just wanted to check with the gurus ..

is there any particular requirement for purchasing applecare.. i.e. i have to purchase applecare on the day i purchase my macbook?

cos i see people selling applecare retail packs on ebay for quite reasonable prices..
can i purchase the macbook & purchase applecare separately?

I've found a US-based merchant on eBay selling ACPPs at a much cheaper price, but unfortunately they don't ship to Malaysia. sad.gif

nope. they'll give you an AppleCare Enrollment number. This number must either be processed through your local Apple Retail Partner or registered online at apple.com/register

Dang, my ipod has gone bonkers... Cannot charge even though the battery is nearly empty, now that the battery is kosong, now cannot even switch on...

If i were to send the pod to Applecare for a check-up, how much will they charge? And is it the one in BSC?

Wow, not cheap also...

Anyway my iPod is fine already, the problem is because of a totally flat battery, which is why i had problems with the charging... Now its doing alright after a few hours of charging...

If we have applecare for iPod then is totally free of charge, rigth?

what if my iPod bought in singapore and I buy the apple care in local, will they entertain us?

Another scenario is I bought my iPod outside malaysia and apple care as well, can I bring it to the apple service center in malaysia?

I think they want to ensure that the damage is due to the manufacturer defect, not due to user's carelessness... Otherwise i can just fling my Pod like a baseball towards the wall and then send to Applecare for a replacement unit! laugh.gif

You know, I once put a 3G iPod on my car mount and I didn't know there's a magnet inside the mount so the harddisk of the iPod went haywire after several days of use. I sent it back to Apple and they shipped me a new one with a small note apologizing for the harddrive failure.

God forgive me. blush.gif

Wow, at least u got a replacement unit... I think they must have assumed that the HDD failure was a manufacturer's defect (quite common occurrence, right?)...

I'm not sure if they cover for just merely one single dead pixel (if that is your case), coz the last time I asked around, an LCD screen of more than 5 dead pixels can only qualify for a warranty claim.... but that was a year ago....
