The ugly truth lifting is a vanity endeavor (u though it's a sport?) . Most lifters r eyeing the next guy and trying to b the baddest guy in the gym.
Notice the mirrors and how most lifters r admiring themselves, even the skinnies r working out in compressions shirts.
Btw i consider myself a lifter oso although I don't have big guns

I always have been either skinny or fat with no muscle structure. I wanna change that and have the confidence to be shirtless on the beach. I've never thought of it as a sport, more towards science for me. Learning about nutrition needs and how muscles were built, all them science.

And one thing for sure, I'm definitely not trying to be the baddest guy in the gym (whatever the hell this means).

If u r interested in nutrition and science go to a lab. Ppl go to the gym to enhance their esoteric and aesthetic

If u want to be strong then  clean and jerk r more effective then military press, lunges instead of squat.

U mean u don't secretly compare your physic favorably to the guy next to u? U don't harbour the goal to b the biggest guy in the gym (minus the local pro)

Just my 2c and trying to b real

I see it with a different approach, more towards science. Doesn't mean that I'm interested in wearing a lab coat. People like cars so you ask them to be a mechanic? What if those people just like driving one? Don't be too narrow minded.

I don't really compare myself with others. At most, I would just ask them for advices. I could workout at home if I have the luxury of space, I don't join a gym just to show others how I workout. I certainly don't aim to be the biggest in the gym, I'm just trying to improve how I live and for once have the confidence to take off my shirt without shame (yes, I've have this issue all the time). Everyone have different goals.

I know what you said is true for some, but since you asked me specifically, I'm just voicing my goals.
