Good day all, just wanna get sharing on how's the depreciation rate for Audi Q5 (recon) or brand new import by recon dealer. Hope anyone experienced to join this discussion.

Hard to say bro, the rate fluctuates based on the condition of the car as well as the spec. Usually the S-Line ones with full kit (i.e. full sound system and navigation package) tend to hold a higher value versus the lower specced models.

Hi Mavic, its a brand new car year mfg 2012 but import by recon car dealer. The spec as below.

My expect averaging depreciattion rate for after 3 years down the road is about 13% per year. If 5 years maybe can averaging down to 10% per year. Is my expectation logic?

How much the asking price?

It really depends bro, for example, there are situations where car 2nd hand value can depreciate or appreciate. For example, the Polo GTI was initially sold circa 136k and now it is priced at >RM150k. If you sell a 2nd hand one for 140k you still can make a profit and get a sale. Of course this is just an example. There are a lot of external factors that come into play but your maths does make logical sense bro

Exactly my point. Even with the fluctuation of prices, people still know the real value of the car hence no demand. Wait another year and probably there is a chance you can get the car at a very good price.

13% per year is generally ok for a car at that price level. I'm comparing it with my old BMW 3er. The biggest things that change this equation is typically the introduction of a new car. So in your case with the Audi Q5 being replaced roughly in 2015 time frame the value would start dropping faster past that year.

Also what if Audi Malaysia announces the Audi Q5 Hybrid next year.

Ya..the new launch Q5 model is one of my consideration too. Bcz it's estimate held on 2015. I drive not more than 2 years then become old model dy. haiz..

I don't think Q5 2nd hand value can be appreciate..depreciate for sure...anyway thanks bro.

Life cycle of any models will get shorter and shorter......unless you buy some exotic names or vintage cars!

You see the Koreans.....they have the shortest life cycle now!

Even the Germans also gonna change or update their models more often than they used to be

....if you like the recently updated Q5 ...just do it! You wont regret it.....

It is still a CBU unit.....unlike the X3 and the XC60

Just one note, there are quite a few recond Audi encounter problems with S-tronics, much like VW has DSG problem.

It's safer to buy Q5 with 8AT (ZF automatic box) Quattro, and fix S-line kits yourself. Talk to Euromobil you may find some bargain around.

For the money you planned to spend, better secure a car with 4 years warranty.

The 8 Speed Tiptronic Transmission is a better version compared to the initial 7 Speed S-Tronic Box found on earlier Q5!

The 8 Speed Box is faster than Audi 6 Speed Manual Box

With the current Q5 , the 2.0TFSI with 8AT will get you 7.1sec doing the 0-100kmh sprint
While the manual box with the same engine...will get 7.6secs

Dont get too excited about the S-Line from UK spec....coz the local car is fully loaded with S-Line features already!

Sline feature for example: The 225HP/340Nm..2.0TFSI only for SLine in UK.....and in UK ...they also have a 2.0TFSI 180HP which we dont carry locally....

Another note to consider......get the smaller wheel(18inch) .....the bigger rims(20inch) will make your Q5 ride less comfortable, and most importantly.....cost more to maintain in long run!!

I really don't study the euromobile spec in MYS. Just saw it on the road and spec looks diff with recon spec..it's looks much more better than euromobile. That's y I look for UK spec from recon dealer. 18inch rim surely comfortable than 20inch but fierce less. so how's the conclusion bro? Go get the Euromobil version.....the one you suggest on Mudah looks almost exactly like what the Euromobil facelift version..the version has been here since November 2012! If you see different, that one probably the pre facelift version...

With 4 Years Warranty......against whatever warranty given by the Grey Importer!I guess you need to think twice!

btw, my customer's Q5 driven over 200k km , repair gearbox is rm 17k

VW's DSG gearbox and Audi gearbox have defects. There was an recall internationally this year. Buying from official dealer, this defect is fixed FOC. For grey importer, too bad.

Actually, most of these Audi grey importers are maximizing their opportunities due to inefficient official dealer. Audi should change their dealers or come in direct like Merc or BMW.

I went to see the new A5 sportback. A new one with full spec including MMI is around RM 371k. Come with 4 years warranty. But, the grey importer can ask RM 320k for a lower spec 2012 without any warranty. The difference is grey importer can deliver immediately but the official dealers have to wait for 3 months if you want MMI.

A5 S/B comes with MMI but without Navigation correct, which you have to top up some sum for it. Don't get A5 from grey import, as there is a batch (which I am not sure what year made) has got oil consumption issue. And S-tronics is not the most robust gearbox in the world, although it has less issues compare with 7 speed dry DSG but some of the Audi club members do suffer some issue with it.

Its a pity A5 S/B does not come with the latest ZF 8AT with Quattro, a real pity coz that is one hell bullet proof gearbox.

Back to Q5, on the same basis, that's why I suggested TS to take the Q5 with 8AT Quattro, the price premium over the grey import is worth it.
