There's this one stupid black vertical line on the top display screen. I don't know why or how it happened, it just appeared when I opened the console. This was two weeks after I bought the console so I went back to the vendor to ask. They said don't know never encounter this kind of problem before but they can ask how much to change the screen for me. After that I went and asked them again same answer was given. 6 months later still no news, the limited "warranty" with them also expired. Really frustrating and saddening to get this kind of problem. Not a big issue, but still. Paid money for something just to receive an imperfect product. Plus my OCD doesn't allow it. Kept it in a hard case all the time and never dropped it even once. You'd expect to have scratches or cracks on the external of the device but instead I get a "crack" internally. If anyone can tell me what caused this and how/where I can repair this it'd be much appreciated.

that's a type of defect commonly found on LCD screen, a bit similar to dead pixel
you should have request for the exchange/repair on the spot when u bring it back to the seller as it's still considered under their 'limited' warranty
but since it's already past the 6 months of their limited warranty period, nothing much you can do about it beside sending it over a reputable shop to replace the top screen, or to save the hassle, just get a new one
and don't forget to post up the name of the vendor/seller you got the 3DS from, blacklist them

I thought dead pixels only occur during manufacturing? It was fine when I first purchased it. And I've never seen such a perfect line as a dead pixel before.
They did not have the screen in stock which is why they had to call their supplier. If I were them I'd change the supplier. Asking the price of a single item takes over half a year jeez. The limited warranty only covered service and software anyway. So basically the repair fee would be free but I still had to pay for the screen, no point.
Problem is I've asked most of the shops I can find here (Penang) but none of them could give me a definite answer. Mostly because they've never heard of the problem and no one has that top screen in stock. One even asked me to go to Nintendo service centre lol. Do we even have one? Don't think I can sell this one off so buying a new one is out of the question.
If anyone knows any reliable game shop that does repair/service that won't cut my throat please inform me.
