Was not successful yesterday at RHB. The gent checked my AS1M and after a few mins said tak ada. But when I passed to him my other 2 books (ASM & ASW2020), he said he would leave the counter in a few minutes.

Was going to ask him why no as he could still continue with mine while the next in-coming counter clerk can handle the next customer. Decided not to "argue" and left.

RHB is now in my "bad" list for ASX. Happy with CIMB.

I take it then if 10 people sell RM500 each at 900 am (total RM5000), I will not be successful if I put in RM5000, or RM2000 or RM1000, right?

If no to all the above, why? It is as if it is selling from seller A to buyer B (#1) , the amounts must match, and not seller A to ASNB and then ASNB to buyer B (#2).

If it is #2, then ASNB will accumulate the "sellings" and buyers can buy whatever ASNB has accumulated.

#2 can be good and bad. Good for big buyers like you who will sapu whatever ASNB has accumulated and bad for small ants like me with nothing left. Ha.

As for ASB you get dividend every january. The divident of course is pro rated, let say you put 100k for 6 months, you will get half of the yearly dividend on that 100K.

frankly speaking it is stupid to keep money in ASNB

Yes, last last year i put FD at bank rakyat for 4.11% one year.. this ASW comes with 6.7%.. it's around more ~2.59% per year

based on historical ASB dividend rate posted by forumer here, there's seem to be indication the dividend would drop in coming years until the next GE

Just to share my first visit to ASNB counter at PNB before CNY.

I filled 3 acct opening forms aiming to open anyone of ASW, AS1M or ASM.
Waited 45min for my number to be served.
The teller said only accept cash (no cash cheque as some mentioned here). 
She said they have to process new acct opening even without knowing if there is any available units.
A moment later she shown me 3 new passbooks but told me no available units and she had to destroy all the 3 books.   
Looking at those to-be-destroyed passbooks with my name printed, I was so disappointed and left with empty handed and gone for lunch.

After lunch I recoup my hope and went back to try my luck once more before heading home.
I took another number, when my number was called, I landed with the same teller. 
(Oh man... what is the chances of this happening with 6, 7 counters actively servicing?)
She glared at me and said calmly that I can't retry on the same day, the system will clear my details only at night.
I ended up opening ASG with the 2% SC offer. (I won't top up after this offer is over.)
And she was kind enough to help check again if any available unit for ASW/AS1M/ASM. Again failed. Fated. 
She said to open new acct, must minimally have 10k units before can place 100 units to new book. Not sure how true is that or some other unknown/hidden factors barring my account opening. 

Seeing the challenge to open new acct and further challenges to top up, I am putting my money elsewhere.
Spending time on other higher yielding instruments that work for me.
Oh ya, forgot to mention, I got a free nice laptop backpack from ASNB. 

lls119 just to add some information. those fixed price funds are "sold-out" for non-bumi, if u bumi then u can invest in ASB, ASW2020 & AS1M. The fund are still available.

and yes u can "open" in Maybank, not forgetting CIMB, RHB, Pos Malaysia & ASNB branch

Am looking into PMA by Philip Capital. Annualized roi of 12.5% for the past 6 years. (Cumulative roi 103%).
I guess some UT also giving similar results over the past 5-10 years.
May try the mini-PMA first. Even higher annualized roi.    But as always, higher return, higher risk.
