It is also speculated that the Note 3 uses the S800 M8974AB version, which is the highest binned version of the CPU with even higher GPU speeds. Updated as we know more.

The Samsung 3GB LPDDR3 mobile DRAM uses six of the industry's smallest 20-nanometer (nm) class* four gigabit (Gb) LPDDR3 chips, in a symmetrical structure of two sets of three chips stacked in a single package only 0.8 millimeters high. With a full line-up of package dimensions, Samsung's new ultra-slim memory solutions will enable thinner smartphone designs and allow for additional battery space, while offering a data transfer speed of up to 2,133 megabits per second (Mbps) per pin.

Why USB 3.0 - All phones to date have the USB 2.0 interface. This is rated at a max of 480Mbps. USB 3.0 is rated for 4.8Gbps, a 10 fold increase in theoretical maximum transmission speed. Your Gb's of will transfer much faster via USB 3.0 to your external storage device or PC. Of course you need a USB 3.0 port or compliant peripheral as well.
Before the RDF kicks in, I'm given to understand that the Lightning connectors on idevices are still USB 2.0. > link <
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 sports USB 3.0 connector for faster transfers and charging - Xeactorz .....Oh, and if you’re worried about losing that micro B USB 3.0 cable and having no way to charge or manage files on your device, don’t be. Similar to those backward-compatible USB 3.0 flash drives, the Note 3 will allow you to connect a standard microUSB cable as well, so Samsung has every base covered.

Galaxy Note 3 Will Debut New Radio Power Management System, Uses 20% Less Power And 30% Less Heat Than Existing Tech ......Qualcomm achieves these enhancements in the QFE1100 by using a technology called Envelope Tracking. Essentially, the hardware tracks changes in the radio frequency and adjusts the power amplifier accordingly. Unlike traditional methods which perpetually run at full power, or those that only adjust the level when the radio is barely active, this technology can limit power usage only to what is necessary at the moment of transmission. This not only reduces the amount of energy consumed for communication, but also significantly reduces leftover power that is needlessly converted into excess heat. Qualcomm claims this can reduce radio power consumption by up to 20% and heat production by up to 30%, all while improving the speed and reliability of the cellular signal.

This is an interesting high-level overview of Samsung's security, including Knox. I find the "authorized OSs" part interesting. Notice the s on the end of OSs. The Knox marketing manual states that it is possible to change the device keys securely, but makes no reference to how it is done. Any ideas?

GSMArena Hands on with Multi-Vision --- expand your screen ACROSS several Note 3s !!!!! - Andrewtst
=============================
For the Note series, the main differentiator is the S-Pen using a Wacom active digitizer, and Samsung's nicely packaged software to take advantage of it across the OS. I personally like the workflow enhancement you get when your device can actually replace the paper notebook, so I am very keen for active digitizer devices, of which currently only the Note series has it in the smartphone/phablet form factor. Larger devices with active digitizers (Wacom or N-Trig) tend to be very expensive (RM5k++) tablets/convertibles from notebook manufacturers.
First off, I want to put things in perspective. I must state that we can no longer think of our devices as "phones" but COMPUTERS. Therefore, since computers have been around for the last 60 years or so, there is nothing "new" or "innovative" to expect from our devices, except for "faster, better, cheaper". Maybe not cheaper but we have seen ASP (Average Selling Price) falling across the board.
And because it is a computer, you have to treat it as such, ie regular backups, some periodic cleansing/factory reset and practice safe computing habits.
Note that of course it is not to be compared with the CISC type computers of the Intel x86 desktop/notebook genre, but it is still a computer nonetheless of the RISC variety, specifically the ARM family, with a huge number of variations across manufacturers. The focus of ARM is for performance per watt, which allows low power computing on the go which has been the dream of computing since its dawn.
Anything else, feel free to contribute.
Information will be added as it becomes available.

