I'm actually quite new with the LED stuffs.
What does Lumen mean? higher the better?
*
As what I understand, lumen is referring to the brightness or light intensity...the higher lumen it has, the brighter it is. For the same wattage, different colour temperatures has different lumen. (e.g. Yellow lights has lower lumen compared daylight).

Following is what I captured from wikipedia:-
The lumen (symbol: lm) is the SI derived unit of luminous flux, a measure of the total "amount" of visible light emitted by a source. Luminous flux differs from power (radiant flux) in that luminous flux measurements reflect the varying sensitivity of the human eye to different wavelengths of light, while radiant flux measurements indicate the total power of all electromagnetic waves emitted, independent of the eye's ability to perceive it. A lux is one lumen per square meter.

This security door is like a thick door together with a big and thicker frame and you dont have to install the grille anymore? is it something like that?
*
Although it's named as 'security door', but nothing is 100%, even the seller would tell you the same.
However, we are just adding more barrier features to make it harder for the intruders. Thus, our home security is basically a combination of various features.

Normally people do not install grill when they have the security door as it is already a metal which is harder to cut. Further more, it has more lock sets to secure the main lock and also the upper and bottom locks.

The door is moulded so that the lock set is hidden from outside of the door. As such, it is not expose where people couldn't reach the lock set with metal ruler or cutter.

hi maxxon, how is ur kitchen cabinet progress going on? i think i order from the same company as yours , quite worried now as i read some negative comment on the company, do update me on the quality of their work ,thks,

The kitchen cab is not in process yet as it is pending the floor tiles in kitchen to get the exact measurement. Me too very worry on their quality after reading some bad comments in the forum. No choice for me but to pray hard that they deliver good work as I've already paid a RM1k in the fair.... mellow.gif

I find the kitchen door looks a bit weird....
Further more, I told the vendor that I can't accept this door as the door's size is much smaller than the frame. Will see how they gonna rectify it.

The kitchen door looks fine to me though, just that the top window frame need to be the same width as door. So have you decided how to fill up your courtyard yet? Zen style garden with lotsa pebbles and stone carving?

There comes the installation of my 5'x7' security door. It is from Top Security which their doors are locally made in Klang. I chose this type of full panel doors over the one with a sub-panel because it is better break-in-ressistance compared the latter.

The vendor came to do some adjustment on the windows and doors in the afternoon but I was not around...shoud pop round later to check them out...
As for the kitchen door, it will still be looking weird if the upper frame is of same size with the door frame... I was scratching my head on this and lastly got some ideas. I shall get some custom made stickers for the upper frame, so it looks like those western cafe...

Yup, gonna lay lots of pebbles in the court yard and place a big potted plant on top... nod.gif

Updates on tiling works:-

Referring to my previous post, the tiler has been missing in action when they just about to start the tiling work. To avoid further delay, my main con got me another team and tiling job was resumed about 3 weeks ago.

This new team is a pair of very loving husband and wife in their fifties/sixties.
This aunty looks very cute. She likes to cover her head with the face towel..

This is their gadget with pre-loaded oldies that makes the atmosphere so retro and 'got feel'.... tongue.gif

The main con is requested to hack some upper part of the walls to make better leveling...

There are some cracked tiles (indonesian tiles) found when opened up the cartons. doh.gif

For the grout dividers, they use these little straps which were cut from those carton strapping tapes..

Bathroom in master bedroom. The raised floor is for the free standing bath tub.

user posted image

Another bathroom at the upper floor. As you can see, the feature wall is not in full panel as we have overlooked that the water outlet is very near the window. If we had noticed this problem earlier, we should have either switch the water outlet or place the feature wall on another panel of wall. Hmmm....since it is now too late for changes, we can only try hard to convince ourself that it doesn't look as bad....

Tiling work in the ground floor bathroom is in progress. The tiles were chosen to be slightly darker in this bathroom as contrast to the other two brighter ones, as we can have an option of a darker bathroom when we need a calm and relaxing shower...

Glad you had everything worked out. Progress looks good. Keep it coming. I'm still hesitating if I wanna use mosaic tiles for shower area in my new unit as this is a ideal place for mold due to humidity.

Mold is commonly found between tile's gap unless color of your grout is black. smile.gif

I love the refreshing mood created by the mosaic tiles... You are right about the challenge of preventing it from getting mold and mildew stain.
There are couple of preventions that we gotta take note:-
1) use the mold/mildew resistant grout
2) use grout sealer (might need to reapply after a year or two)
3) install ventilation fan to keep out humidity
4) keep the bathroom windows and doors open for ventilation
