Hi!

I'm a comic artist by the nickname Puyuh and besides comic, I love toyz smile.gif and have been collecting them for quite some time. Since I am a comic artist, it comes natural for me to sculpt my own design n make my own toyz.
Here r some of the WIP for one of my sculptures which I made some time ago. Hope you enjoy the photos.

Hi gtasaboss,
Yeah, I do, as now I am doing quite a lot of toyz sculpting and you can find them in Lowyat'Storekini, under my section. I'll be constantly renewing my store with my latest handmade toyz,n all toyz are handmade, hand painted individually & autographed. Check them out biggrin.gif

You can pm me too for the toy detail.

N yes, I am Puyuh smile.gif

Usually it takes me 1week to finish, full time. I use a variety of clays, depending on the kind of effect I need.

Hey Fotosintesis,
In this line, you have just gotta stay ahead, aware of the market trend, keep pushing out good works, other wise, you risk being forgotten. But as long as the passion is there, should b icon_rolleyes.gif
I though of the nickname in Mandarin, n my Malay pal helped me translated that biggrin.gif

I have always been a toy collector since young, also a model kit collector. I guess it is from those years of toying with model kit that slowly injecting the idea of creating my own brand of toyz. Same thing with the sewing n stuff, coz I have to create costume for my 12"toyz.
I pick up my skill by googling, going to forums, surfing the nets for info. Same with my illustration/drawing skill, I am a self taught artist.

Continuation on my miniature furniture series:

The whole furniture I am using balsa wood, the reason for it is it is super easy to sand/cut. Designing the furniture is fun, but getting the calculation is a bit tedious and all the cutting n tightening up the screws sometimes drive me nut, since the size is so small n you really have to laser focus on that particular tiny screw! rclxub.gif

This is before coloring. Going to paint it and sculpt characters to complete this furniture set.

u should consider selling ur comic & toys to western audiences (if you haven't), i'm sure they appreciate your art style. they'd probably buy your toys too, if it's in 1/6 scale it'd sell even better.

i searched ebay and didn't manage to find a single item.

facebook won't get you enough exposure for overseas market, you need to post your work in those forums where people actually read & give comments. if they like it and price is right they will probably place order. that is how those small China indie companies doing right now by linking to their webpage. But you will need a simple paypal payment system.

then don't forget the China market, it's huge, there's a few Chinese collectible websites that indie companies promote their stuffs, but prepare for even more heavy criticism.

if you have confidence in your work and don't mind some occasional criticizing, it's a good start.

a hint would be 1/6 accessories/furnitures sells like hot cakes. you can even let users set up petitions for commission works once they gather enough buyers since you say you also do commissions.

since you guys can draw, can sculpt, can paint, can sew, can write stories, has access to China factories, you pretty much an all in one package, now all you need is more exposure to foreign market.

if you ever consider doing a Blade Runner 1/6, let me know!

Hi Advocado,

Thanks for your reply. Currently, I am promoting my works in FB mainly. I am definitly looking to expand our exposure, that's part of the reason I'm posting my works here. You mentioned bout the Chinese collectible websites, can you share some of the links ? Really appreciate your input n suggestions.

If anyone of you guys can share your suggestions, pls drop me a reply, very much appreciate it. Sometimes, I am too focus in my work that I might miss out other things.
Thank you!!

For the moment, I am pushing for limited copies, so that I am able to do all of them in house. I do all mold n cast myself, round 30 to 40 copies. This is the current limitation I have blush.gif so I guess it will do me good if I just chanel all my focus in making sure the products r as good as I have envisioned.