Hi guys,
I just came back from the hands-on session of the Note 3. Here are the answers to the questions that some of you guys wanted me to ask Samsung.
(Q)Does the Note 3 use Gorilla Glass for its display? If yes, which generation?|
(A)Gorilla Glass 3
(Q)Are there any advancements in the S Pen technology used in the Note 3? Is it still using Wacom tech like the Note 2?
(A)The new S Pen reinvents and modernizes the classic note-taking experience by providing the ability to accomplish everyday tasks with just one click. The advanced S Pen is designed to fully function as a communication driver between the phone and the user by creating essential input and control features. A simple click of the S Pen button while hovering over the screen introduces users to Air Command, a palette of five powerful features that truly make daily tasks easier and faster. With the Air Command feature, there is no need to toggle between screens, memorize commands or look up different menus.
For these enhancements, the GALAXY Note 3 uses the Wacom technology and is capable of 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity for a better user experience. The S Pen also features a changeable pen tip that is softer, which makes for a better handwriting experience. The S Pen on the GALAXY Note 3 can be detected from up to 1.7mm from the screen, an improvement from the GALAXY Note II.
(Q)Is the Note 3 using a PenTile RGBG matrix?
(A)The GALAXY Note 3 uses the Pentile RGBG matrix.
(Q) How did Samsung manage to make the Note 3 lighter than the Note 2 despite the slight increase in display size and physical size?
(A)The 5.7-inch screen Full HD Super AMOLED screen of the GALAXY Note 3 is larger than the previous GALAXY Note 2 device but because of the thin bezel, the overall size of the device stayed almost the same. The new Gorilla Glass on the GALAXY Note 3 helps to reduce its overall thickness and weight. In addition, we also optimised the mechanical design and HW circuit placement which contributes to the slimmer and lighter design of the GALAXY Note 3.
(Q)Will there wireless charging kits available for the Note 3?
(A)There will be a Wireless Charger Cover for the GALAXY Note 3.
(Q) Can the Note 3 play 1080p 10bit video with flac?
(A) 10bit video playback is not supported on the GALAXY Note 3.
(Q)Does Samsung Mobile Singapore have the 7 days exchange policy for the Note 3 (1 to 1 brand new within 7 days at same place of purchase)?
(A)This exchange policy is not available for the GALAXY Note 3.
(Q) Is the USB cable bundled 3.0?
(A) The USB is bundled 3.0.
(Q) Is there bundled S-Window case? Will it be available at launch?
(A) We have the at launch the S View cover for the GALAXY Note 3.
(Q) Though its stated to support microSD up to 64GB, is there a chance it can support 128GB memory cards?
(A) It can only support up to 64GB.
(Q) Is the LED notification light on the Note 3 multi-color like the S4 and Note 2?
(A)Yes, the LED notification light comes in different colours on the GALAXY Note 3. __________________ Thanks and regards, Sidney

Unboxing and Hands On by PhoneArena (with narration) - 2013-09-17 - mudkipryan94

TechRadar - Hands on: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 review - 2013-09-05 - mudkipryan94 A short review, but I would like to highlight one of the comments. I am not being a Samsung fanboi but surely a review should be as objective as possible, and personal bias should be stated up front.
QUOTE
nellymosserFri 11:38 This is a fairly ridiculous review - and in fairness, not very helpful. The article seems peppered with your own personal tastes. We're not reading this to see if it suits you, we're reading it to see if it suits us. It is for us to decide on the leather look. And your comment, "Most people will never use multi-window, as nine times out of 10 you'll find you're using it for the sake of it." Actually, is for us to decide if we like the multi-window option or not to - Pinterest/Facebook/Twitter users, people who actually do like to look at links on the web but not lose their threads - already find it useful in Notes 1 & 2.
Instead of your own personal tastes, how about telling us what we need to know? What about battery life? That battery sounds massive. Is it? How about telling us about sound quality? Connectivity? Any changes to the home page? How it feels to hold? Can you drop it? Does it have gorrilla glass? What is the point/function of the octo core - how good is the super HD filming?
Different people want different things from a smartphone - that's why there are so many. How about you try to think about your spectrum of readers - your customers - when you write. At least that something that Samsung is trying to do here.
Android Authority - Galaxy Note 3 vs LG G2 vs Xperia Z1 vs Xperia Z Ultra – Spec battle .....These smartphones are all top of the range devices, and the bar has been set extremely high. There are very few perceivable differences between the four of them and personal preference might be the biggest factor that makes you prefer one over the other. What we do know is that with such great options from a wide variety of manufacturers, the competition will compel OEMs to make even better devices which is a win for you, the consumer.
It’s a battle royale, and these are the most latest and most advanced smartphones in the world.
IFA 2013: Samsung overview ...The S-Pen is what actually makes the Note lineup so special, and Samsung has surely provided the Note 3 with even more S-Pen compatible apps, handwriting-recognition features and drawing tools.
There is also one more thing different about the new Note - it arguably looks better than ever (if though not everybody here at the office agrees). Samsung has its entire back to look like leather and the Note 3 looks just amazing....
CNET - Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 has new leather-and-stitching look and more multitasking (hands-on) .....As phones get bigger and tablets get more ubiquitous, it's good to see a device do something different that actually justifies the increased size. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3's multitasking features are particularly well-thought-out -- but whether you think it looks good in leather is up to you.

