QUOTE(sniperz @ Sep 10 2013, 03:11 PM) I haven't realized about this. I thought my class was picked the moment I gone through character selection? Like Lancer etc. What is this I don't even.............. PS: Yay for version 11. I haven't played in awhile guys, thanks to the congestion on Masamune I thought I'd try again when it stabilises. What's the news regarding that right now? Much better or still have 1017 boss?

QUOTE(valho @ Sep 11 2013, 03:37 PM) Your main quests always follow the starting city of your first class, and no it's not really hard to level another class, a few quests from the class starting city + hunting log + FATE will easily get you up to speed. Thanks for all the other replies too. In short, YES it seems I might have to go back to Ul'dah to do my main quests but I don't need to be a THM? Just to clarify, my THM is lvl16 and my ACN is lvl23. The reason is SMN needs THM 15 and ACN30. So you can see where I am going with this. I tried to continue the 'main quest' that I had as a THM in Ul'dah with the guild but it needs me to get back to THM to continue. Does this mean I need to be lvl20 as a THM to get the mount? This isn't very clear at all. This post has been edited by CloudDave: Sep 11 2013, 03:45 PM

QUOTE(valho @ Sep 11 2013, 03:51 PM) Also you seem to be confused about class quest and story quest class quest = must be done on that particular class story quest/other quest = doesn't matter which class you use as long as it's sufficient level Thanks for clarifying this, so if I wanna continue on my STORY QUEST as an ACN, where would it be? In Lominsa I take it? And it should be from that guy at the bar? So confuses, my preciousssssssssssssss.

QUOTE(valho @ Sep 11 2013, 03:59 PM) If you continue your story quest as ACN you will need to go back to Ul'dah, because that's where your story quest started. In short your starting class in this case THM dictates where your story quest starts from, meaning Ul'dah, so what you need to do is go back to the last place you turn in your story quest or check your journal for the next step of your story quest and just continue from there as ACN. Story quest are mark with a flame thing around it. Thanks bro, that clears things a lot. Hope I get the mount before maintenance then.

Hmmm what are the personal opinions of the mages in the forum? I have seen a lot of people commenting that SMN is a rather bad class in the sense that it's not pure DPS nor is it healing or proper debuffing. In a sense, it's kind of a Jack-Of-All-Trades. I'm heading in this direction initially but now I'm wondering if I should go more for Black Mage especially for dungeons and group play. Thoughts guys?

QUOTE(Yue @ Sep 13 2013, 03:48 PM) great thing about playing an arcanist is that at level 50, you get easy access to both scholar and summoner. mildly a drawback when you can practically have both dps and healer as you class on practically one playthrough. And summoner somehow work like warlock in WoW, they suppose to emphasize on DoTs. SQE need to put a little utility skill for summoner or their summon which can be a raidwide buffs. I agree with this, there seems to be a bit of option. But to be honest I love the DPS of Black Mage but the gear looks like some S&M kinda deal which is a deal-breaker since for me aesthetics do play a role in the game. Also, they should definitely allow for more AOE spells for SMN or ACN. At the moment, it's a bit of a gimp since I can only damage one target at a time whereas earlier on, my THM can already have decent AOE spells.

QUOTE(athlonmax @ Sep 13 2013, 03:57 PM) I'm maintaining 2 jobs atm, SCH and SMN. For healing side, SCH is comparable is WHM is terms of healing,so no worries there. For SMN, the damage is decent(since dots are not count in the dps parser) it's hard to get an exact amount on how much dps we're doing. 1 more thing u gotta micro manage ur pet in each fight to get the max usage of the class(same as the SCH fairies).Your damage isn't bursty and all(we have Fester for burst) but most of our dps came from the dots.(we have shadow flare/Bane and miasma II for AoE) All and all once you comfortable on micro managing ur dots, pets it's fun to play and i'm starting to love SMN more even with it's downsides. That's just it, call me an idealogist but I grew up on console games and don't REALLY enjoy playing with a keyboard and mouse. I'm playing this on the PS3 controller and to be honest micro-managing can be a pain sometimes. Handling my own character would already be a bit tough but having to micro manage a pet as well would be overkill. Sure, you can ask me to change to keyboard and mouse but that would be besides the point. Does Black Mage suit me better then?

QUOTE(Yue @ Sep 13 2013, 04:00 PM) SMN would be OP if they were to get an AOE spell, like THM isnt bad enough for tank inside the instances. They are build fine its just their pet might need to be more significant toward the raid than just being a complimentary damage dealer/off-tank. Agreed with the pet thing, when I first heard of summoner I was like 'COOL, we get to see explosions and stuff ala FF7 style!!!' Turns out we're some kinda Pokemon handler except we only have like 4 Pokemons. They need to implement a kind of 'sacrifice pet for massive damage' kinda deal which also has a bit of a cooldown. Oh and add really cool effects for when they 'meltdown'. That would make the job REALLY good! Who's with me?

QUOTE(feverish @ Sep 27 2013, 11:14 PM) hey guy thank for the answer i pop up last time , would like to ask another technical issues , is like this now i already install and update all the thing in PC A , now i want to install in PC B , is there a why to migrate all the file in PC A to B ? Copy and paste all game files from your respective root folder. Should be under Square Enix. Simple as that really. Also a good idea to keep a backup with each iteration of update in case so you don't need to download the whole thing again.

QUOTE(devilspade @ Oct 11 2013, 03:05 PM) i use sleep to delay their attack. and keep using ice and fire. Also, if you have thunder cast that first. It is DoT damage and will work while you're busy casting fire and ice. In this order:- 1.) Thunder 2.) Fire => MP left 20% 3.) Transpose => Umbral Ice 4.) Ice => MP full 5.) Repeat 2.) till 4.) 6.) Keep an eye for Thunder and re-cast when necessary There ya go. You'll find this hardly changes even for high levels. Thunder is actually overlooked but it grants free and instant recasts, also the Scathe ability later on is invaluable to chip away really fast without cast time. I find that I mostly replace steps 2.) till 4.) for Scathe during hectic fights. When my MP goes down below 20% I just use Swiftcast and Ice spells, instant regen of MP. Anyone else have tips for THM or BLM? This post has been edited by CloudDave: Oct 11 2013, 03:40 PM

QUOTE(Jcsy @ Oct 12 2013, 11:56 AM) i read about cross class... im level 15 black mage... i'm apparently supposed to cross class to an archer... should i do it now, or much later in the game If you want to have the Black Mage JOB, then yes you need archer. However, I would suggest you level your THM till 30 first since having one character at level 30 will give a significant XP boost to all secondary classes being leveled. So there you go!

QUOTE(valho @ Nov 27 2013, 03:57 PM) Before the door, 1 range will run in first right as the door open, pull the boss to the purple line while the rest rush in, then tank just take over agro. If you sleep on the bridge the mob might wake up before the boss area get locked, before the door even if the mob wakes up there is still some distance for them to cover before reaching the boss area. Thanks, that cleared up my confusion cause there were a few tanks who blamed me for not sleeping on the bridge. Now I know that it's the tank who needs to know what's going on.
