Since the day the petrol price increase, you would see the news talking about 'Ministry will ensure inflation will not happen', 'Food price will be monitored', etc.. it seems to me more like to bluff.. Its a simple mathematics that they think we dont know.. An increase will petrol will definitely increase the cost of living as food prices, and other household products due to higher logistics cost..

Now they will not increase the price, but next month, i believe those prices of the foods and household products will increase..

Say want to control inflation, but they are doing the opposite..

but one thing is certain, OPR will increase by 0.10 - 0.15% and so will BLR

Just to share my first visit to ASNB counter at PNB before CNY.

I filled 3 acct opening forms aiming to open anyone of ASW, AS1M or ASM.
Waited 45min for my number to be served.
The teller said only accept cash (no cash cheque as some mentioned here). 
She said they have to process new acct opening even without knowing if there is any available units.
A moment later she shown me 3 new passbooks but told me no available units and she had to destroy all the 3 books.   
Looking at those to-be-destroyed passbooks with my name printed, I was so disappointed and left with empty handed and gone for lunch.

After lunch I recoup my hope and went back to try my luck once more before heading home.
I took another number, when my number was called, I landed with the same teller. 
(Oh man... what is the chances of this happening with 6, 7 counters actively servicing?)
She glared at me and said calmly that I can't retry on the same day, the system will clear my details only at night.
I ended up opening ASG with the 2% SC offer. (I won't top up after this offer is over.)
And she was kind enough to help check again if any available unit for ASW/AS1M/ASM. Again failed. Fated. 
She said to open new acct, must minimally have 10k units before can place 100 units to new book. Not sure how true is that or some other unknown/hidden factors barring my account opening. 

Seeing the challenge to open new acct and further challenges to top up, I am putting my money elsewhere.
Spending time on other higher yielding instruments that work for me.
Oh ya, forgot to mention, I got a free nice laptop backpack from ASNB. 

I'm not sure. I din asked them, but I presume the same rule for bumi and non-bumi.
Basically, the point here is : open acct is harder than top-up.

I did not succeed to open non-bumi non-ASG acct. You need to try your luck.
From my experience, to open such new acct, at least you get entertained in ASNB office than the agents.
I gave up. Exploring other opportunities instead. All the best to you.
