i came across a video comparison between z1 and z, the launching app speed. when compare side by side, feels like z is a laggy device. z need 1 second after your finger is released from screen to respond, where as z1 responded immediately right after ur finger is released from the screen.

this is to be expected. Optical Image Stabilizer makes a lot of differences, a fact that hardcore Sony fanboys (not saying anyone in this forum, but what I see from other Sony forums) will not admit it.

Even if it has OIS, I still wouldn't think it will beat Lumia 1020. Look at this Cyber-Shot TX1 photo sample.

It's mile ahead from Sony's Exmor R, BIONZ, whatever fancy name they want to give to their sensor and image processor.


I follow Honami's leak constantly, but I still never put hope in the camera department no matter what the fanboys say. Just stick to reality. Having Cyber-shot department handling the camera on Xperias will not automatic make Sony's camera better if that's the best they can give to their real compact camera.


And about the "best in overall department phone" that Sony fanboys said? No. Battery life, uncheck. Latent time, uncheck. No visible lag, uncheck. Premium material, check. Cool design - check.

I still choose Sony because design is more important for me. But I don't want to be in delusion that Sony is best in everything.

Hope no one bash me because I said negative things about Sony haha.

can't wait for GSM Arena's battery test!

CNET UK has tested the battery life on video playback to be 6 hours 45 minutes. Hardwarezone rated it "close to six hours" at 100% screen brightness.

However, I hope the web browsing test will come out good!
Xperia SP, 2300 mAh, 720p - 6 hours 18 minutes
Xperia ZR, 2300 mAh, 720p - 11 hours 20 minutes.

I hope Sony brought the magic from ZR over to Z1 lol.

I think they only compare the video playback time and say not good lo. Galaxy S4 Octacore - 11.5 hours, HTC One - 10 hours, LG G2 - 12 hours, so of course 6 hours is below average.

But battery life on web browsing time isn't always proportionate to video playback time, as GSM Arena proved it.

For me, stamina mode is useful but still useless if on screen time poor. It has to be balanced. no point having on screen time for 10 hours when in your standby mode, it only last 12 hours. And no point having standby mode that last 48 hours, when on screen time only last 4 hours.

why want compare compare lol. just get a phone that suits ur need the most. or if you have a lot of money to burn and have no idea how to invest or pantang see extra money in your bank account, then buy both haha.

but if still want Sony Xperia and a XL phone, but think Z Ultra is too big, then maybe can wait for Sony to do a 5.5" phone.

p/s; i think it's okay to compare if you're deciding which phone worth your money.

Maybe April 2014, 5.2" only, according to randomuser, the one who leaked Z and Z1. He's in Esato forum, you can google "esato xperia 2013" and you will come across an xperia 2013 rumour thread. since it's a forum, there will be "trusted insiders" and "trolls", I think most tech reviewers have picked up trolls' information on that.

But I still wish there's a 5.5" Xperia, not referring to Z2, but just a wishlist.

No idea what's their "moderate to heavy usage" but their "moderate to heavy usage" on other Xperia is as follow;
Xperia ZR - 9 hours (LTE on)
Xperia Z - 6 to 8 hours (3G, sometimes LTE on)
Xperia Z Ultra - 8 hours (3G only)

They did mentioned what they mean by "extreme usage" for the Galaxy S4 review.
"The 2,600 mAh battery gives more than enough juice to last you for most of the day. We unplugged the charger with 100% battery at 7am. With Wi-Fi hotspot and LTE turned on plus auto brightness off with intense web browsing, playing Candy Crush for 3 hours and Facebook, Twitter and Instagram turned on, and watching You Tube videos for 4 hours (not straight actually), the battery died at 4:30pm. That’s about 10 hours with extreme usage"

My main point is to give the idea of what they mean by "extreme usage" so you got the idea of what is "moderate to heavy usage".

No, I didn't say "RRP of Z when ZU is launched". Those RRP that I stated for Z isn't the current RRP, it's RRP way back in March 2013, not the current RRP. My point to compare it to the original RRP of Z is that the Z1 might be priced higher than the original RRP of Z.
The RRP of ZU that I've stated is also the original RRP of each country, not the current one, I have no idea what's their current RRP now too. Again the point to compare to the original RRP is that the RRP of Z1 is placed lower than ZU's original RRP.

Maybe Sony Malaysia will really do something special, time will tell.
