all hs need high cfm to moderate the air temperature to be similar to the hs (faster heat exchange) but generally copper needs a high pressure fan to run even more efficient compared to alu. such fan can be found on most high speed rpm. why is pressure so crucial? most of the fans out there can easily achieve a high cfm, but to get that much of air being squeeze in between the fins, you need the fast fan to squeeze the air through it.

coppers are great and a small copper hs perform as efficient as those bulky alu fans. for me its a no no for copper. mainly coppers are fan dependent, if you're ocing your pc at high clock speed. consider the heat generated is high. In the event of fan breakdown. the hs will have a sudden increment in heat. as mention. copper has lower specific heat. so they generally stores less heat thus heat rises. if you're lucky, the overheat protection from the mobo will shutdown just in time before the processor gets fried.

alu's my choice la. since it can perform fanless e.g si-120 and xp120. i think its the plus side. ofcourse it can't achieve a higher overclockable ability for the processor. but i'm willing to play on the safe side. In addition, alu hs are easy to clean and they don't oxidize like copper. cleaning is also a breeze since you just need to clean with water and soap. copper? clean the dust then celup inside coke to clear the oxidized parts. they can't be exposed to water. on the long run when you're tired with the noise of the cpu( getting deaf), you'll start to go for quiet hs.

i too will choose x-dream. copper and alu makes a good pair. one sucks the heat out faster while the other dissipates heat out. perfect duo just like ninja.

So, the thing you're saying here is that the X dream III is good? rclxub.gif
So it means that Aluminium + Copper is good for dissipating heat?
Just wanna ask, what about my Hyper 6+?
It's base is copper, the heatpipe is copper and the fins is aluminium, is it good too? sweat.gif

Need some answers here... rclxub.gif

Yup!!!
You're damn right...
High CFM fan + High Speed Fan = High Noise... rclxub.gif

But, the interesting part is alu needs alot more energy provided to it only then temperature will increase. (specific heat) I am still scratching my head over this though...
*
Can you be specific about that?
I don't really understand that...
What do you mean by need more energy? rclxub.gif

thx for the nice info... notworthy.gif
hyper 6 is alum fins ka? i tot is fully copper...haha...
well...of cz its good lar..  biggrin.gif

I'm using a hyper 6+ not hyper 6...
Those two heatsink is different in their fins...

Hyper 6 is full copper...
Hyper 6+ have a copper base while it, fins are made from aluminium... thumbup.gif

The orange fan is the Thermaltake Smart Fan...
Yes, the fan is so damn freaking loud!!!... vmad.gif

The last time i have bigwater in my hands, i can't sleep while my pc is on... sweat.gif

FYI, bigwater uses a 120MM Thermaltake Smart Fan... (Damn Freaking Noisy) laugh.gif

Just got mine an ASUS Star Ice Cooler just now...
Originally, the base of the heatsink was freaking rough... vmad.gif

Google around and found a website teaching about lapping...

So, i read what's stated in the webpage, and followed everything... sweat.gif

You know how long it takes to make the base of the heatsink to be a mirror shine?
2 straight hours just lapping in front of the TV...

Still, i'm not very satisfied with it coz i can't find a 2400 grit sand paper...

Anyone near shah alam or subang know which shop sells a 2000 and 2400 grit sand paper?

Or is there any sand paper larger than 2400 grit?

Is there 3000 grit? rclxub.gif
4000 grit? rclxub.gif

Anyone near shah alam or subang know which shop do sells a bigger code grit of sand paper, (bigger than 1200) do let me know... icon_question.gif

dude...1200grit shud be fine, or u can do finishing lapping with 1600grit...if u wan the mirror finish, then polish the hs surface with brasso...
*
Brasso?
How about Soft99?

Or it have to be brasso?

Anyway...
Is what you're been saying all this time [PWM] is the chipset temperature? blink.gif

polish wif brasso...tat will cause the base cover wif layer of brasso rite? i mean like wax or smthg..dunno lar..i used to polish my bmx bike wif brasso n whn i contac wif water it looks like the bike hv been covered wif wax...the water stays together..... tongue.gif
*
Siauann...
What you're saying is kinda true...

I use lapped an intel stock heatsink and use soft99 to polish it. And when i pour some water on the heatsink, it turns out that that there's some oil @ wax on it...

That's not good right? rclxub.gif

Huhh?
Why can't u fit ninja into your case?
Your case is a thin case?

Another thing, when did i scary?

Differences between idle and load temp? laugh.gif

Idle means when you're pc is on and you're doing nothing on that pc... smile.gif

Load means when you're using the pc for playing games, listening to music and everything else.... smile.gif

Got that? rclxms.gif

Wei..this is a sacrilege leh.

Overclocker's definition of load is Prime95 load temp...or multiple Primes for multi cores and HT cpu's.

Idle is everything else.

Somemore all those 20+ degrees temps...hate to throw cold water but despite what the software says, it's unrealistic because a heat producing object cannot be colder than the air around it.

That's unless you tell me u have a 2hp aircon running full blast and ur room is at 16C ambient temp.
