recently i feel more ppl around me start using nokia lumia which a very good sign...

some even ask me, this is nokia lumia? very good camera...can take nice photo....

but mine is 820 so told them good camera is another model....

720 probably has the best camera out of the cheap ones. But 'best' here is subjective. 720 has better low-light performance only because it has 1.9 aperture. Doubt everything else is that different between models.

920 here. Ever since migrated to XZU, been using the 920 purely for camera. Already deleted all social apps - suck anyway.

Now that Microsoft is gonna buy Nokia's handset business, I'm wondering how it will affect the Nokia brand value.

because you never influence them I influenced a few of my friends to grab a lumia, some of them 920s, and most of them 520.

Wonder if anyone will buy it now. In such an unstable situation, even i am a bit scared that my 1 month old 520 don't just disappear from the market

well.. This is my 1st WP8.. Bought green color. Got amber update out of the box. The battery is so nice. Not even deducted 1% after 7hours or more idle. Other than that, this phone is 512mb of ram and cannot play modern combat 4.😞
still waiting free flip casing stock arrive in Malaysia. Ask Nokia store in lowyat, they say not yet arrive. But must pick before 30 September 2013.

i'm waiting price L920 to drop below RM1K. Currently I'm suing HTC 7 Mozart. WP is amazing.

four people in my office use Lumia. It became three when one lost her Lumia 920. Somebody gave her a S3 to replace her Lumia 920.

I wouldn't really recommend anyone to WP8 unless they are interested to try something new. I like to try new OS and every time I change new hp, I always change new OS to keep things first. The WP8 tile style is really different compared to Android's icons and very smooth interface.

However, I do put up with WP8's shortcomings due to my love for WP8 and I don't think any casual users will put up with it (some notification delays and zero FB notifications etc)

I don't know if WP8 can upgrade to WP9. I am already one foot six feed under. I don't even know if I will be alive when WP9 launches. So to answer your question, I don't really care. I know that my 610 Mango phone cannot be upgraded to WP8. I am okay with it. I charge the phone once every three days! I don't use it to make calls or to receive calls. that's the use of the dumb phone.

Whatsapp, viber and line are not social media apps. They are communication apps. The apps are available. Though I believe whatsapp is more built into Android's contact.

Social media like facebook etc are built into the people hub. You will survive even if do not launch the facebook app. Your outlook/Hotmail, facebook contacts, calendar (birthdays etc) are built in to the People Hub. You can contact your fb friends via fb messenger, post on their walls directly from people hub.

Anyone can hasut me in venturing into WP8. Im attracted to the L1020. Watched alot of reviews but uncertain of the WP8 OS. Im currently using android.

WP8 devices will be upgradable to WP9. Theoretically.

Whether or not your hardware (i.e. spec) is supported will be a different issue. My palantir tells me that devices below certain hardware thresholds won't probably meet the grade but that would still depend on whether the next version of WP will be more bloated or not.

In any case, all WP8 devices should at least be hackable into WP9, constant crashes and memory run-out notwithstanding.

1. Notifications is done using live tiles but this is hit and miss since not all apps do it properly. Then there's the infamous delayed notifications. Notification center is rumoured to be in the work (and Microsoft responded in their request website, which usually means it's coming). They are probably trying to include it in WP 8.1 due early next year. Screenshot leak of WP 8.1 also suggests they're toying with ways to do notification center.

2. There's no file manager in-phone but you can manage your files directly on PC without any software.

How's WhatsApp performance on WP8 these days? Last time I remember notifications come late or kept repeating.

WhatsApp notifications are pretty stable these days after a succession of updates to the app.

I bought a Windows phone just for the design and the UI!

after latest update, whatsapp is very stable and no more notification delay...

my boss just bought lumia 625. he is a big guy and cannot use small phone. previously using 625. and he said he dont need all the craps in android

add to that;
Lumia 1020 will have data sense along with glance. next year we should have GDR3, with notification... then all will be sweeten up

windows 7/8 will auto detect your Lumia model not too sure about xp.

it is getting more and more stable by days. Updates being push pretty significantly lately. it is getting more mature.

After a day using Windows Phone, I am feeling mixed.

I just got Lumia 925 as birthday present from my wife. Feeling happier as it have all the apps I need, and dont lag like hell like my previous samsung galaxy s2

But... Lumia 1020 kind of shares the same spec with S2, only 2GB rams.

back to topic, recently whenever I go, I see quite a numbers of colourful phones when people are holding up to shoot photos. Believe me, these people aren't using Lumia phones (some are, I saw a lot of 720 & 920), they are using Asha phones.

spec are same, but OS are different.

My S2 updated to Android 4.1.2, and the battery life is not good at all after the update. It also overheat very fast if I use wifi/data/GPS.

Sorry but I'm curious. How did your wife got the idea of buying you a 925 for birthday gift?

she did tell me she want to buy Galaxy Note 2 at first, but she change to Lumia 925 last minute. Didnt know the true reason.

well, Android is power hungry thus need a lot of memory and processing power. Still lag regardless :haha:

lumia..... 2gb of ram is way more than enough. Silky smooth even with 512mb

When you load too many apps on Android, chances that you will get a Lagdroid. If it's well customized and optimized, it could be the best phone for you, which is suitable for tinkerers.

But being a tinkerer will constantly have to wait for ROM updates and trying out other customized ROMs, it's a never ending loop. Well, at least for heavy tinkerers, casual users won't bother.

WP8 has a lot to catchup but at the moment, the things are layout nicely and everything worked for me.

Well now Im more leaning towards casual user, no time to tinker2 with phone. So many other things to do than tinkering a phone hahaha

they bash so much on windows phone 8.
and say how good is IOS and android.

but they use windows OS on their computer or laptop.
and when mentioned about using Mac lion OS / linux...
they say its not user frenly......
