Reporting in the Z1 thread for further updates.

This time round I wasn't anticipating for the new Note, in fact this Sony seeked my attention.

The moment when someone is able to root the Honami, most likely I will say bye bye to my Note 2s

Hmm, how come? what makes you fall in love with z1 but not note 3?
Note 3 features are quite impressive tbh.

I was comparing both phones with my current Note 2s.

What I liked on the Note 3 over my Note 2:

Higher PPI
Slimmer, Lighter, Faster
Brighter screen

What I deemed unnecessary:
4k video

What I am doubting:
Can the battery life trump my current Note 2 with the 100mAH extra juice.
Will the dev community will be as large as the N7100 (N7105 is pathetic), if possible like the S/S2/S3/S4

What I liked on the Z1 over my Note 2:
Shutter button
1/2.3" CMOS sensor vs 1/3.2" CMOS censor
Awesome screen (as proved by the XZU)

What I am doubting:
Can the battery life trump my current Note 2 with the 100mAH extra juice.
Will the dev community will be as large as the N7100 (N7105 is pathetic), if possible like the S/S2/S3/S4
If no one is able to root this device, I will refrain from buying it.

adding on to my post:

Note 3: 60fps at 1080p
3GB of RAM, how to fully utilise?

As for note 3, I think the battery life will definitely be better than note 2. If note 3 carries on the greatness of note2, I dont see why there won't be a large dev community for it.

Anyway, as for sony. It will definitely be root-able. Battery life i dare not say, have to wait for reviewers, but sony do have the stamina mode which will preserve battery. If you are not using the phone, your battery will hardly drop.
As for the dev community, I always notice that samsung community will be bigger due to more samsungs sold compare to sony. So there will be more choices on samsung than sony i think( for roms, kernels etc).

Also, I've noticed that from the forum of xperia z/htc one/s4 in xda, htc one have the most active thread followed by s4 and xperia z is the smallest one.

Another thing, don't you miss the ability to swap batteries on samsungs? You can't do that on sony.tongue.gif

I don't have a habit of using spare batteries smile.gif.

Z1 smaller,higher mp camera,prettier

Note 3 bigger,New SPEN,3GB Ram

But honestly, I didn't see any different of 2gb and 3gb. I will go for Z1 or bigger Xperia Z Ultra

XZU lacked flash, didn't got it because of this reason.

Well, the more the better i guess. More future proof. tongue.gif
Also, with that much features in touchwiz and the ability for multitasking will be needed heavily, 3gb ram is needed i think.
Yea, I notice a thread in xperia z xda forum where the guy undervolted his proccessor as well as some tweaks and got 6 hours of sot. which is quite impressive. smile.gif

So maybe can undervolt to save juice?
*
Xperia Z with the battery life performing similar as the S3, 6 hours is quite impressive. Undervolting does not reduce battery consumption significantly, however the phone will run cooler, since Lithium batteries are afraid of heat, therefore it might last longer. This is based on my experience and my understanding, do not take it as professional advice tongue.gif

S3 on ARHD + Perseus kernel, undervolted, underclocked to 600MHz, WiFi mode, lowest screen brightness already getting 6 hours on a single charge.

Doesn't rooting any of the current Sony phones cause a loss of the TA partition and therefore loss of the Bravia Engine and X-reality? They ask you to root by handing them your IMEI and tracking that you're rooted therefore out of warranty....

I could be wrong.......was it the bootloader.... but rooting a Sony seems to have more steps to avoid messing things up than a Samsung.

Rooting a S3/Note 2 generation Samsung only takes 30 seconds

That was the bootloader.Once unlocked, you will lose bravia engine. And yes, root can be quite tedious at times.
He's the TS from note thread, he should know that best. tongue.gif

Yep, he does know his stuff pretty well.
