Tyre noobie here  notworthy.gif

whats the diffrence between 215/45/R17 and 215/45/ZR17?

planning to change to Michelin ps3 and i saw two types of size as above rclxub.gif

my current tyre size is 215/45/R17 with wheel size 17x7.0j

and btw, what will happen if i use 225/45/R17 tyre size?  unsure.gif

thanks.

The letter before the R indicates the rated max speed the tire can handle, Z being the highest (>300kph).

225/45 will be 1 cm wider and about 1 cm bigger diameter too (or your car will be 0.5cm higher ride height). Provided you use the same tire, it should give you slightly better grip and comfort, just a tad higher speed for the same rpm, at the expense of just a tad more fuel consumption.

Still can, minimum for 225/45 tires is 7' wide rim.
