hi.......next wednesday is my first day working as internship in my boss company, I will need to take some forms to sign by my boss, and to take back to my college for the administrator to approve and stamp it. The problem is, that day is the first day I join to that company, can I just tell my boss that I wish to leave for half day for submit the form to my college? Or should I wait a few more days then do this job? I am afraid that I will leave a bad impression to my boss as that day is my first day working day, how come suddenly disappear for half day punya? anyone have better idea to deal with this situation, pls help me pls...

p/s: one more tiny question, is it suitable for me to wear black shirt black pant as the first day working in that company? smile.gif somebody pls give me some opinion thx

why don't you go to your college no monday or even tuesday?
the acceptable formal office wear is light colored shirt and dark pants for men.

firstly congratulations on your first job.
secondly, most of the "bosses" are well understanding especially if the matter to attend to appears to be of an urgent matter. However, there are some cases...where they might question you back. Some will ask you whether you can go deal with you matter on another non-working day. Some will tell you that you can take few hours off earlier say after work.

But on the bright side, don't worry...most will just say "Ok, go ahead". They will definitely ask why and you will just need to be confident and talk professionally with them. Don't be afraid and just speak up loud and clear.

About black shirt or what so ever, for as long as you wear something decent that's good enough. It doesn't matter what you wear, but in some cases...some company don't really like it if you wear all black. It doesn't really matters anyway, for as long as you look neat and smart.

So in conclusion, it's all depends on the mood of your boss/your company's policy etc. It varies from one company to another.

<Edit>
However, if I were you, i would really like to wear more vibrant color instead of all black to give a nice and happy harmony look rclxm9.gif, and you do know when you start working on your first day, lots of words can just spread out.

i also doing internship now.. on my first day, i applied for leave for the next day(my 2nd day work), because i want to send my father to KLIA.. i told my boss about the leave after he finish briefing me about the job, and he straight away approve it.. but he remind me, i need to have 75% attendance if i want him to pass my internship..

so, just try your luck.. mostly, boss wont be too strict to intern workers..

about attire, as long you dont broke the company law, then it is okay..

About getting the school/college chop, cant it wait till the weekends? I am sure most colleges are open during weekends right? Is your college strict about this issue? Meaning as soon as you clock in on the 1st day of internship u have to report back to them?

About the black colour it is a controversial/non-confirming colour. Why create such an impression on the 1st day? To some wearing all black is cool, but if the boss is sensitive he might be thinking that you are treating his company like a funeral. Anyway bottom line, why create controversy on your first job?

I think the best way is to fax it to your college.
By right what you wear is up to you unless it's stated in the company policy that you cannot wear all black on the first day of work.
However, if you are unsure whether you boss will be offended ... you can be more defensive ... wear some other shirt ... don't tell me you only have one set of shirt and pants???

I think it's time you learn to think and make your own decision.

IMHO, people that wear all black in Malaysian kind of weather are stupid and never study high school physic. And, that is my personal opinion. Ditto on people that drive black car.