13MP Rear-Facing Camera: Gracing the rear of the GALAXY Note 3 is a 13 megapixel wide-angle camera with Samsung Smart Stabilization, their take on Optical Image Stabilization. OIS uses hardware corrections to negate camera shake and provide sharp images.
Ultra HD (4K) Video Recording: 2013 is the year of the Ultra HDTVs and with them come a host of video recording capable cameras and smartphones to provide content. This means that video can be recorded on the GALAXY Note 3 and played back on an Ultra HDTV at 2160p. To put this in to perspective Ultra HD has a resolution of 3840 × 2160 (8.3 megapixels) which is 4 times the pixels of Full HD at 1920 × 1080 (2.1 megapixels).
2MP Front-Facing Camera: A discreet front-facing 2 megapixel camera will provide 1080p video during video chat. The greater the resolution, the better the video chat or call experience for your partner. But don't forget the dual-view option that allows you to also capture video using the rear-facing camera.
Full HD Display The GALAXY Note 3 has a new 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display. The screen is bigger and brighter than that of the GALAXY Note 2 with a pixel density of 386 PPI. This means that you will not only have a crisper image but you won't have to squint at the screen under direct sunlight. The display is graced with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and should provide greater protection for the WACOM-enabled digitizer.
Hi-Fi Audio The GALAXY Note 3 now supports 24-bit/192kHz Hi-Fi audio. In basic terms, you are now getting playback at studio quality levels. Before any argues a lack of subtle or no difference between current offerings of 16-bit/44.1kHz, your ears may not distinguish between them but your eyes do. Crazy I know! But the human body is just one of those miracles of design we may never fully understand.
Adaptive Display and Sound Adaptive Display is a very simple. It changes the brightness or contrast of the screen depending on what you are viewing and the lighting conditions of your environment. This same technology will also adjust audio properties such as equalizer profiles based on the content you are experiencing. If you watch a YouTube video while cooking, the screen automatically switches to cinema and lowers the brightness while also switching from the default equalizer profile to one more suitable for movie playback.
Removable Battery and MicroSD Card Samsung stays the course despite the current trend by most tech companies to switch to a unibody design. This keeps the battery captive and forces you to send your smartphone in for a costly battery replacement. It also limits your smartphone memory to whatever it shipped with. The GALAXY Note 3 has a removable 3200 mAh battery and allows for a swappable MicroSD card up to 64GB. I for one always have a backup battery and alternate MicroSD to match either a work or play profile.
802.11ac WiFi This WiFi standard is essentially an updated version of 802.11n or Wireless-N. 802.11ac currently has speeds of 1.7 GHz, limited by current hardware, but can reach a real-world maximum of 2.5 GHz. This means that the GALAXY Note 3 can work and play faster than most devices on the market provided you have a matching Wireless-AC router.
New Multitasking Options The GALAXY Note 3 now lets users do more with an enhanced Multi Window option. Owners can now launch the same app twice. Multi-Window also allows users drag and drop content, so it's easy to share from one window to another through quick command icons.
S Pen 3.0 The new S Pen reinvents and modernizes the classic note-taking experience by enabling everyday tasks with just one tap and click. The advanced stylus is designed as a communication driver between the owner and their GALAXY Note 3. By creating essential input and control features, the S Pen plays an integral role in how one interacts with the GALAXY Note.
Air Command This quick access S Pen action lets owners quickly open up; Action Memo, Scrapbook, Screen Write, S Finder, Pen Window. You can access this from anywhere on the GALAXY Note 3 screen by simply hovering the S Pen over the screen and pressing the button on the stylus.
S Finder This option allows a GALAXY Note 3 owner to search for memos, contacts, and notes. S Finder even recognizes handwriting and symbols. The GALAXY Note 3 can even sync with and search through Evernote.
Pen Window This option allows a GALAXY Note 3 owner to draw a square anywhere on the app being viewed in order to pull up and fill the drawing with a number of commonly used apps, such as Calculator.
Anti-Theft Features Locate My Mobile displays the current location of the lost mobile on a map and tracks movement history during the last 12 hours. Lock My Mobile can remotely lock your mobile so that no one else can use the device. And finally, Ring My Mobile rings a bell for 1 minute at the highest volume regardless of the current sound settings.
WatchOn Smart Remote For those of you who had a chance to program and use WatchOn, you know that the GALAXY S4 effectively becomes a smart remote control rivaling the pricey remotes sold by TV accessory manufacturers. Now this feature is unleashed on the GALAXY Note 3 with its greatly improved screen promising to make the GALAXY Note 3 a powerful Smart Remote.
Air Gestures This feature allows owners to control the GALAXY Note 3 by using gestures done over the upper part of the smartphone without ever making contact with the screen. Quick Glance lets you view basic notifications while the screen is off. Air Jump lets you scroll up or down in emails and webpages. Air Browse lets you browse images, webpages, songs, or memos. Air Call-Accept lets you accept calls by swiping over the sensor.
Samsung KNOX For those of us who are security-minded and want to ensure that a stolen smartphone doesn't become a liability, it is welcome news that Samsung has brought a global-ready version of KNOX to the GALAXY Note 3. SamsungKNOX essentially separates your smartphone in to two parts; personal and business. Neither side can interact with the other. Samsung KNOX provides Platform Security, Application Security, Mobile Device Management and Samsung KNOX for Enterprise.
Smart Pause While some may call this feature gimmicky, those who have used Smart Pause on the GALAXY S4 know that this a great feature. Just like Samsung's smartphone flagship, the GALAXY Note 3 can pause video playback when you look away from the screen. Samsung has worked closely with content providers to ensure that features that were once limited to in-house apps can now control 3rd party apps.
S Voice With Hands Free S Voice has been upgraded and a feature called S Drive has been added. S Drive is useful for those who must have constant access to their smartphone, even while driving. This feature does exist on the GALAXY Note 2 as Driving Mode which causes S Voice to read your texts, report who is calling, allows you to control your music player or open common applications by voice command. This option enables safer driving and, in some states, may save you from being ticketed by the police.
GALAXY Gear Although the GALAXY Gear is not a feature, I believe it will quickly become a must-have accessory. This is basically a tethered Smart Watch that uses S Relay to seamlessly transfer content and alerts from the GALAXY Note 3 to the GALAXY Gear and vice-versa. Beyond sharing content, the GALAXY Gear also controls the GALAXY Note 3 allowing you to send messages, make phone calls, request directions and a slew of other actions. iPhone lag but different way of lag. You have confident in control the UI in iPhone. You know when you swipe left, it'll go there. But for Android, its different. You're not under control anymore. You feel helpless when Android lag.
But seriously, I'm ok with Android lag. I've been using 1GB RAM device with single core and I just need to suit myself to their lag.
Congratulations in the new thread.

