Hi bros and sis who are facing the camera issue (purple tint for photos taken under low light condition),
I have previously sent my phone to SiS Service Centre in Kelana Jaya for replacement of the camera module on 16/08/2013 and was informed by the service representative that the process would take approximately 3 to 4 working days. As expected, unfortunately, the phone repair process took much longer than expected.
Long story ahead, on my experiences dealing with SiS» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
A week after I had sent in my phone (23/08/2013), I called up the helpline, and was told that my phone is still being assessed. After which, I had requested them to expedite the case for me.
Another week later (30/08/2013), I had to personally call the helpline again to get my status update. This time, they informed me that my phone had been repaired and is ready for collection. Happily, I personally went to collect my phone from the service centre at around 5pm. When I arrived, I waited to collect my phone. I was glad that the camera issue had been fixed, BUT, to my horror, my phone was badly scratched at the top, as well as the sides, most probably attributed by the carelessness of the technician in handling my phone during the repair process. I am very sure that my phone did not had a single scratch on it when I sent my phone for repair.
Thus, I demanded that they replace the housing of my unit for free, and they had agreed to do so. Once again, the same service representative told me that the repair process would only take 3 to 4 days.
I even queried the service representative on the estimated waiting time of 3 to 4 working days, whereas in actual, I had waited for 2 weeks in total. They showed the "tidak-apa" attitude, and there seem to be communication breakdown between the technician and the service representatives, on the estimated waiting time.
And now, it has been more than a week since they agreed to replace the housing and there were no updates from them. Even if the housing had been repaired, I fear that they might spoil some other parts of my phone, of which it was working perfectly fine, before I had sent it in for repair.
I am HIGHLY disappointed with the quality of service provided by SiS.
Now, the most important update from my experience above: I was informed by the same service representative that the camera issue has not been resolved, and from my understanding, even if we did replace the camera module, it is only temporary fix. The issue will still come back in the future.
So, boys and girls who planned to replace the camera module, do think twice, ask yourselves:
a) does the camera issue affect/irritate you to the point that you can't tolerate it anymore?
b) are you willing to risk the other possible issues that are attributed to the technician, that may arise after the repair process?
If your answer is yes to both the questions, then please proceed to send your phone for repair, but be prepared to face the above situation that is bugging me now.
