As I know, no such thing has been happened like this so far.
Will the bank entertain..? We do not know la..
But if we do not try, then we do not know.

If this project fails, we have nothing to lose ma..

That's why we ask participating members to carry on their own FD plans,
but not to hold their monies to wait for this Group FD plan.

Gotten 3.45/12 months special rate offered by UOB, non condition normal FD.
They have another 3.55/12 months but have to have some lump sum kept within the account for 3 months so i stick to the rate they offered.

Now we have 16 members, total RM 800K

Plan (my brain storm only)
(1) Consolidate at least RM 1 million fund from all participating members.

(2) Appoint representative to negotiate with the bank.

(3) As suggested by Warrior HJebat, after bank says OK, then representative generates and PM confidential code (for bank to  recognize members' identities purpose) to each participating member so that members can place their FDs at special rate by submitting the code to the bank. Each member will get one unique code only.

(4) Members can place FDs in their local bank branches.

Any suggestions are very welcome..Thank You

It is hard to negotiate with the bank if less than 1 year tenure.

a great idea there, but I am just worried if this is considered as illegal deposit taking by the rep or the one who started this ? and then bnm take legal proceeds and freeze our fund ? any lawyer here can give any heads up ? unsure.gif

No illegal deposit taking as each individual will go to the Bank to perform your own FD with given a special "preferential FD rate"

I did not receive any letter. But when I was there in late January, they mentioned there was a change of the FD plan. But they said no need to change the FD cert (auto renew). So should be OK. biggrin.gif

This is a very good question.

In fact, participating members will place FD by themselves in one of their desired local bank
branches.

Each participating member will receive one unique code via PM from the representative, and
participating members will use this unique code to get a special FD rate from the local bank.

Our representative will submit all unique codes to the bank HQ to identify our participating
members.

All members' privacy will be 100% protected.
