Got one forummer try before CNY, he managed to "open" the account but the passbook needed to be "destroy" because no available units are available that time  sad.gif  I think he try at ASNB HQ  hmm.gif

Ya, I read that one. Shocked that is their procedure in opening new non bumi account. What a waste of effort and paper.

Any one who successfully opened one non bumi ASX in the last 2 years?

Yeap, that was me. According to the ASNB teller, they have to process acct opening request. But there is no guarantee it will be successful, all depend on the available units, min must have 10k available at that time, before it is consider successful. (Don't think the agents bother to entertain such request.)
For my case, they actually printed 3 passbooks (1 each for ASM, AS1M and ASW) and get them destroyed at the end.
It was quite a heart-aching experience. cry.gif

Anyway, guess it is not for me...will focus my time on other investment instruments.
I did get ASG at the end of the visit. So far performance has been quite good. Will report back in a month time. nod.gif

yea such a wastage only doh.gif not forgetting the mental & emo "stress" just looking the newly printed with your name passbook going to be "destroy" by the staff sad.gif

anyway, I didn't hear or know anyone that managed to "open" ASx past few years. Year 2010 got some managed to "open" AS1M even after the units sold-out. The staff willing to "try" because they say It's still new fund, got some "left-overs" units left. after the 1st divvy announcement also some managed to "open" AS1M nod.gif

Fruits for thought:
1. PCI from SCB - min 50k, roi for reference: 7-15%.
-I am in this since 2008

2. PMA from Philip capital - min 50k, roi for reference: 12-21%.
-I should start on this soon

3. Property from Freemen - min 0k, roi for reference: infinity (??)
-cause their model is no money down, 0 capital, ROI=Profits/Capital*100%=infinity rclxub.gif
-I pass on this as no prior experience on property

You have any "leads" for sharing? notworthy.gif

SCB = Std Chartered Bank?

Really at 7-15%? I am surprised/shocked. Why? I had one investment with Std CB and the return was lower than FD for many years! I have terminated that one some years ago.

Interesting feedback. Thanks.

When I started back in 2008, this clause was not there.
They may have tighten the entry rules.
If you are interested can always talk to them.
Check out the example in the link u posted. It is really unique with the "guaranteed" yield.
Name any other investment instruments that give guaranteed returns (besides FD, CASA).
Not even EPF, ASx; mostly projected and pass performance references.
And there are more besides the guaranteed yield...
