How about this, this is my mod, still on the earlier stage:



( the sidebar is other software). The top is the Winamp though. I include some status monitoring around (small small one). The icons at the right is folder shortcuts and the game images are games' shortcuts.

Though, how I can make button rollover effect ? I no good in Java and VB though ...
Basiclly I want to create shortcuts that link to my files, folders, games... But how to do rollover effects?

Samurize can almost do anything since it support of various languages of external scripts. But too bad I donno those langauges (I know PHP, but I can't get the server running correctly on my PC).

hmm, so many sidebars... Your CPU is kinda suffering ... Why don't make it as static shortcuts? (like the one that you ask me about my shortcuts at the right side).

Thought where you get those meters ?

Using text as shortcut is a pain work, cuz you need to CLICK-THE-TEXT. Why don't you put 2 layers ? Text later at the buttom while another layer above, like this:

You put a Text-Object, set it to image, direct the image to a blank image (for example create a blank.png) ... then use the image layer as link instead.

This is what I do all the time ... btw:

Basiclly the Samurize interface is similiar with visual basic in term of OBJECT and OBJECT tweaking. So basiclly you put an object or background, which I usually make the whole wallpaper with buttons, etc on the wallpaper. THen simply in Samurize, I put the wallpaper as background adn then add in buttons, meters, etc.

But one problem about sharing config. Is there any easy way to adjust the shortcut link's directory? Means, I am using D drive as system drive, so much of the programe located at D instead of C. When my friend waht to use my config, they have to change all D to C...

So any easy way to solve that?

I am NOT using any dock... even though it seems like a dock... lol

It as simple as that So the concept is that, I just graphicial everything in Photoshop...

Animations on Samurize interface cause alot of problem due to short refresh rate. Eventually it wil eat up to 20% of your CPU.

If you don't want to use any default dektop icon (will say why later), you can put those animation images as a desktop web objects instead (under Desktop Properties). But doing so will cause desktop icon lost it's ability to use 'icon shadow' instead of the default 'icon box'.

Be creative of how to use the web objects together with Samurize and you'll get your desktop blig around

Or course, with web objects you also can place a movie, song whatever on your desktop that whatever a webpage can run...

My current Samurize eat me 10% of CPU... sometime it gone unstable... and also it might clash with certain games like Stalker (keep flashing to desktop)...

... I wrong-format my disk and... well you know. Unable to recover all my data. I try to dig around if it still there

Ya why no one mentioned temperature before? Is it possible to get the temperature reading as we can see in our BIOS ?

You must run winamp in order to make Samurize retrieve data from it. Yes it is possible to make a volumn control with samurize.

On the media plugn that you use to make play pause next rewind buttons, also contained an option for volumn. I'm not quite remember how I did that, quite a long time ago.

I simply make a bar and I can pull the bar left and right to adjust volumn, as well as the 'seek' bar!

Any brother here can enlight him? I'd been long time no use Samurize, forgot already =p

Run your samurize. you should have an icon on your Tray icon area. Right click and select the config you want to use (the .ini file). A config is a desktop setting on every object, or in short, it;'s a theme. If you use other people's theme, make sure you edit it so everythings run properly. I think Samurize website got all the basic tutorial?

Just decrease the refresh timimg to 100ms or lower... But will cause serious system performance consumption...

Btw, anyone know where got FUNCTIONAL chinese language pack for samurize? I download from samurize website but they don't seems to be functioning, all just display weird words...

Well, saurize seems to be clashing with some softwares and games... I need to minimize the samurize interface if I gonna watch movie in fullscreen (WMP)... wtf... I also need to minimize it when I want to play games like Stalker, else the game window's border keep flashing... wtf...

Maybe your config setting was point to wrong PC ? Cuz when you add those meters things, you will be prompt to select what to show and which computer to show, right? Try check that.

- how I can add temperature readings to Samurize? I want to display CPU and GPU temperature.

Well yes, I installed speedfan and everythings go good. But... It got one weakness - many hardwares today comes with hybrid technology.

I am using an Asus UL80VT laptop with GMA4500 and Nvidia G210M graphic. THe problem is, SpeedFan do not show temperature for GMA, but instead it just show :

HDD, overall, CPU-0, CPU-1

But if I switch to Nividia, it will show:

G210M, HDD, overall, CPU-0, CPU-1

THis will cause wrong display on my Samurize since, index-0 (HDD) will become GPU temperature instead after I switch to discrete graphic! ANyway to solve this?

yeah it runs fine on Windows 7
