I am still have no faith in their software update. No reliable date, they just keep come out new phone and stick to that Android OS for its life.
Still LG is fine for those who doesn't care what's the android version as long as the features is there and usable.

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Sep 13 2013, 01:46 PM) Nolah, it is totally different. Android and iOS are different. Thus they work differently on the back end.

QUOTE(Xirality @ Sep 17 2013, 02:46 AM) I just tried Optimus G Pro last few days. LG UI looks very cartoonish, even more than Sammy. G2 also use the same UI as G Pro? I doubt it change much. But let's hope they did bring over those new G2 lock/unlock, guest mode feature to Optimus G and G Pro.

QUOTE(Xirality @ Sep 17 2013, 11:18 AM) The lock and unlock feature is one of the smartest LG thing could have done. I hate fiddle with button every time lock and unlock LG should patent it That is one true innovation unlock method. Over long usage, power button tends to get loose up. Still , LG update for 4.3/4.4 will always remain mystery. And my guess LG Optimus G probably will stuck at 4.1.2 forever. Still, we'll see if there will be google edition.

QUOTE(cedyy @ Sep 17 2013, 03:30 PM) i used to own an LG windows phone but after that have never really considered another LG phone until this G2. If priced below Rm2k and lesser than S4, i'd consider getting it FYI, LG malaysia bring in those flagship very late to the market. Take a look at LG Optimus G. It was release like last year, but local availability begins around HTC one release.

QUOTE(gogo2 @ Sep 17 2013, 04:44 PM) Not to mention, hard to find also. LOL True, Samsung and Sony are strong in TV Advertising. I think Samsung dominates the most. That's why its selling like hot cake. Not to mention they keep the removable battery and SD card storage extension which LG don't offers. Speaking of which I never see Sony advertise XZR on tv, instead they focus on XZU.

QUOTE(terion @ Oct 8 2013, 01:31 AM) well thats what i found out after reading around the web that LG doesnt do much update on the Android, but I may be wrong about this phone, you never know Well, u got it quite right. LG don't do much update major OS. They did promise to devoted to provide up to date android OS since LG optimus G(still 4.1.2, while competitors are on 4.2.2 or 4.3 for flagship), but they failed to achieve that. And it still follows the same situation as LG Optimus 2X, and so on.

QUOTE(shawnsean @ Oct 28 2013, 10:22 AM) root and custom ROM won't solve that SMS issue as i still faced that with the Chinese ROM. Basically anything over 160 characters will be sent as MMS. Simpler solution would be to use apps like GoSMSPro. BTW with the Custom ROM you can't get OTA anymore. There's no option in the phone to check for software update and LG PC Suite doesn't allow software upgrade, at least on that Chinese ROM that I had Most LG flagships are stuck with just 1 Major OS OTA Update and its done for it for its LG Flagship phones history. I don't think you would lose much unless its a big leap.

QUOTE(smudger14 @ Oct 31 2013, 02:48 PM) since android is tie up with LG on the nexus series...i really hope we can get kit kat for our model No it won't be that fast. It will be delayed until most users keep ranting on "where's the 4.4 update" for at least 6 months. As most people know how bad LG Software distribution works.

QUOTE(ChrisWeiYuan @ Oct 31 2013, 03:45 PM) Agreed with you. The fastest way you can get is via root. Lolz. Root the system. Root doesn't help u get anywhere as well, u need to unlock bootloader. Ur stuck with 4.2.2 JB rom and 4.4 KK rom is two different ROM.

QUOTE(ChrisWeiYuan @ Oct 31 2013, 04:01 PM) Does that mean we need to unlock the bootloader then only we could upgrade to 4.4KK rom? Correct me if i'm wrong. I'm not going to say any further. Google urself what can root do and what can unlocked bootloader do. Clearly, u can't tell the difference when u mentioned root in the first place u mentioned it.
