Hi maxxon where do you intend to place the emergency lights ? Every rooms or main areas ?
I was thinking of 3, one between living /dining, back and family room upstairs.
*
I just plan to place one of it on the ceiling above the staircase as shown in the first floor plan below. So, in case of an electricity blackout, this unit of emergency light will automatically lighten up the family hall upstairs and the staircase. Whereas the living room will be lighten up by the emergency led lights on the fan. As such, there will be basically some brightness to move around down and upstairs. Although it is not being installed at the back of house but i think there will still be some brightness from the living room, at least it is not a total darkness...

Your casing look similar to mine, mine can be use on ceiling,  yours should be able use on ceiling. I prefer not because is obvious, putting behind the stairs is better for mine.
*
Yes, this is meant to be recessed into the plaster ceiling just like our downlights. I find it okay to be placed at a corner above the stair case. It is flat on the ceiling but not the protruded type like the oldtimes'. So, it looks okay for me.
If you want a smaller ones, they have a 6" square type just like a downlight fitting.

The charging will be auto right? It is only being used once awhile when there is electricity blackout, hence my parent's has last >15 years and it hasn't been taken down from the ceiling since then..

Putting behind the stairs?? Do you mean the portable type and you store it in the storeroom underneath your staircase? If like that, it just function like a big torchlight lor? For me, the purpose we install emergency light is so that we won't be in total darkness no matter we are at the up or downstairs as it will be lighten up automatically when no electricity. As such, we won't be panic especially for girls and kiddos at home. We will also not hurting ourself moving in darkness....

I had the exact same door. Do watch out for installation, if not done properly it will be not straight.
*
Err...would you mind to illustrate more? Can I know which alignment you are reffering to which is possibily not straight?
How can I check mine?

The top, left and right side of the door frame. You can only see it during installation. Once is all patch up you won't see any more. I was generally spending 2 hours every day during renovation to watch over them until it is all done.

Thanks for the reminder ya... checked mine...it seems ok... tongue.gif

For ur bathroom and spare room u use 6" downlight which could fit 2 bulb but instead u use 1 bulb only ah?

For ur bedroom and living room what kind of downlight u using?
*
I'll see if it is bright enough using 1pc bulb... I don't need very bright in bathroom and spare room, i like cosy ambience..

Following are what I have in mind and I have already purchased all those lightings..
i) masterbedroom- all led eyeballs on ceiling + table lamps on bedside tables + pendant light near dressing area;
ii) study/leisure room - 4" led downlights;
iii) Living room - combination of one row of T5 L-box + 4"led downlights + eyeballs + floor lamp (will on different combination based on different usage and mood temperature);
iv) dining room - pendant light + led track lights + led eyeballs;
v) foyer - pendant light + led track lights;
vi) kitchen - 4" led downlights + led eyeballs + led light strips underneath kit cab + pendant light above kit island.

Living room ur downlight is on the l-box? Cool.
Also ur t5 and the downlight what colour u using?
*
I gonna put 2 rows of T5 tubes in the same light cove, warm white and daylight. There will be 2 switch to control..daylight is gonna be used only when im reading..

Downlights in living room 2 are on Lbox (but not straight underneath the T5), 2 are not.

Downlights basically are warm white and cool white (light yellow).

This part tak faham,haha.
*
Err.... How to explain ler? hmm.gif

My Lbox is kinda wide in width (roughly around 4') coz im going to install a cassette aircond there. So, the downlights will be one each beside the aircond. (Im trying to tell that mine is not like most ppl which they have a thinner strip of lbox with dowllights along the strips).

Another 2 downlights will be on the big center panel of plaster ceiling, above the sofa. That's for the extra brightness when i do reading on sofa...

I hope u get me this time...if not have to wait till i show the pic after installation.... tongue.gif

so hows the progress of ur house so far? still within schedule? now is end of november already
*
My initial plan is to move in by end of Nov so that i can use it for my wedding in early Dec. I've tried my best to monitor the renovation progress but still it is unable to meet the date line... So, I just have to accept the fact and move on with other solution...
I wish it a smooth progress but do not intend to rush things out as I do not want a bad job that will probably be an eyesore and make me regret for many years living in it.