iPhone also can be terrible. I had seen a terrible one.
Sometimes a phone run smooth or not depends on the user as well.
How the user organize is important rules.
Even though terrible, you feel you're in control. You just press home button and voila, you're back to home.
In Android, you're stuck.
Anyway, I think we all agreed that iOS is lagfree because its OS give 100% priority to touch. So there's nothing to discuss about with the way Android OS is written.
i think new high end android have no lag issue anymore??
Will have. Its part of the Android OS design.
QUOTE(destEX @ Sep 10 2013, 03:15 PM)
From my knowledge, their lag is related to the loading time, while our lag is bcoz we have instantaneous response and the lag will be obvious dude, it sarcasm .
Anyways hope NOTE 3 is satisfactory all round.
The lag we're talking now is instantaneous response. That's our Android problem now.

yea from ur previous 2 post i understand already. most custom roms nowadays have this feature "long hold back to kill app" its priority is higher than home button and will kill the rogue app's process but not as good as ios la i gotta admit.
Android uses java Dalvik Virtual Machine and xml which is flexible while ios uses point C which is strict is multitasking, can't rly compare the two directly tho. both got pros and cons

What nonsense. I've used GNex, GN2 and now GM. My home button takes me home. Always.
But iOS always take me home confidently. But not only home button. Also other stuff like touch response.
It should power save when not using mah. If I using, why it want to throttle leh?
that's call optimization
i think shipped ROMs have pretty good power save including those custom ROMs which are TW based. AOSP? not so much. 4.3 better than 4.2.2 but still... not as good antt00 going to hentam me

a car should save fuel when its parked or when its being driven?

a factually correct statement/question does not mean that it answer my question perfectly fine. But I give you credit for it.
Yup. You are right. The spammer said iOS, means related to all.
Even iPhone 4 also can get lag.

this is my own opinion 5 reasons why iOS users jump to android
1.UI and OS everytime apple say 'ubah' the things and it released there is empty treatz for user... design bored.....
2.Limited apps The Apps stores that i say, Horrible (yeah, sites say 500k++ free apps and some of them paid w high price tag..) and when they Cydia-lised, update will blocked anyway... and gotta to reformat it...
3.Source code nuff say, there nvr released the source code and source kernels to develops the phone
4.Screen Reso. okay, say about retina on phone, i can say, is useless cause how clear the screen w small resolution and definitely are trash +sometimes it'll make u annoyed w lacks of customization
5.Camera indoor okay, when u meet it at outdoor, is totally horrible and it doesn't offer image stabilizer

Eh my comment on 4.3 vs 4.2.2 only applicable for note 2 aosp rom. But seriously there is not much of a difference between the 2.

....... Of course, with a 1080p resolution on a 5.7-inch display, users won’t be able to discern individual pixels, so the display on the Galaxy Note 3 isn’t going to disappoint and will offer the customary vivid colors and deep blacks. But for those that look at every thing pedantically, well, it looks like they’ll need to wait for the next Samsung flagship to see their dreams of a standard RGB Super AMOLED display being used come true.
Update: As reader hot_spare pointed out in the comments, the folks over at ArsTechnica say the screen is non-PenTile, so it looks like we’re going to need that official word from Samsung before knowing what arrangement the screen actually uses.

I don't think Samsung is so nice to give us non-Pentile screen like Note 2.

Don't care it is what tile... as long it screen better is great!
For me, S4 look nicer than Note II.

For me, S4 look nicer than Note II.
Its because S4 is higher resolution, smaller screen and improved pentile (diamond shape).
iOS? cut the crap... n i have owned 2 iPhone 3Gs(best phone ever that i owned) till iPhone 4 ( stupidity antenna design, OS lagging and nagging and especially things is when u Jailbreaked your ishit, the phone is horrible lagg till u can trash it) before it until 2011 mid-year, i swtch to Android and present now.... +

this is my own opinion 5 reasons why iOS users jump to android
5.Camera indoor okay, when u meet it at outdoor, is totally horrible and it doesn't offer image stabilizer
i opposite you, after 2 years i used android, i jump to iphone and never look back,

