Greeting to all,

I was shy away from ASx 2 years back due to my past experience in MBB.
=========================================================
My MBB experience end up in an infinite loop in the SOP.
I want to buy ASW/AS1M, the teller asked "Got acct?" I said "No.", she said "Open acct." I filled the form and go with the SOP.

Step 1: Open Acct - she say to complete this step need to have avail unit. I ask her to check. >> Go to Step 2.
Step 2: Check Avail Unit - she say to do this step need to have an acct. I have no acct, >> Go to Step 1.
doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif
=========================================================

Last week my friend told me about ASG, I went to read up at asnb website and of course the lyn.
I spent my weekend and finally finished all posts in this version...a good 105 pages! sweat.gif

I salute those die-hard soldiers that scalp RM100 by RM100 on ASW/AS1M/ASM. notworthy.gif sweat.gif
I wonder why there is no better way to do these top ups. Why not the internet...just like online stock trading? cool2.gif
Also surprise to read the forumer that able to topup 50k to 100k in a day for non-bumi quota... blink.gif
Thanks to all that contributed to this thread.

I know ASG are variable-price funds. But with the returns shown >10%, still a sound investment vehicle, I think.
May consider deploy some of my FD into ASG to take up their 2% promo.

A couple of quick questions:
Q1. Would I have higher chance to open new ASW/AS1M/ASM non-bumi acct in ASNB than agents?
Q2. Would ASNB and/or agents take personal/banker's cheque for top-up?

Hope to join you all in the ASx family soon. icon_rolleyes.gif

u know what, salute u for reading the WHOLE THREAD of 105 pages notworthy.gif  rclxms.gif  if I'm in your place, wont even read more than 10pages  sweat.gif

there's online "top-up" service for ASx fund, but currently "closed" for non-bumi because fund already sold-out doh.gif

about the 50k-100k "top-up" thing, she have someone "inside" to "help". if not u can't even get rm50 for non-bumi & mostly depend on units availability & some luck  cry.gif

for your questions, I think others forumer already answer it

Thanks for your replies. notworthy.gif
I like to read lyn posting, as it reflects reactions of general people on the street (or on the net). It give me a sense of the real situation as oppose to those official details from the official site or ads. thumbup.gif
Of course I can't rule out the possibilities of non-genuine postings. That's why reading more posting through the whole thread will kinda verify or have more justification on the details. wink.gif

Why close the online facility when fund is sold-out? doh.gif
Why not just let it flow with the market? As soon as ppl throw their holdings, others can top-up online! Relief the frustration from those behind the counters and also the investors! This will improve productivity and efficiency as a whole. flex.gif

Just to share my first visit to ASNB counter at PNB before CNY.

I filled 3 acct opening forms aiming to open anyone of ASW, AS1M or ASM.
Waited 45min for my number to be served.
The teller said only accept cash (no cash cheque as some mentioned here). hmm.gif
She said they have to process new acct opening even without knowing if there is any available units.
A moment later she shown me 3 new passbooks but told me no available units and she had to destroy all the 3 books. shocking.gif cry.gif
Looking at those to-be-destroyed passbooks with my name printed, I was so disappointed and left with empty handed and gone for lunch.

After lunch I recoup my hope and went back to try my luck once more before heading home.
I took another number, when my number was called, I landed with the same teller. sweat.gif
(Oh man... what is the chances of this happening with 6, 7 counters actively servicing?)
She glared at me and said calmly that I can't retry on the same day, the system will clear my details only at night.
I ended up opening ASG with the 2% SC offer. (I won't top up after this offer is over.)
And she was kind enough to help check again if any available unit for ASW/AS1M/ASM. Again failed. Fated. doh.gif
She said to open new acct, must minimally have 10k units before can place 100 units to new book. Not sure how true is that or some other unknown/hidden factors barring my account opening. hmm.gif

Seeing the challenge to open new acct and further challenges to top up, I am putting my money elsewhere.
Spending time on other higher yielding instruments that work for me.
Oh ya, forgot to mention, I got a free nice laptop backpack from ASNB. thumbup.gif

They gave backpack for those who open new ASG?

Am looking into PMA by Philip Capital. Annualized roi of 12.5% for the past 6 years. (Cumulative roi 103%).
I guess some UT also giving similar results over the past 5-10 years.
May try the mini-PMA first. Even higher annualized roi. drool.gif But as always, higher return, higher risk.

Re the backpack, I guess so, I din asked. Unless she kesian me lah... tongue.gif

Not bad u got "something" from ASNB. I didn't get any "gift" even I invested in their ASx funds for years  sad.gif

Yes, that's what I was told, but not sure why they want to make acct opening even tougher. mad.gif
Ok lah, at least worth my trip.

