To be honest, you don't need to specifically go to a gynaecologist to ensure you're healthy before getting a baby. A good family doctor, or a family physician is more than enough to give you proper advice on what are the types of blood test that need to be taken to screen for hereditary diseases (like thalassaemia), metabolic diseases (diabetes, lipids), get your blood pressure checked and infection diseases (like Hep B/C/HIV or any other venereal diseases).

Unless you have difficulty in conceiving, then yes, you should see a gynae instead.
