No we don't have basilisks in malaysia. They are native to South America .The lizard you caught is a garden fence agama (Calotes versicolor). It belongs to the same family as bearded dragons and butterfly lizards. Very nervous lizards, hard to keep in small cages and they need plenty of full sunlight to regulate their body metabolism.
I double confirm the calotes versicolor... the pic is a bit too blur but it really looks like it. And... ya... kind of stuff u don t wanna keep in a tank. They are far too jumpy. I bet it spend its time scratching the plastic and open its mouth when u approach it. Will be far too stress to survive long. It s a problem with most wild caught local agamids (calotes, gonocephalus etc...).As for the basilisk... TAGGY!!!!
