QUOTE(abubin @ Feb 3 2016, 07:41 PM) if that is how you place your HDD, without proper casing and all, of course will die lah. Drives running 24/7 should be properly mounted and ventilated. i have harddisk bay , just bought few harddisk setup and testing only , i am using LSI SAS 9211-8i with 8bay hotswap . |

QUOTE(ozak @ Feb 9 2016, 03:32 PM) Don't think is the hdd problem. More like your enclosure, nas or PC handling the hdd. actually the whole rack is my cpu case because limited space in my cpu case , i extend into my rack , nobody walk there move/shake the whole rack , the rack is very heavy, firm , usually i put together into a enclosure . i extend the sata using SFF 8088 cable. so there is no way to fail unless the harddisk not good enough , i choose WD Red because WD disable the drive head parking unlike normal Low power harddisk .I don't have such issue. Even the Samsung 2gbx5pcs running for 7yrs now. bought before GST only rm470 each at viewnet , rm50 cheap gigabit network 6port for share with other network pc This post has been edited by gill1314: Feb 10 2016, 12:22 AM |

QUOTE(OldSchoolJoke @ Mar 13 2016, 01:14 AM) Hi guys, I'm a total noob at NAS matters, can anyone suggest me a 4-bay with budget of RM1500 and below? if you want to setup a php , mysql , etc , you should build a custom NAS , freeNAS operating system is a good choice , base on freeBSD , you should able to host a webserver or database easilly .And I have a stupid question here, can I have PHP and MySQL installed on the NAS? |