1. UI and OS iOS best to use out from the box from the moment i brought it, no need config this config that, not all the people in the world knows flash this rom flash that rom for stability speed etc... i did that alot previous till the point i tired with that and not actually enjoy using the phone...
2. apps anyway people can afford rm2000 phone but cannot afford paid apps, its up to them. If developers work so hard for apps and people just JB to take for granted, who want continue to develop apps. Actually we pay for what we get, either in money, time, or via ads... nothing is free in this world...
3. source code i normal user i no need this
4. screen big size is definitely good for browsing, email, video etc.... but it is up to personal, i dont like oversize phone (>6"), i hope in future there will be more phone is around size minimum 4" (iphone 5) - maximum 5"(galaxy S4). actually i think best size is around 4.5" (to hold well with one hand and stay good in pocket)
resolution is not important as long as the image is clear, good image reproduction, in cell display, ips etc... best display is actually the image is more look like good quality poster/photo...
5. camera definitely i can say even iphone 5 cannot satisfy me, i take a lot photos with my phone, see tmr what new generation iphones offers, i hope for 13 mp, auto image stabilize, f/1.8 or better, better low light etc...

We will play this game politely and civilly.
iOS has repeatedly said their "highly curated user experience" ie "I will lead you by the nose and you cannot stray out of the path" is the best that everybody wants. So there is obviously a percentage of people who like it.
Android says "here go and do whatever you want". Which means you can. If you don't want to it's fine too.
Having said that, the customize-this-customize-that thing CAN cause some things to break, resulting in lags or FC. I did some ROM flashing but ultimately settled on rooted stock with Xposed Framework for some small tweaks. Going strong so far.
My wife's S3 has been on stock since day 1 and never rooted. With some judicious app management, there is no lag discernible on the S3 either.
Only those who have an itch in a certain part of the anatomy for installing apps will run a high risk of FC, lags or sudden unknown charges on their bills. This can happen regardless of iOS or Android.

Anyway there's also another article about Exynos being able to fire 8 cores in *the coming months*.
So probably Exynos Octa 6440 can fire all 8 cores, and they may need a 5000mAh battery to keep it powered.
lol, anyway thanks
for upcoming exynos processor, fire all 8 cores (4 cortex a15 and 4 cortex a7) ??

Update: As reader hot_spare pointed out in the comments, the folks over at ArsTechnica say the screen is non-PenTile, so it looks like we’re going to need that official word from Samsung before knowing what arrangement the screen actually uses.
Don't care it is what tile... as long it screen better is great!
For me, S4 look nicer than Note II.
yup that right won't bother the screen use RGB, pentile, etc .... at all

I think innovation will go into stagnation is 5 year time. It'll become commoditized like PC. Like it or not, what else you can put in to the phone? Hahahaha

Not everyone wear watch. But everyone needs a phone. I don't think watch will achieve such such success as smartphone.
who knows, things may change, it may become a trend in the future, nobody could predict. samseng placed their bet on smart watch, google placed their bet on glass

but i tell ya, if i ever own a watch, smartwatch will be my first.

By the time warranty expire no need root d, u are looking at Note 4.
I guessing, if XZU change this considered upgrade or downgrade?
Screen 6.44 > 5.7 Ram 2gb > 3gb
Sorry but y are consumers these days like u exist ? Upgrade ? Downgrade ? It's a phone which u buy to suit your needs . Who cares if ppl around u laugh at u and say " Wah , no money sell phone and buy cheaper 1 ah ? " , its your choice and needs , not theirs . I sold my HTC One to get a Mega due to the screen size . Does it mean I'm downgrading ? Cuz it's cheaper and lower spec ? Sadly , my most expensive phone dont even have a camera , comes in stainless steel and cant even do anything but make calls + sms/mms . Buying any phones by Samsung , Apple , HTC is considering a big downgrade then

Hopefully they maintain or lower the price.. Considering how cheap a smartphone can be sell looking at the China market, making rm2k price point nowadays seems way too expensive..

no worth talking about apple. 3.5" was best they say, then 4" they say is not just bigger, is just right. they have downplayed their original cult. it is quite funny when iphone 5 was launch i was expecting the 3.5" sect and the 4" sect fighting a war against each other... but it did not materialize.

