Typical Asus, just like the last time when they first launched the Transformer Eee Pad, it was very hard to find available stock. After searching high and low I finally got fed up and went for a Acer A500 instead.

Hopefully a better Win8 tab alternative shows up in the mean time, but it looks so far the T100 beats its current competitors very hard in terms of bang for buck (eg. HP omni 10, Dell Venue 11 Pro): lower price, bundled dock, 500gb hdd, ori office, full usb3 and lighter weight. Just losing in the screen resolution and cpu speed dept.

On the first page for Senq's December offers, with a extra RM50 discount note. Also mentioned stocks to arrive mid December.

I got here a RM50 senq voucher also, will see if can stack up the voucher to get the tablet at RM1299, plus Senq's free 1 yr warranty add on top of the asus 1 yr.

if you are talking about the 50RM cash voucher/discount --- its the bi yearly members reward program where SenHeng/Q gives out two RM50 discounts. The discount can be applied immediately to your purchase. no if you add that to the regular member discount -- you can get the device for RM1299. Will go tomorrow to see if I can pre order the device .. soo scare it will run out of stock again.

Yeah I got 2 pieces RM50 voucher with my name hardcoded on it, received under the membership program. Hopefully can be used to drop the price down to 1299.

Did not notice the extreme weight gain 1.1kg to 1.7kg. It doesn't really sound logical as 2.5" hdd is around 100 - 150 grams normally, example:

Just got my unit yesterday from a local shop after pre-order for 1 week. Original plan was to wait for Senq stock to arrive but needed for a trip so just grab it since it's arrived yesterday. Paid full price 1399 but got a free SD card and bluetooth mouse at least.

This thing is light and surprisingly the screen pixels are very fine, even better than my acer a500 with higher res. The tablet charged to full power just under 2 hours fresh from the box. Checking the properties show the 500gb drive as "HGST HTS 545050A7E680" ssd. Playback of 1080p mkv movie streamed over wifi is super smooth, even when playing it in dual window mode alongside firefox. Speakers are very loud and clear.

Build quality is quite good. No flexing of the tablet, no creaking loose parts. The docking hinge twisting action is smooth and not too tight. The plastic material on the tablet backing however is a f***ing nightmare, fingerprints build up EXTREMELY fast.

In the box they provide the MS office licence key, but no Win 8 key anywhere? How to format and re-install next time?

Do help me check whether there's a clip sound when pressing the tablet. Mine seems to have some sound when pressing it. hmm.gif

The only clip sound I get is when mounting the tablet into the keyboard which is normal. Press it down and it will "clip clip" twice, then everything else is quiet.

**EDIT: I put it side by side with a 1st gen Transformer TF101 (Android) and can see the huge difference in quality finishing. The old TF101's texture and solid metal parts really outshines the T100, but it's heavier and bigger. The screen and keyboard on the TF101 is noticeably bigger than this T100's. The keypress action on T100 however is more tactile and responsive vs. the TF101's rubbery keypress.

I see the option for factory reset under the Win8 right slide-in menu:

settings -> change pc settings -> update and recovery -> recovery

Remove everything and reinstall Windows
If you want to recycle your PC or start over completely, you can reset it to factory settings

This should be the uefi / bootloader option mentioned by mr. ultraman above.

Looks to be sufficient, so when the time comes can use this option. Not gonna kacau it for now since everything is running smoothly. The bloatware issue doesn't look too bad so far, most of it is the native Win8 stuff (xbox music, video, netflix etc.)

btw, how does it feel compared to TF101? i also have one, so can at least know how it performs. <--- i was not abke to find any demo unit.

can i assume it's definitely faster than tf101? i could not play 1080p movies on TF101.
I think the feel is generally the same, just that you will notice the T100's smaller size right away. Performance wise it definitely kills the TF101, but not really fair to say since it's Win8 vs Android. 1080p playback is superb.

Screen quality wise, contrast + colour saturation is good, and it doesnt have the annoying warm cast on the TF101. Max brightness on T100 is not that impressive though, both Acer a500 and TF101 are brighter.
