Your about screen doesn't look like MIUI's normal about screen. Here's mine from a Mi2S, while you can see other MI3 about screens at http://en.miui.com/thread-13766-1-1.html.

maybe you can ask them why it's not the original MIUI ROM, and see if they can flash it back for you.. My Mi2S came with MIUI right out of the box..

otherwise, you can try flashing it yourself.. it was fairly simple for me when I was switching from Stable to Developer rom.. resources are at http://en.miui.com/download-101.html just make sure you select the correct version (yours should be Mi3-TD)

highly recommend the developer ROM for weekly updates..

personally, I feel that the wait might be shorter now..

RedMi Note which was just launched in China will go on sale in SG in May, which is only about 2 months..

Mi3S is rumoured to be launched with the same price as the MI3 @ 1999 Yuan.

if you can live with a few language bugs here & there, I would suggest remain using the wcdma (developer build) for weekly updates..

the ones i noticed is that in some areas, the tab options show up as chinese instead of english.. I don't face issues with Whatsapp/FB notifications..

I think it's because you have an app/folder/widget on the bottom right of your last home screen.

MIUI doesn't come with an application tray, so all apps are on the homescreens (like iOS). Whenever you install a new app, it will add it after the last app. So if you have no more space on your last home screen, then it will automatically create a new home screen.

Personal opinion: MIUI build version more important than android version.

MIUI has a developer ROM, which is updated weekly.. Brings new features & fixes every week.

Hrm.. MIUI being a custom ROM was built off a particular Android base (4.3 for Mi3). It brings a lot of additional features/customizations. Imagine TouchWiz for Samsung devices or HTC Sense for HTC (obviously)..

MIUI developers provide constant updates, adding new features, new enhancements & fixes existing bugs.. They "crowd-source" requests, meaning they look into forums & user feedback on new features & requests.. And having these changes released every week (with the exception of CNY), users have new things to look forward to every week. To me, this is much better than just having it run off the latest Android base, and having to wait a longer time for feature updates, etc..

That being said, having MIUI built on top of the latest Android base is always welcome..

MIUI forum would be a good place to look for resources..

I'm using a Mi2S, and for me, I had to use MiMarket, install an app called Google Installer, and then installed the Play Store from there.

Cannot remember how I installed my Google Keyboard though..

as droidtrix mentioned, flash "Mi3-WCDMA Singapore" for gapps pre-installed (no fuss)..

if you're feeling adventurous, I'd recommend "Mi3-WCDMA/CDMA > Developer ROM" for weekly updates & additional features..

no.. it still uses Android 4.3 as base..

4.4.4 is the release version for their developer roms.. it's based on the date when it was released.. first number is the year, 2nd is the month, and 3rd is the day.. you see 4.4.4 because the latest rom was released on 2014 Apr (4) 4th.

Last week's release was 4.3.28, while next week's will be 4.4.11.


MiFans are anticipating MIUIv6, which should come with Android 4.4 KitKat as the base.

Under their Security app, go to Permission. There will be an toggle to allow apps to get root permission, and also manage what apps can have root.

they're legit.. i got my Mi2S from them.. their prices might not be updated though..

Should be coming very soon.. they're getting beta testers now..

Alternately, you can try using the FTP function in the Explorer app. You can then connect using any FTP client, without having to worry about drivers.

You'll need to change to a Developer ROM for weekly updates.

You can get the ROM here.

You'll need to select Mi3-WCDMA/CDMA. Note that this is China ROM, as there's no Developer ROM for SG Official ROM.
