So... I read some articles and found that I need to donate 20 items to museum in order to get 2nd floor. It also mentions 'at least 1 to each category'. Does it mean I still need to donate items other than fish, bugs and fossils e.g. paintings?

Yes, you have to donate at least 1 Fish, Bugs, Painting and Fossils. But out of the category, one must reach at least 20 items... or was it the total donation reaching 20? I never really had problems getting that one lol. Just remember to talk to that Owl dude everyday.

can we trade bells or give bells to friends?

Just throw the money to the ground.
Go to inventory and touch to choose the amount of bells.

Yes you can, just drop your bells on the ground and ask your friend to pick them up.

why i cannot drop the bells? no option to drop

edit: now can, but when my friend is around, i cannot drop it, only can be put away

You have to turn it into Bags of Gold only you can drop.

Make sure you're not standing on a QR Code Design/Custom Patch. Some people have the tendency to cover stations with QR Code pattern, but you can't drop anything there at all. Try standing on a natural ground (grass/dirt patch) and drop.