so can u imagine how disappointed i was.
those claiming 3.5" is the best is actually in denial, becoz they have faith in their apple religion that what apple said is the best, but deep down when they see samseng and other manufacs coming out with bigger screen, obviously they fckin jelly, but to keep faith in their religion and to save their face(air muka) ego pride after they brag and brag 24/7 about their godlike phone, they can't just say sry my phone too small d, not good right? everyone need to save their face ma, so when apple comes up with 4" they happy so no fight happen.
Really hope the 5S has a PowerVR Rogue in it...this will make app devs to create games with even better textures, and hopefully those games will also be available on android. 5.7 Full HD SuperAMOLED ....salivating already...
=========== Now 64-bitness is game changing, although it will take maybe 1 year for the benefits to filter through. There is time for ARM to ramp up the A5x or maybe A6x.
64 bits in a mobile device is excellent I must say. If a bare metal hypervisor can be written, then Ubuntu Edge will actually be your own server in the pocket. In fact, this will bring ARM a few steps closer to the data center into the heart of Intel's kingdom.
64 bits will allow direct addressability of 128TERABYTES of RAM if my memory serves me correctly.
Therefore if next year's ARM goes 64bits. we should see a ramp up of 4Gb+ devices.
Observe that I tend to use the term "device" instead of "phone" because I reiterate that our devices are more than just phones.
....Apple should absolutely not keep a “fingerprint database”. If they need a fingerprint database for this, “they blew it”, as Steve Jobs used to say. After the latest NSA revelations, about how they’re hacking into everything and anything, and with so many other hackers out there waiting to grab a database with tens of millions or hundreds of millions of fingerprints, it’s impossible for Apple to guarantee the security of that fingerprint database. Losing that fingerprint database would be more than catastrophic for the users, which leads me to the second point.
The second problem with fingerprint security is that if someone manages to steal your fingerprint somehow, it’s not like you’ll be able to “change” that fingerprint – ..... ..... I do believe we need to find other alternatives to passwords, but if fingerprints are the alternative, at the very least they should only be kept on the device, locally (and even that can be hacked). Personally, I like the idea of an NFC ring that can be used to unlock everything that’s in your hand or very close to your hand (and it’s yours), and that might be a better solution for the future.......
Perhaps this is the 1st time since iphone4 I will skip buying. So shopping list will be either sony htc or samsung. Yay! Still hoping they make a breakthrough of battery life coz mba is doing well. Oh... next year then
....The camera also comes with new image stabilization, albeit digital one
==========
I suppose digital IS will make good use of the spare CPU power.
That is the digital stabilization, same as what the Note 3 has. Else I strongly believe Apple will market it strongly by comparing their picture with "s brand competitor" picture side by side

Off topic. Yet you will still see buyers queue up to buy it. It is after all an Apple! I have used all the iPhone series till ip5 n yet none of them ever impresses me. All this talk of smoothness is just an illusion as Apple knows once they allow widgets n 3rd party launcher interference they will lose their edge. I was so crazy that I paid rm1000 extra premium for the very first iphone.
5s pricing is probably high to recover the r&d costs for the 64 bit cpu but if you look at how intel prices their stuff, new architecture fits in at the same price points of the old architecture while they quickly deprecate the old one.
Maybe they think the faithful will open their mouths wider to swallow a longer register....

You talk about 64bit only for addressing yesterday.
64 bit architecture is not only for memory address.
iOS7 native code incorporate new 64 bit instruction set. Means, 1 instruction in 64 bit can do 2 things when using 32bit instruction. It will be faster I think. decoding will be faster because 1 clock cycle can decode 2 things. But executing might be same.

Err...yes, I do know about the register length etc. Just that RAM addressing is the most visible manifestation, at least where Intel is concerned. I have read that ARM has the extended addressing mode that allows 48bit addressing on current 32bit CPUs, but if we get native 64 bits, then I suppose it makes sense that addressing is also fully 64bits.
The fetch and decode will depend on pipelining etc etc and whole volumes are available on the subject.
However I still think that this is the dawn of 64 bit development for mobile, since the mindset of mobile and low power consumption devices has always been "cram more into as little space (RAM/registers/storage) as possible".
And you have the Arduino etc movement which is doing exactly the same thing of cramming more into a limited computing power device.
Now if 64 bit low power computing is widely available, your fridge can now talk to you and perhaps tell your microwave to preheat stuff before your dinner......imagine Google Now on EVERYTHING.......
It's confirm that Samsung Malaysia only bring in the LTE Note3 for Malaysia market. Joy for Celcom and Maxis user that have LTE coverage at their area.
Digi also already open pre-order for Note3, and guess what, it also LTE version. Maybe Digi will release LTE in their network in short time?

Yes, definitely it'll drop further. Note 1 drop until RM13xx before finally disappear from the market.
Oh, perhaps I should wait till after the Note 3 launch in MY, then only buy the Note 2 for my wife...
And in the mean time, I will grab the Note3 myself, is just have most of what I want, bigger screen, more ram, bigger internal storage, higher camera mp...
Gosh, my pocket is going to burn a big hole this time...
Btw, any idea whats the market price for the Note 2 Red color?

You can't get Note 2 Red. Its quite limited in production.
based on the estimated price... cheap is not that cheap... :S
I believe the price still the same like Note2 first release in malaysia. RRP2299. maybe seller selling rm2250 best price. after one or two month, AP set come in. AP set should be rm18++ and the Ori set decrease can reach near rm20++.

ah, sorry... i was referring to the product that got announced earlier this morning. i know this is note 3 thread... sorry... sorry...
now note1 is just leftover stock. Samsung not making it. Thus no real retail price.
DirectD or SatuGadget doesn't suka suka put the price just because it's a leftover. And the stock seems still avaiable. Only S2 non-G have no more stock here
Yes, of course is good news, I prefer Qualcomm more than Exynos. Just can't wait local Malaysia launching and get one demo unit try to use. 25 September just 2 more weeks ahead!

