 2013, 03:07 PM) Depends on the firmware itself. Some firmware come without wipe but there are some firmware that wipe clean your phone. I see. Itchy to flash German's 4.3. That's why we need to do backup before doing any flashing. But for upgrading firmware...better do a clean flashing to avoid any FC problem later on. Can't wait for Malaysian. Dunno how long til they will release. |

QUOTE(waveweaver @ Oct 23 2013, 06:56 PM) I believe updates are based on our firmwares. .no..? I'm not sure.If we use M'sian firmware...we receive M'sian OTA only..not Korean or any other countries OTA. Last year, using S3, i went to Aussie and put their simcard. Right after that, i received an update. I dunno whether its a coincidence or what. I didn't check (or cant remember |

QUOTE(waveweaver @ Oct 23 2013, 08:00 PM) OTA is not a full firmware...sortta receive whatever new or patching only. That's why the OTA size is small compared to full firmware. Yeah. Make sense. If you flash other country firmware..that's okay as you flash full firmware hence changing the whole phone system... You can still flashing certain part such as modem..kernel..etc Wanna flash the new 4.3 but afraid if my data wiped. |

QUOTE(waveweaver @ Oct 23 2013, 08:12 PM) Make a full backup first lar...just in case it's a wipe firmware. Does Helium backup the data too?If you're rooted..use Titanium Backup. If not rooted...try Helium backup. Like Titanium, it backups both application & their data. Want to root, but my status already Enforcing. |
