What is Final Fantasy XIV : A Realm Reborn?

Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn is the "re-launch" version of the September 2010 Launched MMORPG, which was an uber and epic failure of a MMORPG. Despite being known as the worst launched MMORPG, they have admitted at fault, apologize and reshuffle the Development Team, with a brand new Director, Naoki Yoshida or known as Yoshi-P. Thus the first Final Fantasy XIV is reknown as Version 1.x. During his duration of overseeing and responsible to fix the mess that the old Development Team produce, SquareEnix CEO Yoichi Wada (Now former CEO) announce that the game will be free till it is fixed. So it begun the day where true fans of the game sticking to the game like glue and await the miracle patch that we thought it will come. The change to the game begin to see some significant enjoyment up to patch 1.21 where they announce that they are reinstating the Pay 2 Play for a the period of time, also announce... the version 2.0, where the whole game is being rebuild and was said to have already begun prior to patch 1.16. Meaning that they were doing Parallel Development where there not only keep updating the 1.X servers with Contents but also secretly building a whole new client, new engine behind our backs! The best thing about it that we are able to see the change that were made in 1.0, the storyline that lead to the epic ending of the server shutting down. And long story short. Here we are now.. entering the new age of A Realm Reborn.

Now that we are here nearing the Launch, early access which is starting @ 24th August 5pm. The game has come a long way to make it what was right since 2010. Of all the time of marketing and showing demo during E3, TGS, Gamescom, the game have been given said to be the most promising MMORPG. There is no Marketing Hype by Square Enix, just pure showing off game play instead of talking.

This game have shown the Media Coverage the Gameplay instead of Marketing craps that most Westerns MMORPGs tends to do.

So here I say that if you have a friend playing it, try it out from him, or wait for Trial Accounts which is being talked about from Square Enix in near future to try.

On another account, is like old school MMORPG, tab targeting, but with Final Fantasy touch.

to be honest my first impression after playing the beta , it is just your typical MMO with chores like quest nothing new .

Regardless I've already pre-ordered and going to play the EA tmrw. If you like WOW then you will like this game.

oh ya good thing is you can use controller such as xbox for pc biggrin.gif

^ this is quite true, because there wasn't any real HYPE, Square Enix never hype their game too much, not in other country atleast, thou they did do it in E3, Gamescom, TGS, and also their Japan have cool Eorzea Mirror! search youtube about Eorzea Mirror xD

Yeah i think that would be a good idea.

While you wait you can do like what i did and lurk around on updates and have a look at gameplays. A good plus is that the FF elements make you feel more at home and less likely to quit so soon if you grew up with it. I would also suggest reading the story especially to the part on how the 1.0 was ending to start of ARR. wink.gif

Around RM37 if you register an account under UK region and paying GBP. Despite the exchange rates it's cheaper compared to USD for now.

false.

There will be two type of Tier Payment.

Because of the Uniqueness of only needing 1 character and can change Class anytime by just unlocking the class and swap as easy as just equipping the weapon. You wont need many Alts. unless you're a Altholic.

The Entry Levels allows you to create 1 Character in 1 Server. 1 Account of Entry Level access, can make up to 8 characters.

Entry Levels is around 7.69 GBP / 10.99 EUR / 12.99 USD

The Standard Level allows you to create 8 Characters in 1 Server. 1 Account of Standard Level access, can make up to 40 Characters.

Standard Level comes with 3 Tiers payments.
£8.99 / 12.99 € / 14.99 USD - 30 days/month
£8.39 / 11.99 € / 13.99 USD x 3 month - 90 days (£25.17 / 35.97 € / 41.97$) (Save £1.80 / 3.00 € / 3.00$ )
£7.69 / 10.99 € / 12.99 USD x 6 month - 180 days (£46.14 / 65.94 € / 77.94$) (Save £7.80 / 12.00 € / 12.00$ )

really i dont see the point of similar to terra. if you wan to it similar to terra then should continue on terra imho. final fantasy is mostly all about the fans understanding the series and having their fav summons or monster (malboro, tonberry etc) appear in mmo. In battle system wise, is more like a generic MMO should have but i would say is unique on its own

I think what graphidz tried to say bout the system is the action (inurface) combat...i personally dint like the action thingy coz it sometimes is just annoying ie.everybody rolling around kinda messy, pvp wise - ranged ftw smile.gif

regarding battle system. I would definitely prefer the old style MMORPG, tab targeting than free-targeting action way of Tera, Tera combat is fun, but tiring as hell. i prefer this way. more relaxing. ^^" Still engaging but it give me chance to use my hand to drink while fighting.. ><

If uve played wow/rift/gw2 then its pretty much the same thing. But this is the final fantasy universe. If ur a fan of the series then this would pretty much seal the deal for u as it did for me. tongue.gif

Otherwise its just ur regular mmo. Nothing really new or groundbreaking going on here.

I think for me atthe very least it the Primal Summoning System, but that wont be ready for launch as it will be down the road, not sure when, but is very interesting.

Is not the usual where you will need Summoner to summon the primal. In X|V instead, is your FC who will be summoning, or group summoning a Primal into Eorzea. And it will be huge, weather change in that zone that is summon, etc.

Is very interesting down the road if it ever get implemented.

I forgot where I've watched Yoshida saying that but it's well worth noting that if you target a monster there will be an arrow tip as an indication showing where the monster is facing. If you try to avoid that arrow often you can avoid dmg taken. It will come out as 'Evade' or smtg. I've tried before.

there are AOE indicator that will appear in a red circle/cone/line on the ground that you can evade.

oh wow, so it was like some dodge mechanic in this game too. if its true then nice, i notice too when using plg, keep trying to hit from behind target, i take lesser damage rather just stand there facing the mob, somemore can kill mob fast too.

That i know. Other than that you can still evade normal attacks just by moving away from tht arrow. Like going behind the monster. It's in one of the producer's letter but I can't find it where is it.

tbh I way more prefer the REALLY old school one- PS1's turn based.
developers these days just don't want to take risk making that kind of MMO sub genre zzz.

Actually there IS an arrow that indicates the monster's facing which direction.
Below monster, on the ground, there's a red ring.
This red ring will have an arrow pointing outwards, and that arrow is the direction the monster is facing.
One of my character is a lancer, and I use that arrow to judge if I am beside or behind a monster to use proper skill.
While majority of the monster is easy to know where's the head, I encountered some plant-like monster with tentacles and I can't tell where's the head, and can only rely on that red arrow on the ground.