that 8 cores combine the slow/fast quad together... so not really gain much not mentioning the power consumption when processing using 8 cores firing up... the S8 power saving method seem valid so qualcomm would be better choice...

well, background service can use slow core while apps can use fast core.
If S800, 2 fast core use for background. Only 2 core used for apps.
I think Exynos will beat S800 by huge margin in multiprocessing.

u are wrong... mostly all multiprocessing thread will be treat as single workload and firing up cores accordingly and dont think the android os will choose background process using slow cores and foreground program using fast cores... then the exynos cores switching seem facing difficulties currently and that's why they make all 8 cores mixable during load, mean they simply give up the selective cores switching altogether and sacrifice the power consumption...

eh, sorry. I didn't know you wrote MP processing task for Android OS.
So they'll just time slice it and send to all cores without caring if its slow or fast cores (when 8 core enable)?
what i only know more core mean more power usage... quad already plenty and now octa that's crazy... they're shot at the own foot when the banner stated big.LITTLE while now they're approaching full 8 cores mixing...

Wow, I guess it right that S4 Exynos will be more responsive now. No need to switch thread. just continue using the same thread/core until finish before shutdown.
WTF, Digi already have LTE... upgrade start since Dec 2011... How good Digi LTE services doesn't know? coz currently using Digi for my Note 2, bigger town seem acceptable speed...
If those A15 cores not power hungry why the heck they make extra 4 little cores? then if those little cores soo efficient why the heck they just use 8 little cores?

s4 exynos price will go up soon.
S4 exynos has a borked core cluster controller. It can't perform granular switching.

sorry, I search borked core cluster controller and found nothing.
Does the scenario I describe can be considered as granular switching? I thought I say that a program no need to switch core half way if all 8 cores are activated. So less switching.
Less switching = good = more responsive
S4 Exynos will become faster than Snapdragon version.

Search term is cci or cci400 it came out about 2 months ago I think. Exynos 5410 cci.
A couple of articles on sammobile. I posted also in v24 or v25 of note 2 thread.

Ok found the implementation:-
QUOTE
The next logical step would be a quad-core version, which we sort of got with the Exynos 5410 - or as it's more commonly known: Exynos 5 Octa. This part features four ARM Cortex A15 cores running at up to 1.6GHz and four ARM Cortex A7 cores running at up to 1.2GHz in a configuration ARM calls big.LITTLE. The specific implementation of big.LITTLE on Exynos 5410 is known as Cluster Migration; either the four Cortex A15 cores or four Cortex A7 cores can be active, but not both and not an arbitrary combination of cores from each island. They're either all on or all off. This is by far the easiest to implement from a software perspective, but is obviously the less interesting option from a heterogeneous SMP perspective. I'll be talking more about this in an upcoming ARM piece.
On the graphics front, Samsung moved to Imagination Technologies for the Exynos 5410 - implementing a PowerVR SGX 544MP3 setup. The Exynos 5410 saw limited use, appearing in some international versions of the Galaxy S 4 and nothing else. Part of the problem with the design was a broken implementation of the CCI-400 coherent bus interface that connect the two CPU islands to the rest of the SoC. In the case of the 5410, the bus was functional but coherency was broken and manually disabled on the Galaxy S 4. The implications are serious from a power consumption (and performance) standpoint. With all caches being flushed out to main memory upon a switch between CPU islands. Neither ARM nor Samsung LSI will talk about the bug publicly, and Samsung didn't fess up to the problem at first either - leaving end users to discover it on their own.
And its a bug.
Samsung S4 Exynos = 5410 - got bug
Note 3 Exynos = 5420 - fix bug. Can turn on all cores.
Now I know why S4 Exynos so cheap. Its chipset got bug one ler.

Here are 2 links. It seems to have gotten hushed up after a few articles.
So now the price is confirmed at 2199. I wonder how many are future buyer. Are you/.
nope. N2 still serve well and i have yet to fully utilize it. and no point keep changing the phone as it is still serve as a phone for me. N2 will last me till it went haywire itself or get stolen
i'll only get a new smartphone if it can provide me a battery life of 3 days without charging (not standby mode).
Off topic. The new iphone range has amazingly unbelievable great prices : New iphone prices now released in Singapore. iPhone5C ( C by the way does not mean it is CHEAP) : S$848 , RM 2188 (16GB) and $988 , RM 2549 (32GB). The higher range iphone 5S prices are S$988 , RM 2549 (16GB), S$1,148 , RM 2961 (32GB) & S$1,288, RM 3323 (64GB). EXpect Malaysian prices to be 10% lower than these but is still darn expensive !!
Agree... 5C is by no mean cheaper.. That $848 has just shocked me, OMG
Digi have LTE... but is it commercially available to user now? not that i know of...
and your Note2 is LTE version??? AFAIK, Note2 malaysia version do not have LTE. unless u bought it from other country.
Only Data plan (Tablet & Broadband) are available commercially... Digi didn't offer LTE Voice Call + SMS + MMS + Data yet & make me angry coz as I know call, doesn't need LTE...
DiGi i give up already la, been using it since i got a phone, but its been getting worst thruout the years. now wanna see what plans maxsh|t gonna offer then decide wanna buy direct or telco
maybe i'm slow on this but just saw on digi website offer LTE device hoping to see on maxis or other seller selling them since i don wanna tie to the contract
last time ppl go for non LTE because of it buggy battery drain... now it seem the n3 have special chip to cover that hole... still only when released and users feedback would be the most accurate result...

