Do you have a broadband at home with at least 4Mbps?? If yes, there are ways(legal!) to subscribe to international services to watch(video on demand) tons of movies and tv dramas on your tv! You can now stop paying RM100++ every month to Astro! Now you only need to pay approximately RM 26.40 (USD1 = RM 3.3) per month!
And the first month is TOTALLY FREE!!!! shocking.gif

Sample Videos

BONUS! Now with XBMC preloaded and configured!! thumbup.gif

What is NETFLIX?
Netflix is the No. 1 TV streaming services in the US and the World. The trend is towards video-on-demand, and in US, many people are cutting their cable TVs and going for video on demand streaming from the internet because it’s much cheaper! You can do the same in here! There are over 100,000 titles in Netflix library (movies and tv dramas, action, sci-fi, comedy, documentary, drama, cartoons etc) for all your viewing needs. There’s even kungfu flicks from top action HK star like Donnie Yen, Jet Li and Jackie Chan! I suppose gwei loh really like HK kungfu movies. 

(A) What is the benefit of this?
1. Tons of movies and tv series in widescreen. Generally, the quality is almost as good as Astro HD! (And definitely better than you get on Astro SD). Forget about downloading from here and there…just sit back on your sofa, browse the library, click and watch! (Warning: Please stock up on popcorns, keropok, kuaci, peanuts or whatever you fancy…)
2. You don’t have to worry about subscribing to some backdoor service like Skybox cline thingy with poor SD image quality and got your money ripped off and doing something illegal!
3. Video On Demand – watch video on demand whenever you choose, no need to worry about missing the show!
4. Original award winning Netflix TV series like House of Cards, Orange is the New Black etc. not available on other networks!
5. Resume where you last left off – Netflix remembers where you watched your shows until and will resume from that point onwards when you watch it next time. It’ll even automatically pops the next episode once you’re done watching the current episode of serial TV dramas.
6. Allows for 2 accounts login simultaneously….watch from your PC in another room! Let the kid watch cartoon on the PC while you watch something else on the TV in the living room! (* Will requires more bandwidth to get optimal quality). Astro will demand you to pay another 50% of your current subscription for “Multi Room Experience”. whistling.gif
7. English subtitles for maybe 85% of the shows.
8. NO ADVERTISEMENT!!! thumbup.gif
9. Way cheaper than Astro!!! biggrin.gif

(B) What are the requirements?
1. Recommended 5Mbps broadband. Minimum 4Mbps broadband. With WIFI already configured.
2. A wide screen TV with free HDMI port. ( biggrin.gif )

© How much will it cost me?
1. RM 399. (Refer hardware details below) . I only earn a small profit from the hardware. Optional on-site installation(PJ only!) on request can be provided (if required), but usually, if you can follow some simple instructions, it is not needed.
2. USD 7.99/month – this will be payable directly to Netflix via Creditcard/Paypal etc. (I don’t earn anything from this). 1st month trial is TOTALLY FREE!!! Your credit card will only be charged from the end of the 1st month onwards.

(D) Other Questions:
1. Can I cancel my subscription?
A: Yes, just login to Netflix using your PC and cancel anytime you like. But the subscription will last for the month and next month onwards, your credit card will not be charged.
2. Can I still use the Android Box after I cancel Netflix subscription?
A: Yes, of course! You can still use it to watch other FREE shows using other apps, or watch downloaded movies, or play games and browse web.
3. How is the quality of the Netflix video?
A: Netflix intelligent streaming will auto adjust quality to your network condition, with 5Mbps connection, your quality is almost like Astro HD, but of course not comparable to some Bluray Disc or Bluray rips you have downloaded. It streams using about 1Mbps – 3.xxMbps, depending on your network condition.
4. Will it keep display “Buffering” every few minutes?
A: I have been running it for half a month. The buffering thing seldom occurs unless you drag the movie to move fast forward or rewind to a new position. I can convincingly say Netflix streaming is top notch…Netflix is a public listed company in US, not an illegal C-line service runs by fly-by-night operators..( and because you are a paying customer, not a freeloader…).
5. This package is best cater to who?
A: It is best for US contents, movies and tvs. Chinese/Korean/Taiwan stuff you can use other Android Apps or browser to watch for FREE anyway.
6. I want to watch Live Sports. Suitable for me?
A: Unfortunately, No. This is not for watching Sports, but for movies and dramas. You can’t win them all I guess.
7. Is it stable?
A: I have run it 8 hours straight watching Netflix on marathon on one weekend. No problem!!!!

