It was prophesied Intel Atom should to be dead by now.
Why is it still alive and kicking? Dang... quad-core some more. hmm.gif
*
That's because Intel finally realise if they don't pick up the slack, they will be shut off the tablet / phablet (whatever name we want to call it).
This Bay Trail Atom is manufactured on 22nm process (same as Haswell), same IGPU as HD4000 but less powerful, and support both W8 AND Android. (there was a rumour that Asus was planning a model that can dual boot to W8 and Android. probably did not pan out)
The giant is not going down without a fight sweat.gif

The Netbook is dead.
Long Live the "Netbook" laugh.gif thumbup.gif

How about the 64 bit version with 4gb ram? I read somewhere that Asus gonna release  around early next year
*
QUOTE(Jason @ Oct 22 2013, 11:31 PM)
Is this NOT 64bit?

I think the price is definitely a killer.. 32GB not an issue since you can expand with the MicroSD slot with another 64GB...

I like the fact that it is less than 600 grams for the tablet only...
*
No 4GB RAM, part of reason is it is running 32-bit W8.1.
Why 32-bit W8.1? Because that is the current version of W8.1 that support "connected standby" (a power management feature).

What is "connected standby" ? Fancy tech talk for describing an x86 OS that can instantly turn on and off like an iPad, and can receive Skype calls and notifications when it's 'off' just like an ipad.

Better description of "connected standby" is here:

You are right, but to clarify, when W8.1 64 bit with connected standby is available, T100 will fully support it as the Bay Trail CPU is 64 bit capable, and W8.1 needs 2GB ram to run 64 bit version

This T100 looking better and better  drool.gif

64bit W8 support for connected standby, 2014 maybe.

Dell is heavier, full HD screen, but definitely more expensive. T100 is definitely on my list due to the fact that its lightweight, and runs full x86 programs.

Venue Pro has 8" and 11" models smile.gif

He was talking about 11"
I was responding about 11"

rolleyes.gif

I said FHD screen, does the 8" have FHD screen? No right? People comparing apple and oranges, you keluar a durian.
*
Buddy, I was just commenting that Venue Pro has 8" and 11". Which part of that sentence is so offending? smile.gif

What's wrong with comparing T100 with Venue Pro 8" when both has HD screen?

T100 is available in only 1 form factor, whereas Venue Pro has 2, which mean more choices. icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm not here to pitch 1 brand over another, just having a cordial discussion.

ASUS has T100 and T300 tongue.gif

T300 is a 13" summore running on 4th gen Haswell processors tongue.gif
*
Exactly. T300 is on Haswell i3/5/7, similarly Venue Pro 11 has Haswell i3 and i5 spec.
Whereas Venue Pro 8 is on Bay Trail (comparable to T100).

T300 sure is unique form factor for 13".

Btw, Venue 8 Pro is going at USD299 now hmm.gif but no keyboard, no Office, stylus need to add USD35.

ASUS no longer ships the initial RM1299 T100 with 32G eMMC storage. The next batch of T100 will be priced at RM1399 with 32G SSD + 500 Sata HDD hybrid.
*
I'm not really sure it is 32GB SSD hmm.gif That Asus Malaysia brochure is full of errors at time tongue.gif
But if it is really SSD instead of eMMC, I'm happy smile.gif
QUOTE(ajay67 @ Nov 15 2013, 09:12 AM)
to me that's fair.. but still not what i want. still hoping there will be 64GB version coming (even eMMC is acceptable) and without the HDD. coz it will only add overall weight which is not what i expect in this type of device.
*
The HDD is with the keyboard dock, will not increase the weight of tablet.

Through all the discussion on the weight of the HDD, we need to keep in mind that the keyboard base / dock has to be a bit "weighty" to balance the tablet when it dock hmm.gif

If your review back Asus Fonepad ( not Fonepad 7),
Games and some apps work very bad, low framerate on 720p.
If Intel still not updated their x86 to ARM library, I'm sure most of android apps have incompatibility issues.
*
tyring hard to understand your point hmm.gif
But this T100 run the full W8.1, not the half-assed W8.1RT.
I think if you really want to run android apps on this, you can try any of those android emulator for windows hmm.gif

eMMC is one of the type of SSD........

its nothing wrong to call eMMC as SSD, some manufacturer doing such
*
that's false advertising in my book tongue.gif
eMMC, SSD, SD card, USB flash ... are all made from NAND.
but SSD has major speed advantage over eMMC, also the controller in SSD ensure that all writes are evenly spread across all NAND (which is important consider the limited write cycle) (firmware for controller in SSD is really important), ...
Anyway, I'm perfectly fine with eMMC in such devices. Just that brand should not mislead consumers.

Dell Latitude 10 tablet with Clover Trail is going at RM1.3k.
I'm just waiting for Venue 11 Pro.
Yes, SG has Venue 11 Pro already, but no Venue 8.
