Hello all,

I bought an Adidas Originals Liverpool Track Top on Ebay. Seller is from UK with a lot of positive ratings. Product just arrived and I have a feeling it might be fake. Can anyone confirm?

Thanks in advance.

I'm also thinking of e-mailing Adidas Malaysia or to visit an Adidas shop to verify whether it's genuine or fake. Can be done right?

The thing that makes me suspicious the most are the three stripes on the sleeves. As far as I know, the sleeve stripes on genuine Adidas shirts are three individual pieces of material that are sewn onto the clothing and they actually rise up a little. The stripes on the jacket in question is actually one flat piece of material with red and white stripes and the whole thing is sewn onto the sleeves. You can see the difference in the photo below. Blue is an original jacket while red is the jacket in question.

This is the inside of the sleeves. You can see that there's only two rows of stitching holding the piece of material with the stripes onto the jacket.

Collar label. The one on left is an authentic label, right is the jacket in question. Note the wordings. The authentic one (left) seems clearer while the right one seems to be poorly done.

The underside of the collar label. Left is authentic label, right is the jacket. You can see that the quality seems better on the left than on the right. Also, I'm not sure how significant this is, but note that when the label is flipped up, the words on the jacket label (right) is upside down compared to the authentic one (left).

Some other photos.

Looks legit. It should be authentic... the number on the price tag matches the one on the washing tag

Quoting the above from the other thread.

I was thinking the same thing myself, but I was also thinking that the tags and their numbers can easily be faked to match each other.

What I'm more curious about though are the sleeve stripes. They look really cheap to me. It's just one piece of fabric colored to look like stripes and then sewn onto the jacket. Is this normal?

The jacket is authentic.

Just because the stitching style on the 3 stripes is different, doesn't make it fake. Even the fake ones does the stitching correctly for jerseys/shirts with 3 stripes that are stitched in such way.

One thing that tells apart that this is authentic is this:

No fake jersey has this tag. This is called the adidas security tag, similar to the one that nike has. It has details such as month/year the shirt was manufactured, design code and factory code where the shirt was manufactured.

If you look closely it shows:

10/10 = shirt was manufactured on Oct 2010
V14702 = design code
AGC002 = factory code

Beneath the adidas security tag, there is a 3D barcode pattern. Only authentic items have this.

Notice the design code as shown above (V14702), it tallies with the design code printed on the barcode sticker on the price tag:

Finally your jacket has the complete range of washing tags, liverpool hologram tag and other tags inside the jacket:

Hope this convinces you that the jacket is 100% authentic.

Thanks for your comments schmeichel7! biggrin.gif

I was unsure whether it was authentic or not as some parts of the jacket looks authentic while other parts looked like it could be fake.

I did examine the tags initially and it looked alright as like you said, the design code on the security tag matches the one on the price tag. Additionally, the PO# on the bottom right of the price tag matches the number on the security tag. Also, the 10/10 correctly indicates the time period that this jacket was manufactured.

However, I was unsure whether all these tag details could also be imitated by fakes. Also the general quality of the jacket doesn't seem as good as Adidas jacket that I have, so I just wanted to ask to make sure.