5420 - Note 3 fix that bug inside 5410 (used in S4). Its hardware bug. LOL
yeap, coz when u buy the Exynos variant, no source codes.. ; Qualcomm S800 variant, flooded w flasholics yeah...
if convert to RM, and add duty tax+ Sirim Test= 1899 + 50 for colors
taiko , 1SGD = RM2.6 oledi .... How u get 1899 . As said earlier , don't give wrong info . If u dunno , no harm keeping quiet and that's excluding sirim which u can actually skip if u r lucky using EMS instead of courier service

It's not say skip but by using EMS like our Postlaju to send overseas , most of the time , custom wouldnt bother much but doesn't 100% can skip . I always order phones from China or Japan or even Taiwan directly , kena once only this yr out of maybe 10+ transactions
maybe jusst like an survery to know how many ppl interested for it so they can prepare early?
gogo2 this is the kind of answer i'm expecting. like i said, i want to know what is the purpose of an ROI zzz. EDIT: by the way, thanks for your answer snigapoe.

Once one assignment is over, we get another assignment. Depends if the next one is taxing or not.
but usually even with your work you managed to handle being a TS here as well, so i'm kinda curious why the sudden passing-TS-role-to-someone-else lol.

may i know does fingerprint scanner really that good, really that effective? just need some explanation to butthurt fruity fans
can't butthurt, even i also wish samseng put inside n3 but no they dowan u see youtube video of the usage, quite effective. bad thing is that the button still needs to be pushed to exit apps and so on, so apple home button spoil very easily, prepare 300~400 to fix that button la.

well they will said walcome to the ipong restrict you from doing whatever you want
Yea just watched it off Adam Outler's G+ post a short while ago. Great idea actually. Fully modular backplane. This time round the tech is there with all the SATA and PCIe standards, even USB 3.1.

30k to 35k from user report. Me wise bench get around 33k max.
.......According to Meizu, HMP can be implemented through a software upgrade, and will be made available to the MX3, its current flagship that uses the same Exynos chip as the Galaxy S4. This means that we should see Samsung doing the same for its own devices, and it could be the reason why the Korean manufacturer is only showing off the new eight-core capability without naming a new Exynos chipset.

Still, hats off to them for bringing it first, but I agree that in the short term, there is NO DIFFERENCE. It will take at least 1 year for the rest of the ecosystem to catch up.
Good though to have competition for ARM and Intel.
......Instead, to ensure the high sales of the iPhone 5s, they made the cheaper iPhone 5c less likeable. Here, have a cheaper looking iPhone 5c instead. They are sending a message out there – you cannot have our current flagship design for less money. And this might as well turn into a trend for the company in the years to come.
The company chose to cripple last year’s model just so everyone goes for the most expensive, even if unspectacular flagship, instead of going the other way round, by making the new flagship so desirable that no one would actually consider the midranger.

black hole yo.
even ur quad core or dual core rarely more than 1 core, its like intel turboboost and will increase the clock speed and processor activated with load. custom kernels have abilities to off the extra cores too, or on it permanently
Err..you wanna sell your Nexus 7 or your Galaxy Nexus..?
Sorry, I mean sell my new unbox Nexus 7 2013... Hmm I think Galaxy Nexus doesn't worth selling it, bought 2.3k last time now drop till no value... So maybe will keep it as backup phone.... I think Note 3 will be enough as phone + tablet for me...

As I mentioned in v1, I am curious why does the back panel of the Note 3 have a groove and ridge similar to what the S4 Active has????
It does not have any rubber seals, but the molding is there for it and I believe it can be easily modded during production to fit seals.
Even if it's splash proof (like accidental drink spills), it will be a big bonus.

Samsung Center price Normally outside phone shop RM200 cheaper
This is even BETTER~~~
BTW, Note 3 will be available in Jakarta for RP 8,880,000.
So it will be around RM25XX...
I've asked few Samsung outlets, one say is 3G version and another say is the LTE version. Practical Indonesian worker attitude, never bother to know about the products spec...
Another good one. Americans never ceases to amaze me. Lol
I don't think this is a real life situation. Probably a makeup video as part of his program. Come on, they are not so dumb to even not know the difference between a iphone and a mini tablet. These are Americans and not knowing something about iphone is just like not knowing ABC !!
S4 drop is predictable, it is not as good sales as Samsung though, and S4 is not that awesome phone also. Hehe...
Sad Samsung really make the S series as 'lab test rat'. Users getting short change with expensive device with issues. In future smart consumers will avoid S series . I know i will. Cannot brain this.

anyway, i'm just joking around with the note3 variant la
