QUOTE(hilmims @ Sep 1 2013, 11:58 PM) What do you mean "better"? Better can be in many areas, both objective and subjective. The exterior looks, the interior looks, space, performance, driving dynamics and handling, fuel consumption, features, resale, maintenance etc. Peugeot 407 is an old model. Yes, it has high maintenance. Typical of French cars, Almost double or higher than standard Japanese models depending on which part of the car that needs servicing/repair/replacement. That is the reason why most people dont' go for used French cars. Once a major part needs replacement, and you get to know the cost of the parts, be prepared to fork huge amount of money for the repair. People usually tend to sell "cold" cars as the cost of maintenance and repairs is damaging to the wallet. Thus going for new cars is always a better option with peace of mind, since the car is under warranty. 407's electronics are complicated. Any sort of repairs not claimed under warranty and you will feel the pain. Be warned. |

The 407 will be a more luxurious car to drive in terms of performance and comfort in the interior and plush leather seats, but I would recommend the Preve Turbo over the 407 in this case, if you are worried about maintenance. The 407's maintenance will be easily 3X more than Preve, and with a brand new Preve you will be assured of a problem-free car. Even if the warranty has ended for the Proton Preve, the maintenance will not be as high as the Peugeot.

QUOTE(hilmims @ Sep 2 2013, 04:33 PM) Thanks for update sir... Preve does have some driving dynamics of continental vehicles as it is Lotus-tuned, but at RM69k don't expect too much. I can say the Preve Turbo offers much value for money at below RM70k. My only caveat for this car is in the cheap fabric seat material and loud Turbo engine sound. Other than that, nothing much to complain. looks like i had scarified my dream due to financial constraint... Preve... hopefully got a 'conti' handling and comfort like pug... Not exactly the Peugeot but a friend of mine who owns the Alfa Romeo 147 Selespeed once sent in his car for fixing several times a year, and at one point of time the cost of repair was too much for him to bear(RM4000+ for some faulty parts), he given up. Sold the Alfa Romeo and bought a brand new Toyota Vios. Since that day I can remember he was praising the Vios so much, not because of the maintenance but the low fuel consumption. (His ALfa Romeo's FC is very high compared to Vios). But then again these two vehicles are in different classes and category, but you get what I mean. You get the wrong car, especially used continentals, once the car exhibits problems, you wont' be able to sleep well if you are not financially strong to get the car into tip-top condition. |

It will one day become a legend car. good FC, good RV, reliable, comfort, safety number one, handling good, fast, spare parts cheap, maintenance cheap, won't spoil one, powerful enough to put some GTi cars to shame, etc. Glad that your friend made the correct choice. Oh what a feeling, Toyota! |

Its really frustrated such a nice car (as for me ) like pug 407 very expensive maintenance.. i guess due to limited parts and perception the cost of maintenance high.. never mind.. life goes on... perhaps one day , i have a dream (martin luther king's speech |

Hmm....I own a 407 , maybe I'm qualify to comment . You will regret getting preve cos deep inside u wanted a 407 . Btw 407 is reliable if u are the sayang car type of ppl . Service I would say not expensive .U get to enjoy the luxurious ride n cabin quality , even after 7 yrs mine still looks new . Try park a 407 infront of coffee shop ,mamak shop , restaurant and will notice how many uncle ,auntie , lengzai lenglui notice you n ur car ......