It is now going on with tiling job and will start installing the windows next week.
Works which are still pending are basically:-
- car porch tiling
- Lightings, fans, airconds and switches installation
- grills and gate
- folding door at kitchen (pending kitchen floor tiling)
- curtains
- kitchen cab
- laminate flooring for the whole 1st floor (will do after tiling job in bathrooms)
- wardrobe (it is ready and can be installed straight after the laminate floor)
- installing bathrooms fittings

Hi Maxxon,

Dont mind me to ask, what are you working as?
I knew KL have a lot of millionaire, but just wondering why they are so rich?
million for a house and renovation.  hmm.gif
*
First of all, the hse doesn't belongs to me yet, it belongs to the bank to be exact.
Used to work in some MNCs and worked in oversea before. Hubby and I are running some small biz right now.
For the renovation, it's our hard savings thru out many years (sounds like someone's wifey but I'm not as easy as her tongue.gif )
I'm already in my thirties btw. Nothing comes easy, and so does our journey. However, I think I'm just a tiny little kacang compared others. Just like you, I'm also curious how does others make their money and afford those luxury semi-D, bangalow and luxury cars. I really dreamt about it...tell you this and pls don't laugh at me, I'm just drving a 7 years old Myvi. blush.gif

No no, you are right. i would rather spend money on house rather than spending on liability example car.
yea, to be exact the house still belong to the bank but i have to spend a decade of my current salary and only able to pay for the downpayment of a million house.
Anyway, thanks for your sharing and i understand everyone will really go through hard time to gain something. no pain no gain.  laugh.gif
Good to hear that you are soon going to a bright future and seem to be everything is going to be stable now.
*
There is actually no absolute right or wrong on someone's lifestyle or spending habit... it's just personal preference based on individual financial planning and priorities. I love cars too and another new car is already in the plan where it will only be purchased when I achieve another stage of my financial goal. So, I've got to gambatte!!

I'm actually quite new with the LED stuffs.
What does Lumen mean? higher the better?
*
As what I understand, lumen is referring to the brightness or light intensity...the higher lumen it has, the brighter it is. For the same wattage, different colour temperatures has different lumen. (e.g. Yellow lights has lower lumen compared daylight).

Following is what I captured from wikipedia:-
The lumen (symbol: lm) is the SI derived unit of luminous flux, a measure of the total "amount" of visible light emitted by a source. Luminous flux differs from power (radiant flux) in that luminous flux measurements reflect the varying sensitivity of the human eye to different wavelengths of light, while radiant flux measurements indicate the total power of all electromagnetic waves emitted, independent of the eye's ability to perceive it. A lux is one lumen per square meter.

This security door is like a thick door together with a big and thicker frame and you dont have to install the grille anymore? is it something like that?
*
Although it's named as 'security door', but nothing is 100%, even the seller would tell you the same.
However, we are just adding more barrier features to make it harder for the intruders. Thus, our home security is basically a combination of various features.

Normally people do not install grill when they have the security door as it is already a metal which is harder to cut. Further more, it has more lock sets to secure the main lock and also the upper and bottom locks.

The door is moulded so that the lock set is hidden from outside of the door. As such, it is not expose where people couldn't reach the lock set with metal ruler or cutter.

hi maxxon, how is ur kitchen cabinet progress going on? i think i order from the same company as yours , quite worried now as i read some negative comment on the company, do update me on the quality of their work ,thks,
*
The kitchen cab is not in process yet as it is pending the floor tiles in kitchen to get the exact measurement. Me too very worry on their quality after reading some bad comments in the forum. No choice for me but to pray hard that they deliver good work as I've already paid a RM1k in the fair.... mellow.gif

I find the kitchen door looks a bit weird....
Further more, I told the vendor that I can't accept this door as the door's size is much smaller than the frame. Will see how they gonna rectify it.
