I bought HL Marigold Low Fat milk because I'm poor and can't afford other more premium brands such as Dutch Lady and GoodDay and Farm Fresh.

It's sweeter than the other brands.

At first I thought it might be bad milk, so I gave it to my friend(cuz, *******, dats why).

The 2nd time I bought, same taste.

Anyone noticed?

i found this on HL milk website:

Why does MARIGOLD HL Milk taste sweet?
MARIGOLD HL milk is a low lactose milk. This means that it has been specially processed to breakdown part of the lactose to simple sugars such as glucose and galactose. Glucose and galactose taste sweeter than lactose but there is absolutely no extra calories

Once I bought an HL Choc milk frm a hypermart in Putrajaya, it tasted bad even though the expiry date is still a couple of weeks away. I called the number on the box, but a machine answered my call. Lodged a complain to the machine. The next day a rep from HL called & asked me some questions & whether I still have the milk. & then she asked me what flavor would I like for my replacement milk. In the afternoon the rep came & gave me 2 cartons of milk to replace the bad one I bought, she called beforehand to tell me they if it's okay if they gave me the original flavor instead of choc. She then took the bad carton & inspected it & told me some of this hypermarts store these milk inappropriately, like put them under the sun while waiting to be transferred into the hypermart's storage, which would've spoilt the milk. She thanked me for my report & took the milk back for further tests.

That was the first time I lodged a complaint with a food manufacturer & I must say I was impressed. I've been drinking HL milk for quite sometime now... in fact, I've never tried other brands & I didn't even know it was a cheapo brand. All tht matters to me is the content. Kudos to Marigold rclxms.gif thumbup.gif

I always drink Marigold HL Milk (chocolate since I don't like plain milk), never have a problem with it. Thing is, it doesn't taste as good as the other brands (whereby I feel the chocolate taste is thicker) 'coz it felt diluted. But it's low fat milk, much better than the rest so I just continue to take it. After awhile I got used to the taste. Btw no, I don't think it tastes sweeter than the other brands. You can compare the sugar content in the label with other brands.

I like the chocolate one (cos I also don't like plain milk in general - I usually just add chocolate or what if that's the only option), because it tastes more chocolatey than Dutch Lady or Gooday.

It's so sweet that if you try to cook it with (eg., for scrambled eggs), they just taste really weird.

I simply love milk smile.gif

Used to buy more expensive brands until I started culturing kefir. They gave thicker curds so I switched to Dutch Lady. Been drinking this for the past few years.

I've always felt that HL milk had that extra something other fresh milk brands didn't. All this while I always blamed it on preservatives. Now I know...
