do you know standard allowance from Govt.?
i've heard about COLA, elaun perkhidmatan awam, elaun perumahan etc etc but dunno how much is the exact amount
wish somebody from Govt. site to have a friendly talk about the allowances here
i think a Govt. servant basic salary plus all the allowances make the gross salary wonderful

yup, it does make ur salary looks wonderful

the allowances vary, depending on your position, your seniority and your location

i can oonly give example on housing allowance for a fresh eng for JKR

housing allowance

standard : rm 210

if from swak transferred to another region (say semenajung) = rm 400+

if from semenanjung transferred to sarawak: > 600+ (if got family, much better)

that's an overview of govt slary

btw, the govt will review salary sclae for govt servant in the next few months

edit: so, (basic) + (all allowance) = 1,8xx + 7xx = 2,5xx for a fresh swakian eng who works in sarawak JKR

if you work in Putrajaya u can apply housing from gahmen for free..

if u opt for the housing placement, then u dun get the housing alllowance

my advice: if u r still single, get the money and rent a cheap room and save.

Basic Salary - Depends on your code (for IT, the code is FTxx, where xx is number). From what I know, diploma holder basic normally less than RM1,200 while for degree holder, less than RM1,800.

Public service allowance - RM100.

Below applies to government staff who was transferred to work in another state...

Housing allowance - RM180 (technician), RM210 (engineer), RM700 (manager). If you opt for a house provided by gov., then this allowance is subject to deduction.

Project allowance - RM300 (may vary based on the project)

Site allowance - RM800 (may vary depend on your project's location)

Substance allowance - RM2k+ (only higher management get to enjoy this allowance, it is like send a staff to work outstation and your rate is calculated based on the number of days you stay and work in outstation)

what are you working as first? the cola depends on your location... iirc the whole penang is getting 150 per month ( some people say its because Abdullah from penang )
