Hi all,

I am currently using 12" subwoofer sealed box. As i am listening RnB more and the bass is not sufficient for me + less space (Hyundai Accent), i am thinking of getting a 10" tube subwoofer.

May i know anyone using tube subwoofer here and mind to advice me on the performance?

I am driving a Hyundai Accent.

u want punchy or boomy ?

i'm using a 8" Nos tube woofer from mohawk...
well.. it does the job well...

AFAIK, tube woofer tends to be boomy & bassy but less punchy...
meaning that tube woofer produce less punch...`, means not so power compared to boxed setup...

Hmm..from what i have here, i will prefer lesser punchy plus more boomy..

Err..sorry for the layman terms as i am not good in ICE ...BTW, if using 10" instead of 8", will the lunchy level increases?

How much u bought your tube subwoofer? Any link?

hehe.. 10" of course will be more powerful compared to 8" ..
hmm.. i bought mine at rm600 last year..
i don't have any link of it.... but here's the actual pic. though..

this one is priced based on it's looks...

Maybe your box problem!
The box should follow the woofer spec to make...!
and the hole also lo...The diameter affect the bass!

Yeah..i gree too but this time, i am preferring to take lesser space as i am ccarrying some items during travel

if u want space then i suggest u look at free air woofers and just mount them on the rear speakerboard.

IMHO, in terms of space, tube woofers will make a diff in space only if ur car is the kind that doesnt have a rear speakerboard coz then later u can stand them up if u need the space... but if ur car has a rear speakerboard then i would suggest getting a box instead. coz a tube would stretch the entire length of the boot and a box u can at least move it to one side if needed.

EDIT: saw the car ur driving... id saw get a tube...

as for performance wise.... i used to use a 10" rampage tube woofer to listen to metal in my old civic and it was quite punchy.....now me driving a kelisa with a 12" woofer (box) and its hell of a kick!

make ur box become a ported box....

tube sub = long and round mostly...take a long space..

box = square = take a shorter space(maybe,bigger sub, still can put things above it..if the box are ngam...how u gonna put things on a rounded tube?

So, you mean by getting a smaller (10" sub) with ported box?

and you don't recommend a free-air sub?

not many sub can do free-air
moreover it require a hard and solid sub board to hold ur sub and make sure no vibration and rattling

box is easier to do
as well as better tuning option
i nvr saw any tube sub woofer in IASCA and EMMA competition

erm..
if u wan rnb and u really like it, u will regret after getting free air..it's less punchy and as driftmeister said, u need to do some work on the panel inorder to hold the sub..and u need to seal ur boot properly to get a more solid bass....lastly, most good sub dun support free air..as i know
