Have you test the brightness of the emergency light? Look like retrofit from the conventional type. My emergency light need to change battery already 2years in operation. Thinking to change to led if not too expensive.

QUOTE(maxxon @ Nov 26 2013, 02:35 PM) Havent try it out yet but I think it should be bright enough for me to move around the staircase kua...as this is the type used in most commercial places. I bought the one in about 1.5' length. There is another smaller one look like a 6" square downlight and another longer version about double the length of mine. I never know that the emergency light has got to change its rechargable batt...the one in my parent's place is still running good after almost 15 years... As you can see from the pic below, there is a pin needs to be pulled out after installation. Anything on battery need to change, if not it won't last. New maybe 1hour, after few years maybe 10mins. Yes the pin need to remove if not your emergency light won't charge the battery.

QUOTE(maxxon @ Nov 26 2013, 04:50 PM) Spotted same model of recessed emergency lights in Sunway Medical Centre just now.. Your casing look similar to mine, mine can be use on ceiling, yours should be able use on ceiling. I prefer not because is obvious, putting behind the stairs is better for mine.

My emergency light mount on top of the wall, is not so noticeable. Charge is auto, but after few years the battery will deteriorate. Is better change because it won't hold charge anymore. Just like auto gate backup battery it will pregnant and later leak. QUOTE(maxxon @ Nov 27 2013, 01:45 AM) Yes, this is meant to be recessed into the plaster ceiling just like our downlights. I find it okay to be placed at a corner above the stair case. It is flat on the ceiling but not the protruded type like the oldtimes'. So, it looks okay for me. If you want a smaller ones, they have a 6" square type just like a downlight fitting. The charging will be auto right? It is only being used once awhile when there is electricity blackout, hence my parent's has last >15 years and it hasn't been taken down from the ceiling since then.. Putting behind the stairs?? Do you mean the portable type and you store it in the storeroom underneath your staircase? If like that, it just function like a big torchlight lor? For me, the purpose we install emergency light is so that we won't be in total darkness no matter we are at the up or downstairs as it will be lighten up automatically when no electricity. As such, we won't be panic especially for girls and kiddos at home. We will also not hurting ourself moving in darkness.... This post has been edited by weikee: Nov 27 2013, 10:23 AM

QUOTE(maxxon @ Mar 4 2014, 08:04 AM) Yup, it was done by their technician. PVC valve is easier to be weared off, and gonna cause leakage then... Yup, I learned the hard way, and replaced it by my own. Cheaper too that way. The plumber want to charge me RM 250. I only spend 100+ for 3 brass/metal valve, few feet PVC and some connectors. Free installation usually use PVC valve.

QUOTE(maxxon @ Mar 4 2014, 12:34 PM) Good thing that you are handy. Most of the times, little job also ended up with hundreds... coz they factored in their workmanship, travelling petrol and their time stuck in traffic (for those who lives in klang valley especially)!! Haha... Yup, can't blame them, they need to earn living, nothing is free. If I have no time I am OK to pay. Lucky I was free that month.

From my previous reno experience, sometime things can't be avoided and perfection will made yourself too stress. I only see perfection when I deal with Japaneseccontractor in Tokyo, their workmanship are superb. Price wise haha can't imagine.

QUOTE(maxxon @ Mar 24 2014, 08:29 PM) Not all are 13A sockets, just 6 of it with 3 nos on one looping. Need lots of individual sockets coz i do not want to use a multi sockets as it will further the gap between tv console and the wall. Basically, i need sockets for TV, blueray/disc player, media player, home theater system, etc. Don't you think i really need that many of power sockets? You will have one small challenge, if you plan to put surged protector, is individual socket. So for I find the best surge protector is still Cal-lab and they only have by socket.

There are some work on master switch, I don't know the reliability of the master switch surge protector. So far the best serving me is Cal-Lab is an isolater.

Will consult them for more info... Thanks bro for bringing this part out. I will just switch off the master switch at night before bed... You have another master switch for the socket? or is the MCB?

QUOTE(maxxon @ Mar 25 2014, 11:56 AM) The master switch is hidden in side the compartment just beside the DB box. See... The little switch there... Not sure of your DB box height, if its normal 5ft height, My guess you will just ignore it after sometime.

In Forum, is good to challenge, question, and ask. If not we will not know. But don't take it personal when feel challenge / question.

Just don't overload into one socket. (In case you have super duper 100' TV and Super Duper HiFi system)