I'm not sure. I din asked them, but I presume the same rule for bumi and non-bumi.
Basically, the point here is : open acct is harder than top-up.

I did not succeed to open non-bumi non-ASG acct. You need to try your luck.
From my experience, to open such new acct, at least you get entertained in ASNB office than the agents.
I gave up. Exploring other opportunities instead. All the best to you. smile.gif

Got one forummer try before CNY, he managed to "open" the account but the passbook needed to be "destroy" because no available units are available that time  sad.gif  I think he try at ASNB HQ  hmm.gif
Ya, I read that one. Shocked that is their procedure in opening new non bumi account. What a waste of effort and paper.

Any one who successfully opened one non bumi ASX in the last 2 years?
*

Yeap, that was me. According to the ASNB teller, they have to process acct opening request. But there is no guarantee it will be successful, all depend on the available units, min must have 10k available at that time, before it is consider successful. (Don't think the agents bother to entertain such request.)
For my case, they actually printed 3 passbooks (1 each for ASM, AS1M and ASW) and get them destroyed at the end.
It was quite a heart-aching experience. cry.gif

Anyway, guess it is not for me...will focus my time on other investment instruments.
I did get ASG at the end of the visit. So far performance has been quite good. Will report back in a month time. nod.gif

Fruits for thought:
1. PCI from SCB - min 50k, roi for reference: 7-15%.
-I am in this since 2008

2. PMA from Philip capital - min 50k, roi for reference: 12-21%.
-I should start on this soon

3. Property from Freemen - min 0k, roi for reference: infinity (??)
-cause their model is no money down, 0 capital, ROI=Profits/Capital*100%=infinity rclxub.gif
-I pass on this as no prior experience on property

You have any "leads" for sharing? notworthy.gif

SCB = Std Chartered Bank?

Really at 7-15%? I am surprised/shocked. Why? I had one investment with Std CB and the return was lower than FD for many years! I have terminated that one some years ago.

Interesting feedback. Thanks.

Check the PCI link as posted above.
Which investment that u terminated? Was it PCI?

Yes, that's the one. It is a rather interesting and powerful investment instrument. My favourite when sharing with my investment buddies.

When I started back in 2008, this clause was not there.
They may have tighten the entry rules.
If you are interested can always talk to them.
Check out the example in the link u posted. It is really unique with the "guaranteed" yield.
Name any other investment instruments that give guaranteed returns (besides FD, CASA).
Not even EPF, ASx; mostly projected and pass performance references.
And there are more besides the guaranteed yield...

Thanks for the wonderful thread. Have a few questions to ask the sifus here. notworthy.gif

Planning on opening ASG-persaraan. The dividend rate is around 7.3%.

1)  However, the return will be lower right? The return will only be 7.3%-annual management fee 1.5% -annual trust fee 0.07%=5.73%?

2) Understand that its variable pricing for this UT. However, I can't seem to find the price for 1 unit of this. Can anyone provide the link. Don't want to buy when the Unit trust price is high.

3a) Is the annual management fee and annual trust fee deducted immediately when we first opened the account of after 1 year later?

3b) For the 2nd year, are these fees deducted at the end of the year or beginning of the year? Are they deducted at the end of December (calendar year end) or March (financial year end)?

3c) Are the fees based on the $ amount at the end of a certain period? If so, can always adjust the $ amount to reduce it before the fees and increase it before dividend payout.

Thanks for the help

I am no sifu, but would like to share my understandings... All sifu here, do correct me if I my understanding is wrong. icon_rolleyes.gif
1) The 7.3 is the Net Distribution per unit (sen). For variable price fund, we should look at the returns, in this case it is 10.67% for 2013. This returns is net after all charges. Refer to this link.
2) Refer HERE for their daily prices.
3) My understanding is the mgmt fee are charged and taken into account during distribution calculation. Normally lower unit price after distribution.

Thanks tbheng, wil-i-am and davinz18.  notworthy.gif Today went to open ASG persaraan and kesihatan. The unit price is so high, really 'rugi'. rclxub.gif  sweat.gif  Hopefully, the price will go higher and I don't lose out. The lady said that the dividend will be in early  April. Got a free bag.

For information, tried to open AS1M and ASM accounts, but none will let me open. Say no units
*
Where did you go? ASNB HQ or agents?
They didn't event process your request or they actually process and inform no available units?
It is a laptop backpack, right? thumbup.gif
I'll report back after 1 month of my ASG holdings. ASG-Kesihatan seems outperform the other 2 siblings. tongue.gif
