DBA is costly at around more than RM35k in some places and PhD cheaper at around RM10k in some places. Trouble with these programs is you got to speak to your supervisor(s) and see if they are friendly. I had one supervisor for my PhD that could not remember what I did after 4 months at Unikl. The supervisor kept on referring to his UUM dissertation because he could not really answer my questions off the top of his head. I complained to management and all I got was redirection to someone else in the department - in other words pass the buck attitude.
I also experienced a DBA with CSU - an Aussie uni, that disappeared after two years and wanted more monies to continue which can be a bitter and expensive lesson. Went to consumer tribunal to complain the case but was told not to contest because some VIP was the CEO and the DG of Education said I would be sued for defamation. So really do you want to take the risk? This post has been edited by zheng88: Sep 8 2013, 03:26 AM |

Yes, if for PhD. YOu can jump straight into a PhD in Business Admin without a Master's degree if you have first class honours. But this is not encouraged as most business degree students do not carry out any research projects during their undergraduate days.If yes, which University offers it and how? They would need you to have at least a Master's degree in Business and some managerial experience as well. 2 years = yes for a PhD Likely to be a NO for a DBA. This is because DBA would follow a certain syllabus structure. |

Having a 1st class honours is merely one of the prerequisites to be met in order by bypass Masters before proceeding toa PhD. Does not mean that just because you have that you can get it. And the research thingy is also one major difference between the UK and Australian system. under the Australian system, there's no such thing as honours for a 3 year degree. You'll need to do a 4th honours year (which is open only by invitation) which consist of research work. QUOTE(Blofeld @ Sep 10 2013, 06:15 PM) Likely to be a NO for a DBA. To answer your questions:If yes, which University offers it and how? Is it possible to complete PHD/DBA within 2 years? i really wish to know.. please tell me.. 1) is it possible to study DBA/PHD in Business Administration "WITHOUT" a Master in Business Administration certificate? -It is possible to study PhD without an MBA (but you must have really excellent degree result). For DBA, I have a friend who has a Master of Management before getting his DBA. 2) If yes, which University offers it and how? - I know most public and private universities offer PhD (as long as you have first class honours in your bachelor degree, normally you just have to apply for PhD and depending on your research experience, the uni post grad center will advise you accordingly). However, for DBA I am not too sure. Also, the course fees for DBA will be more pricey compared to PhD. 3) Is it possible to complete PHD/DBA within 2 years? - For PhD, it all depends on your commitment, discipline, determination, perseverance. You can finish it within 2 years. But for most of the universities I know, studying PhD on a full-time basis takes 3 years to complete. Dependent on the uni again, perhaps you can submit your thesis earlier..before the end of 3 years. For DBA, there are some coursework/syllabus that you have to complete. It is not on a fully research basis. So probably you will need more than 2 years to complete it. |

You don't need a DBA.
Look at Zuckerberg, Goh Tong, Ka Sing, Gates, Jobs, Dell. They are either not formally school or dropouts. |