(E) Why buy from me?
1. Because I am hobbyist…some sellers are just interested to sell the hardware and that’s it…doh.gif… I am interested in selling an Experience and making the best out of what is there, not just hardware. And this is a good thing to share, while making a little money. And I hate seeing people ripped off by ASTRO…LOL.
2. Q: I can buy any Android box elsewhere and do it myself?
A: Sure. But not all Android box/phone/tablets/devices are build the same, this particular piece of hardware runs Netflix very admirably…I have tried other Android box before….but the performance is too slow (or maybe there are incompatibility issue with the app, I don’t know). I have already bang my head against the wall for you. Do you want to do the same and risk buying incompatible hardware/software? And I don’t charge extra either (unless there is site installation required).
3. I will try my best to make sure you have something you can use almost immediately with minimal tinkering with the hardware.

BUYERS FEEDBACK

QUOTE(mik3 @ Sep 6 2013, 10:13 AM)
Good seller, patiently answer all the question i've asked,  if going to buy 2nd unit, definitely will buy from Matrix

Good responsive seller with after sales service.

So, if you want to get your android stick up and running with minimum fuss and proven results, getting your unit pre-installed with the RIGHT software will save you from a lot of headaches. Like Matrix said, he has done the hard work for you and even if you don't get the 'best' android stick based on the RK3188, you will get one that properly runs Netflix on Android 4.2.2 - which is exactly what he is selling.

Good responsive seller with after sales service.

The thing with most android sticks based on the quad-core Rockchip RK3188 (which have more or less the same hardware specs) is that you need to do a lot research to get it working perfectly with everything.

Basically, I shortlisted the sticks to either the Rikomagic MK802 IV (stock rooted, 1080 kernel) or the iMito QX1 (not stock rooted) and went with the former. There are other models out there and most if not all have been covered here.

The best? You can try to make a comparison between all the various models in the market but you have got to make sure you are comparing an apple with another apple as the results of the benchmark/tests depend on the version of android as well as ROM version. Even the same model from the same manufacturer may contain different hardware depending on the production date! In this instance, this unit may either be utilising the Realtek 8189 wifi chipset (in earlier versions) or Broadcom AP6210 wifi chipset (in later versions) which I have yet to verify.

Then again, if heat is really a consideration, the iMito model seems to have a better heat dissipation design as well as an optional external antennae but as far as my experience goes, the Rikomagic is not excessively hot in a non air-conditioned environment and I haven't encountered any problems - it is just warm to the touch and the wifi works well enough on my stock UniFi d-link dir-615 for netflix purposes.

BTW, if you are looking for more ports etc, an android box such as the highly rated Minix Neo X7 (which has all the frills including 16 gb memory) would better suit your needs. The android stick is about portability.

Anyway, if you want to do your own 'survey', do check out forums like xda-developers or freak-tab. This guy called Rivers @ Some Cool Tech also has plenty of good reviews of android sticks with plenty of information in YouTube.

My vintage 1080i/720p HD Ready TV (not Full HD ie 1080p) however doesn't display text very clearly due to hardware limitation on the part of the non-full HD TV. Currently exploring the internet to see what my options are apart from upgrading the TV. Need to max the font size to make out the words so beware if your TV is not Full HD! As for video quality of Netflix, it is definitely better than SD but you just can't compare it with blu-ray and do note that Netflix uses intelligent streaming in that if your bandwidth is good, you get better quality and vice versa.

Not true at all. Netflix is much more enjoyable to use. And it's just click and play.
XBMC, you have to do lots of diggings to get the stuff you want, deal with broken links, and links which never finish loading sometimes.

You can't compare free hacked stuff to actual paid services.
Especially for elderly folks... XBMC will be a challenge to use.

Personally I do most of my viewing with Netflix. For watching the latest release then
I will switch to XBMC.
