I think they dont need it if they didnt destroy your furniture. This is the natural way they trim the claw, so avoid using this claw 'gloves'. If the cat destroy the furniture then maybe u need to use other method such as giving the cat a scratching post. That's a better solution.

Just get a cat scratching post and a nail clipper for cats. I think the cats will hate wearing soft paws coz they love to trim their claws by scratching. Also, clawing on stuff is a sign of marking its territory. Better just trim your kitty's claws and buy a nice big scratching post heheheh

Ohh I see... Ok thanks for the advice! Cuz his claws are pretty sharp my bf and I both got scratches all over. But the prob are the chairs cuz he really likes to scratch on them. Is there any brands or advice on what scratching post to buy?

hi there.. i use the scratching thingy that's round and comes with a ball that can roll around it and a fluffy toy thingy..okay u prob dun understand me but u can get it from pets wonderland or ikano's pet safari.. laugh.gif

but u hafta trim the nails urself..just use a normal nail clipper..the trim the claws..and make sure u trim jus a lil so that it won't get the quick/red red part of the nail that will bleed.. tongue.gif

go here to read up on how to trim ur cat's claws

good luck!

edit: oh and here's some notes i found on paws.org:
Why do cats scratch..
* To remove the dead outer layer of their claws.
* To mark their territory by leaving both a visual mark and a scent - they have scent
glands on their paws.
* To stretch their bodies and flex their feet and claws.
* To work off energy.

sorry.edit again.. biggrin.gif
here's wat the scratching toy looks like..all my cats love it. smile.gif

other than buying a scratchpad/post, if u got those carpet with zigzag stitches on the bottom... u can make those as the cat's scratchpad. the main problem would b training ur cat to use a scratchpad/post.

ohohoho I bought the scratch pad that heidityj recommended!
my kitten loves it XD
but he like sto play with the ball more than to scratch on the pad >_<
and he's lured to the pad because of cat nip but I scared it'll be bad for him in a long run... sigh
